Gabby Agbonlahor’s goal and assist in Aston Villa’s win over Wigan yesterday laid down the gauntlet for his fellow low-priced Fantasy forwards and this afternoon saw three more players step up with some double figure returns.

Daniel Sturridge was first out the traps in Chelsea’s Reebok rout. When available, Sturridge has started every league game for Andre Villas-Boas’ side and further-cemented his place in his manager’s first-team thinking with two goals and an assist at old club Bolton.

Firing the Blues into the lead within two minutes, Sturridge added another goal and assist to put his side into a 3-0 lead before the half-hour mark and is already his side’s top-scoring Fantasy forward, despite appearing in just three games. Chelsea are clearly clicking under Villas-Boas and look full of goals right now, with a 5-1 final score perhaps even kind on the home side, such was their total dominance. At 6.5, the fortnight’s break will surely see his bandwagon pick up pace ahead of a gameweek eight home clash with Everton.

The three o’clock kick-off at Craven Cottage saw Andy Johnson continue the form that has seen him grab six goals in nine appearances on the European stage. Johnson-starting his first league game since gameweek two- helped end QPR’s unbeaten run as Martin Jol’s side picked up their first league win of the campaign in emphatic fashion.

Echoing Sturridge’s early goal, Johnson netted within a couple of minutes but went one step further than the Chelsea player with a hat-trick and assist in the 6-0 rout, though with his game time definitely less guaranteed, it’s fair to say that Fantasy suitors may be deterred. At 5.1, however, he’s presented a strong case as Fantasy managers’ cut-price striker option, though with Moussa Dembele and Bryan Ruiz vying for a place alongside Bobby Zamora, Johnson has plenty competition- if he can force his way into Jol’s starting eleven on a more permanent basis, Johnson looks ripe for investment.

Zamora returned to action after being sidelined with illness last week and again proved pivotal for Jol’s side. His goal and two assists may well have been overshadowed by Johnson’s display but the 6.7 FPL forward continued to show that, when fit, he offers a consistency that is often overlooked- currently, he’s owned by just 3% of Fantasy managers. Zamora has now appeared in four games for Fulham this season and has either scored, assisted or picked up bonus in every game.

Today’s (pre-bonus) twelve point return means Zamora has scored in his third game in a row and has returned three goals, three assists and four bonus in those four games. The gameweek eight Britannia clash may dent that record but it’s clear he’s looking a real solid performer under the guidance of Jol and if he can stay match-fit, looks like a real value for money option as the season unfolds.

Rotation, rotation, rotation. Which player will get the most PL minutes this season?

    1) Nani / Young / Valencia?

    2) Hernandez / Welbeck / Berbatov / Owen?

    3) Aguero / Dzeko / Balotelli?

    4) Torres / Anelka / Sturridge / Drogba / Lukaku?

Seems like there's some consensus, maybe I'm just being paranoid. City, Utd and Chelsea have biiiiiig squads this year and resting hasn't always made sense from an FPL point of view.

    Another poor gameweek for me.

Defence did okay, midfield not great, forwards poorly.

My luck seems to be appalling this season. Any suggestions or should I just sit tight for now?

Well, AFerdinand had a shocker today, but don't read too much into that as he's been good previously and QPR are at home to Blackburn next GW

Mata has been ok, but he gets subbed too early for mine, bit worried about that, but he's been getting some decent scores, im wondering for 9.5 you can do better, maybe nasri who is 9.6 or if you want to save then murphy for 6.1 and invest some coin elsewhere, maybe get rid of ramires who has got most his pts from one good game.....also chelsea have arsenal, everton and liverpool coming up

I'm relatively happy with the defence - I seem to be averaging 2 cleansheets a week out of the defenders and keepers.

Obviously it was irritating not having Nasri this GW, but I scrubbed any thoughts of bringing him in because I think he was playing in an ultra-attacking position because of Aguero's injury which hopefully is a one-off. If I recall correctly he was brought on for Aguero which says it all...

I would stick with Mata if you already have him now, I see him as Chelsea's Silva, a player who's at the heart of their passing and got plenty of assists and some goals in him. Surely a player in such a position in a form team will come good soon.

he doesnt have time to wait for someone to come good
with the position he's in (overall ranking) he needs players in form now

nasri since going to man city has been playing good football, plenty of goals and assists, i'll admit the games against fulham and everton werent his best, but i think he was rested on the weekend because of it, but he game on and blew them away, so he sure as heck wont be rested now

but since he has silva then maybe look elsewhere, but i still say mata and ramires should be looked at

          and defence isnt that strong

Obviously Man Utd have arguably their most difficult fixtures in the prem coming up, at Liverpool and Man City, but I don't see them struggling. They're not a 'choker' team, they're a 'clutch' team that usually does well under pressure, e.g. the millions of stoppage time goals they've scored against great teams. Just ask City... yes, it hurt me too as an ABU. You're probably referring to Benfica and Basle as examples of Man Utd's loss of momentum - I think they weren't initially under enough pressure for those matches, thought it would be easy and got a bit complacent.

