The main talking points in today’s round of games from a Fantasy perspective centre on Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres.

Rooney’s stunning start to the season has meant he’s been a captaincy favourite for many and even a testing trip to Stoke this evening would have undeterred many Fantasy managers from handing the United man the armband.

His exclusion from the Britannia clash due to a slight hamstring strain will, therefore, bring the vice captaincy rule into play for many and with a home match against Norwich next weekend, plenty will be sweating over his fitness.

Rooney is the top-owned player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game- he’s included in 50.2% of teams- but has already brought words of reassurance via his twitter stream, suggesting he should be fit for the midweek Champions League game against Basle:

Gutted I’m missing game today. Hopefully ok for Tuesday. Tough game v Stoke. Hopefully 3 points. Berba 1st goal I think.

To add to Sir Alex Ferguson’s worries, Javier Hernandez has limped out of the Stoke game within the first five minutes, meaning the champions are currently taking on Stoke with their Carling Cup strike pairing of and Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen.

Over at Stamford Bridge, it was something of a case of déjà vu for Fernando Torres this afternoon at Stamford Bridge. Similar to last weekend in the 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford, the Spaniard grabbed a goal but it was what followed that will, once again, overshadow his contribution to the Chelsea cause.

Against Man United last Sunday, Torres’ brilliant clipped finish past compatriot David De Gea suggested a return to the El Nino of old but his subsequent open goal miss was the one abiding memory.

Today saw Torres grab the Blues opener and set about Swansea with an impressive relish until his enthusiasm got the better of him. A rash two-footed challenge on Swansea’s Mark Gower means Torres will miss Chelsea’s next three games, just as he was beginning to silence the doubters.

With the fourth round of the Carling Cup commencing in the week beginning 24th October, Torres’ ban will be restricted to league fixtures, leaving him sidelined for (bol, EVE, qpr).

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I have the unenviable decision of choosing between Gabbidon and Boyata (discarded Lopez), so
I desperately need some help. Basically, Bolton are allergic to CS and QPR have absolutely shocking fixtures. Great, but at 4 I can't complain.

Cheers. He's nailed and rotates beautifully with Swans. Touch injury prone, but an FPL manager's gotta do what he's gotta do.

Besides, I fear for Boyata with Steinsson in the wings.

Is Anderson, Cole & Walcott to Kompany, Ramires & Nani worth an 8 point hit.

Walcott - maybe injured though plays well at Spurs.
Cole - Chelsea 1 cleanie in 6 games.

I suggest you forget about price rises for now. See what happens. Many times have I transferred someone in to avoid price rises/drops only to have them injured in midweek games and then have to spend more points to transfer out again. Just wait, this is a good week to wait - Nani looks good for Norwich, but if theres any game he will be rested, it may be that one - there are plenty of options for SAF. Rooney may be back by next week. The best scenario is that he doesnt play CL game and is ready for Norwich. Van Persie, Aguero, and Drogba all have midweek games and things can happen, especially to mr glass. I would seriously wait it out, you dont have to catch every point rise or drop.

    Hey Guys,

First post on this and first time FPL player. Could do with a little advice.
Heres my team just to give ye an idea as to where I am:

    De Gea, (Vorm)
Enrique, Bosingwa, Taylor R, Ward, (Simpson)
    Silva, Young, Petrov, Dyer, (Ferguson)
    Rooney, Suarez, Adebayor.

Team value is currently 101 Million and I have .7 in the bank.
    I was thinking of:
    Nani for Young,
    Rooney for Aguero.

What can I do with Ward, Petrov and Dyer? Any suitable replacements?? Im stumped!!

    Thanks in advance.

    I am thinking of Nani

Are you sure about ditching Rooney? Yeah you are overweight in United but how about De Gea > Al Habsi or Ruddy, or Young to VdV and downgrade Adebayor to a cheap bencher. Both would free up more funds to bolster your midfield. If you don't want Ward cash up for a 4.0m bencher.

Is it worth using my WC for this stellar team?

    Vorm, Ruddy
Enrique, Taylor R, Simpson, Bosingwa, Ward
Mata, Silva, Nani, Dyer, Van der Vaart
    Van Persie, Suarez, Lita

Need to transfer Given > Ruddy, Taarabt > Van der Vaart, Long > Lita, Dzeko > Suarez

Will leave nothing in the bank so it's now or never, a single price change scuppers it. Have 0.1 cover for both Long and Dzeko but unless Taarabt plays well tmrw he'll probably drop soon and both VdV and Suarez look to go up soon too.
