The main talking points in today’s round of games from a Fantasy perspective centre on Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres.

Rooney’s stunning start to the season has meant he’s been a captaincy favourite for many and even a testing trip to Stoke this evening would have undeterred many Fantasy managers from handing the United man the armband.

His exclusion from the Britannia clash due to a slight hamstring strain will, therefore, bring the vice captaincy rule into play for many and with a home match against Norwich next weekend, plenty will be sweating over his fitness.

Rooney is the top-owned player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game- he’s included in 50.2% of teams- but has already brought words of reassurance via his twitter stream, suggesting he should be fit for the midweek Champions League game against Basle:

Gutted I’m missing game today. Hopefully ok for Tuesday. Tough game v Stoke. Hopefully 3 points. Berba 1st goal I think.

To add to Sir Alex Ferguson’s worries, Javier Hernandez has limped out of the Stoke game within the first five minutes, meaning the champions are currently taking on Stoke with their Carling Cup strike pairing of and Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen.

Over at Stamford Bridge, it was something of a case of déjà vu for Fernando Torres this afternoon at Stamford Bridge. Similar to last weekend in the 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford, the Spaniard grabbed a goal but it was what followed that will, once again, overshadow his contribution to the Chelsea cause.

Against Man United last Sunday, Torres’ brilliant clipped finish past compatriot David De Gea suggested a return to the El Nino of old but his subsequent open goal miss was the one abiding memory.

Today saw Torres grab the Blues opener and set about Swansea with an impressive relish until his enthusiasm got the better of him. A rash two-footed challenge on Swansea’s Mark Gower means Torres will miss Chelsea’s next three games, just as he was beginning to silence the doubters.

With the fourth round of the Carling Cup commencing in the week beginning 24th October, Torres’ ban will be restricted to league fixtures, leaving him sidelined for (bol, EVE, qpr).

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Ade's fixtures are just too good to ignore. I'm seriously thinking of getting him in for RVP.

RVP's fixtures are also pretty good though!

Dzeko > Adebayor is looking like a certainty for me this week, although didn't Adebayor pick up a knock today? Read it on twitter, someone was saying that Adebayor wasn't the same player after this 'knock' and had you had a striker on the bench, he probably would have come off.

      Talk to me.

Spurs away, Sunland home, Stoke home, Chelsea away

Not great. Look at Spurs fixtures for about 10 GW's.

I've got Rooney, RVP and Aguero up front though, if I had Dzeko like you it would be an easy switch to Ade. I hadn't heard he pick up a knock - I'll keep an eye out for that MOTD innit.

Totally agree mate, if it wasnt for that red he would of had a really really good game, and my gamble would of paid off big time.

I was a bit too hasty when he scored and kinda bragged about it putting him in but yeah, i totally take the backfire on the chin, coz to be fair, a red card was kinda the last thing people expected would happen apart from just another poor'ish performance, just really feel sorry for the guy as i love havin him in my team. haha yep, your so right, and that is kinda the way my season has also gone, but yeah, just keep plodding along i guess something will pay off sooner or later. I was still in disbelief about 15 mins after it happened, as he had no need to do that at the halfway line, strikers shouldn't even force any tackles in my opinion lol, still think he'll come back good though after 3 weeks 🙂

Ah well, i may still stick with the chelski force and cap drogba next week 🙂

    Couple of quick questions.

    1) Why is Suarez falling? He scored today, so should be rising? I captained him and it payed off. Hopefully some BPs as well.

    2) Why are people getting rid of Rooney? Yes he may be injured but has Norwich at home. Even if he doesn't play, then will comeback hungry against Utd's rivals Liverpool and City. Also at £12.2M, I'm sure many will transfer him out and then not be able to get him in again.
