Roberto Mancini has tonight stated that he wants Carlos Tevez “out of the club” after the Argentinian striker refused to play a part from the bench in City’s Champions League tie in Munich.

In a story that will likely run and run over the coming days, the Italian has tonight made a damning statement that appears to break Tevez’ ties with the club once and for all.

“If I have my way he will be out of the club. He’s finished with me…For me it’s a bad situation. In a game like this it’s important for a player to help the team. This is impossible.”

Tevez appeared to be openly objecting to Mancini on the bench in the second-half; the City boss later revealing that he had intended on introducing the striker in an attempt to recover tonight’s 2-0 defeat to an impressive Bayern outfit.

“He refused to come on the pitch. What I said to Carlos is between me, him and the team…I am really disappointed because it is Carlos…We will speak about this with the chairman in the next few days.”

Developments will undoubtedly unfold over the rest of the week, but tonight’s events and particularly Mancini’s comments, will now surely bring the Tevez situation to a head following a turbulent spell at the club.

“If we want to improve as team Carlos can’t play with us. With me, he is finished.”

For Fantasy managers, should Tevez be frozen out at City, it will certainly reduce the uncertainty surrounding the rotation of Mancini’s strikers – presumably cementing Sergio Aguero’s starting role further.

Certainly Aguero’s start for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn looks assured after Mancini also moved to punish Edin Dzeko’s petulance following his substitution in tonight’s game. Dzeko was replaced on 55 minutes by Nigel De Jong, reacting angrily to the decision from his manager. Mancini has stated post-match that the Bosnian striker will now be benched on Saturday as a result.

“Next time he will stay on the bench with me.”

This will come as another blow for Dzeko’s Fantasy owners who have suffered nothing but uncertainty since his four goal spree at White Hart Lane. Mancini will presumably now turn to Mario Balotelli for the Ewood Park trip – a player who has himself courted controversy during his City career.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Decisions...

    A: Walcott > Nani (I have Young)
    B: Walcott > Mata

    +

    C: Rooney > Aguero (I have Silva)
    D: Rooney > Hernandez

Which 2 would you go for?

Quite like the look of A and C. Least then u don't have to worry about the United striker situation and if u wish you could get rid of Young or Nani the week after for pretty much anyone such VDV Mata etc.

That's something I was thinking about.

Mata isn't yet scoring enough FPL points so he could always come in for Young/Nani.

If you did have Young & Nani, you could see big returns methinks. If you did have both + Silva & Aguero too then...think of the potential. Jesus must see if I can do that 😉

I'd like to think the returns could be big.

Man U do have Liverpool MAN CITY Everton so Young could then come out, like mentioned above, for VDV as Spurs do have a nice run from GW8.

Not sure I entirely trust AVB to play him every game - he could do Malouda Anelka Sturridge for example.

Suarez/Adebayor look like better options and no need to worry long term.

I was thinking in a 433, Mata on the left of the midfield 3.

Anyway, the point is that Anelka could start in place of Drogba.

I think he's been playing on the left of the middle 3, until they switched to 4231 in the second half against United and played in behind Torres (also kept this against Swansea I think).

With Torres out I have no idea what AVB will do, he may switch back to the 433 where Lamps and Drogba are comfortable.

Definitely, he will be in behind Torres long term, will score very well.

Him or Torres will be essential eventually, and Mata will prob be better value.

The first week is the worst, after that not so bad. It gets better every day but lasts a long time nonetheless. The trick is to avoid the things/situations which trigger you lighting up, if you can. Take a break from normal life, maybe go on holiday.

Amongst the plethora of thoughts that crossed my mind last night while watching that rollercoaster United game...

Why does Ashely Young play on the left when he is so utterly and hopelessly right-footed? First off he is a great player, a speed demon and I understand the whole inside-out wingers strategy but everytime he used his pace to get past a full back he had to double-back on himself and whip a cross in with his right? Most of those crosses were underwhelming and the delay that preceeded them upset the rhythm and momentum of the attack.

I know his goal saved a point but for me that was all about Nani's sublime cross which just further emphasised the flaw in Young's game.

I don't know if he is defintely better, Young is less selfish, does a superior amount of tracking back and links up better with the team in general.

I think they are equal to be honest (well Nani is in much better form)
Young is more a team player and gets through more work, Nani is more of a selfish player, and together this works brilliant.
Young crossing from right-to-left is clearly better, as is Nani cutting in and shooting with a shot of his right foot. I agree they should switch up.
Once Nani scores 2 points when Young scores in double figures alot of people will switch back, its just as the game goes...although Nani is a better option.

I think against poorer opposition (I know Basel ain't world beaters, whatever that means), but against less capable & organised defences he's more likely to take on the the full back. Like Norwich possibly. Woeful crosses last night tho. Cut in, over hit, cut in, over hit...

Would love a bit of advice here:

    Given Vorm
    Kompany Bos Enrique Simpson Brown
    Nani Nasri Jarvis Brunt Dyer
    Adebayor Dzeko Rooney

1.0 in the bank. No free transfers left this week.

Dzeko is going for sure for a 4 pointer. I also think Aguero is pretty much essential now that rotation risk is reduced. Options I was thinking:

    1. Dzeko – Suarez (4 pts)
    2. Dzeko & Rooney – Aguero & Suarez/Drogba (8 points)
    3. Dzeko & Kompany – Aguero & 4.2 def (probably QPR)

Will most likely wildcard GW11 whatever happens.

after the crap start I had last season taking hits I just can't justify them anymore unless half my team isn't playing

This might sound stupid but I am not sure whether Nani will start against Norwich, might be used as an impact sub incase things go wrong, as I think United will be too strong for them and will use a couple of bench players

I agree. At least it is for two strikers with the ability to explode.