Regarding Anfield I'm not convinced by Liverpool's defence and think Utd's attack will manage at least 1 and at most 3 goals. Utd may well concede though.

              Your right !!

Just to show how sorry i am i will offer some sage words of wisdom.

1)The fact he even owns Drogba is probably a sympton that he has already been making too many trnsfers.

              2) Dont make short term transfers , you only end up having to make more to get rid of them (Drogba)

              3) I wouldnt spend points to remove Brunt , he has a good fixture.

              4) Drogba to Sturridge is a sideways move , you made Drogbas bed , you must lye in it for two more weeks.

              5) Only transfer i would make would be to remove Taabaat

              6) dont swap between stars , use transfers to remove weakest link , otherwiise team graually declines

7)Thank Triggerlips for his wise advice

    Morning guys.
My feeling after yesterday is that it could be the beginning of the end for Bosingwa being a Chelsea regular starter. He's been suspect defensively all season but has managed to patch it up with some promising attacking play. Ivanovich looked good when he came on yesterday as well, much better defensively than Bos and still a threat going forward.

I feel the time is coming to cash in on the Bos man (made me a cool 0.3 profit) and downgrade to free up some cash for my MF.

Barton -> Bannan may be worth a go. Lots of talent in the 6.0M bracket or thereabouts and the best option may be to flit about to find the form player. So many we thought would be great have turned out to underwhelm...then someone like Bannan shows up.

Not so convinced by swapping out Rooney. He's a keeper as far as I'm concerned and I consider him fixture proof. A hat trick against liverpool is just as possible as one against any other prem side. I would leave your front line alone. (but i'm biased. it's the same as mine)....

    KAZ

I just looked at your team , seems quite good
    Defence and keepers are good

    Midfield fine except for Sess

    Forwards also fine.

However you have the short term problem that two of those strikers might not play next week , Aguero might , and isnt really worth selling , as presumably your still a believer .
Which leaves Bendner , think you were right , he the one ou need to transfer , and if you feel like spending 4 then take sess out too , possibly for Ramsey as you hve no arsenal

bendtner's a goner for sure. just dont know who to bring in. if i go for agbon, i will have to take a hit and find the money from somewhere else(thinking of downgrading warnock).klasinic looks good too with the fixtures he's got. ill wait till next week

Guys.. What do you think about the old FPL stars - Drogba and Lampard ?

I was disappointed with Drogba yesterday. He seem to not lead the line, slow to move forwards, and still not sharp. Sturridge was a bit selfish to shoot in many chances that better to pass and that even made Drogba poor.. 🙁

Anyway, Lampard seem to gain his form.. Is he worth his premium price tag ?

Good question about Lamps. Drogba is filling in for Torres while he's banned and as a long term prospect is not worth it at all.

Lamps looked good yesterday no doubts about it. But I'd personally hold off to see if he has played his way into the 1st XI yet. Maybe he looked so good because he'd had a rest and felt he had something to prove?

I'll be watching how things develop before splashing the best part of 12.0 on a bench warmer

lamps and drogba are not worth it. too expensive and inconsistent as far as this year is concerned. silva, young, nani and vdv are all cheaper and more consistent and with the quality strikers that are around right now, there is no need to keep drogba in the team

I agree that "no-go" for Drogba. For Lampard, I think it's worth to keep monitoring him..

He looked really effective and played advanced role. Interesting choice if he can keep up.

AVB's rotation policy is really the factor. He also made two subs before 60th min.. 🙁

He is a good player and ff player but not worth a tranny for those.
He seems pretty nailed on to start most games, contesting with Anelka at the moment, who seems out of favour and leaving in January, and then Drogs once Torres returns, who has played crap, and to a lesser extent Kalou. Coach seems to love him, and he has started all PL games he's been available for and play very well yesterday.

mata's too expensive . it is as simple as that. yes he got the assist. yes he is quality but fpl wise he can't be ahead of the likes of nani, vdv, silva, nasri and young. mata will score points regularly but at 9.5, he has to do more. all the players that i mentioned above are more consistent and most of them are regular goal scorers.

Bit soon to be casting a judgement on him - he's only played 3 and a half games! He's on every dead ball and there aren't many cheaper ways into the CHS team.

Over long term Nani will score more.

Chelsea have scored 9 goals in the last 2 games and his sum contribution is 2 assists?

For £9.5m thats not a great return.

Wow, just saw Sagna three month prognosis. Arse are so unlucky. Left with only Jenkinson on RB, looks like a long three months for them. The guy is a liability.

What do people think about getting in RVP? Amazing-looking fixtures, but it'd have to be at the expense of Rooney or Aguero. I have the feeling he could go wild against Blackburn.

I have a feeling he'd only get an Assist against Blackburn

A fine choice, would have him if I could, played really well for arsenal yesterday, should have had at least an assist this weekend but Gervinho somehow put his shot wide....