Aguero and Drogba is a recipe which I think could be very fruitful. If you were in my mini league with those two I'd be watching intently.

Personally I just don't know if I could take the 8pt hit. I would condone the 4pt to get rid of Dzeko but a gamble on Rooney (+ those 4 points you save) is the option I would choose.

Yeah. I think I am leaning towards Suarez over Drogba though, as I don't desparately need a differential at this stage and I would be happy to just leave Suarez in there (so avoiding hits for the next 3 weeks). Drogba is a risk.

Looks like you prefer my option 1. So do I, it's just Aguero that bothers me, especially now he is more or less a certain starter.

Ah nuts. Source? Brought him in to my UCL Fantasy team, everything was going so well with my 4pt hit:

      J.Evans > B.Kone (12pts)
      Walcott > Giggs (8pts)
      Hernandez > RVP

If he is rested the positive is he is fresh for my FPL team.

Doubt that will happen. IF Arsenal get a good lead then he may be subbed early - but that's the only rest he'll get.

    Morning Chaps

    My current team is

    Vorm / Krul
Bos / Enrique / Ward / RTaylor / Da Laet
    Mata / SWP / Dyer / Hoolahan / Nasri
    RVP / Rooney / Dzecko

After last night is it wise to take a 8 point hit for
Rooney > Aguero (sure to get more game time without Tevez)
Dzecko > Adebayor ( dzecko missing next game)
Nasri > Nani (should start v Norwich)

This season i find myself taking 4 point hits fairly regularly whilst last season i finished in the top 5k when not taking any. Could this be a bad thing or have people had a decent amount of success playing the hits and using it to their advantage?

4 point hits fail more often that they work in my expericnce . not just my expericnce but its the general consensus with mates too.
Pick a keeper, 2 def, 3 mids and 2 fwds that you think to keep for the season and use your transfers to strengthen around them or change them when you see another long-termer.
Its not about being happy with your team for just the next gameweek - people take 4 point hits to achieve this.
Its about being happy with your team over the next 3-5 weeks.
5 weeks gives you enough transfer to change half your team with no hits!

I came 14th last year and took the occasional 4pt hit and even an 8pt hit once or twice. Generally speaking though I tried to stay away from doing them, I think in about 24 weeks I didn't take a hit at all but did in the other 14.

It's all relative. Depends on who you are bringing in. Who you are shipping out. Depends on your reasons... long term injuries and suspensions are as good as any. How big a gamble it is... anyone you are bringing in for a hit should have both good form and a great fixture.

Unfortunately there is no correct answer and the debate will rage on and on. As Mark said on the podcast, FPL got it just right by setting the penalty at 4pts, it really is a dilemma.

In my opinion if you start playing the switcheroo between Young and Nani you'll be doing it all season long, and sod's law says you'll keep doing it at precisely the wrong moment.

8 mill to spend on striker. currently have aguero and rooney with a gap to fill.

My strategy will probably be to leave Rooney in and Captain him with VC as Aguero (again).

I have Dyer in midfield so will probably bench him in favour of my new forward but obviously need one likely to score a couple. So...

Wellbeck, Bongy or Zamora (although he is listed as ill) or anyone else?

Guys just took a look at Mancini's interview. Clearly Dzeko's situation isn't as bad as it seems from this post. Mancini's just torrid cos of the loss & ofcourse mad about Tevez. I know he said “Next time he will stay on the bench with me.” But I take it as a trivial comment, just like he said some weeks ago "We don't have good enough replacements for our midfielders." At some point, he mentions he wanted Dzeko to remain fit for the Sat clash (also cos he played the previous Sat) & that's why he took him out. I don't think Mancini will knee-jerk to Balo like most Dzeko owners here. Watch out for Dzeko at BLA, he's striving badly for goals after yesterday. And when he really wants something, he gets it.

Ouch. Come to think of it, Mancini would have mellowed down tonite & surely realized he erred by speaking to the media about all this shit. More reasons:
          1) I feel he might give Dzeko another chance, for he doesn't want another Tevez-esque issue.
          2) Aguero might be rested for all we know. He's played ~180 mins in a row now & has international games lined up.
          3) Might use the BLA game as a potential first-team striker spot selection game between Balo & Dzeko.
          4) Balo is really young, so would be less severe to bench him from a team dynamics point of view as compared to Dzeko.

Im inclined to agree with a lot of this. He really should play Dzeko and would probably be best starting with him alongside Balotelli and Aguero on the bench.

However, the man is clearly an idiot starting with 2 up front last night so i reckon he'll drop Dzeko to the bench and start Balo alongside Aguero.

Actually thought that was a more sensible formation cos
              1) been used to this over PL games, can't afford any disturbance esp in such tough games.
              2) we talk about having possession in the midf, but don't forget bayern prolly has the best def in the world currently. if went 4-5-1 against them, the media would have been all over him saying that he's back to his old self of being defensive against good teams.

Weird, they have a shop. But Lucozade are themselves out of stock of original lucozade.

i’ve got dzeko, + 0.9 in the bank.

i already used my transfer this week.

my midfield is nani, mata, arteta, cabaye, dyer
and rooney, dzeko, adebayor up front.

should i go suarez, or gamble on sturridge/anelka for a 4 pointer.
