Gabby Agbonlahor has been speaking of the recent back problem that has seen the in-form Aston Villa forward play through the pain barrier in recent weeks.

A series of sensational displays have made light of the injury but, having ruled himself out of contention for a spot in this week’s England squad, Agbonlahor admitted he requires painkillers to alleviate the issue before every game and hopes to get the problem resolved before domestic action resumes in just under a fortnight’s time, with Villa’s unbeaten record on the line in a Gameweek eight trip to Man City. Subbed off four minutes before the end in Saturday’s game, he explained:

I’ve been suffering with pains in my lower back. I’ve got to go and see a back specialist in London on Tuesday…It’s been stopping me in games…I’ve still got the pain now and I’m on painkillers. Hopefully if this can sort it, I’ll be delighted- if I can get it sorted, I could be on fire…It comes and goes during the game and that’s why I came off because the pain was too much but I don’t want to moan about that.

Darren Bent may have been overshadowed by his team mate’s brilliant returns but has nothing but praise for Agbonlahor’s contribution, with Alex McLeish’s decision to team up the pair in a 4-4-2 currently reaping the rewards:

There were people who said me and Gabby couldn’t play together because we are too similar. But we complement each other well and give each other chances…Last season when I came I didn’t really play with Gabby upfront, he played wide left…At the start of this season the gaffer played him left. But it seems to be working well – the pair of us together – and hopefully it will continue.

A goal and assist –and subsequent three Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points- in Aston Villa’s 2-0 home win over Wigan continued Agbonlahor’s revitalized displays under the guidance of new boss Alex McLeish on Saturday.

His total of 4 goals, 3 assists and 9 bonus points has already eclipsed last season’s respective tallies (3, 1, 0) under Gerard Houllier, with the 7.0 FPL-priced star third in the forward rankings, behind only Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero. Villa’s extra defensive resolve under Big Eck clearly suits Agbonlahor’s speed and direct play on the break and with (WBA, sun, NOR) to follow the Etihad game, plenty more Fantasy managers will be looking to invest, providing there’s a positive prognosis.

Yep, I don't have him at the moment but with Bendtner ineligible next GW, and I have funds in bank to do the swap, I will probably get him in. Or possibly do a -4 to get Suarez...

speaking of ¨getting at¨, why did Kuyt take the penalty this past week, and do we think that given the outcome, Suarez should be back on em?

    Kompany, Bosingwa, Brown, Simpson, NTaylor
    Silva, Nani, Cabaye, Brunt, Dyer
    Aguero, Suarez, Adebayor

Moses has Bolton at home up next and some equally lucrative games after GW8 so you could be kicking yourself if he comes good.

At £4.9m, it's not worth wasting a freebie (or God forbid taking a hit) on him at this stage, just keep him and ship him out in a future wild card.

Like Kolarov he is actually quite fun to have in your team.

sturridge or Ba was the choice I was pondering last week. in the end I went with Sturridge, but both did really well.

If I were you I'd go for sturridge...less prone to rotation that you think and is a 6.5m good striker in one of the prem's best teams.

Ba I like a lot as well, but Sturridge edges it for me.

Hate to ask, but whats the consensus on Dzeko? I ended up keeping and playing him despite being benched. With Balotelli scoring and Aguero doubtful to be out for a period of time (will be fine after internationals), any idea on the forward line or just advise to get rid of him?

The thing with Dzeko is that he's not guaranteed to play every week. There are probably other options out there for the same money that would be safer. Adebayor for one.

Looking for a bit of advice. I've two free transfers but not sure what (if any ) changes to make. I would like to upgrade Brown to someone else as S'land aren't looking too good of late but who to downgrade? If Aguero is ruled out I might be tempted to swap him with Agbon or Suarez, but he may only be out for a week in which case I'd like to hang on to him.

    Team is:
    Vorm/Ruddy
    Jones Brown Naylor Simpson Gabbidon
    Young Mata Silva Dyer Tiote
    Rooney Adebayor Aguero

Mr Messi, Mata would be controversial, although he's not exactly set the world on fire as yet. Naylor would be a sensible switch since you're obviously rotating GKs and have Vorm.

Double-up Swans DEF for home games has proved profitable so far, but can it continue?

Definitely make one change, or it'll be lost, perhaps rollover the other for a double switch into GW9.

Personally, I'd go for Nani over Young - more reliable scorer.

And Mata doesn't do it for me...

Anyone have any idea why Kuyt took the PK this past week? And given the outcome should we expect Suarez to be back on them, if Gerrard continues to not be in the match when this occurs?

I don't think they are as fickle as we'd hope. Suarez only took one because neither Kuyt or Gerrard were on the pitch.

It goes like this gerrard - Kuyt - suarez and then I imagine Adam..who took them on their pre season tour when none of the above were in the side.

indeed O, indeed...how´s his bionic groin managing? Haven´t really seen him in the few matches and the little time he´s been on the pitch. Are they gonna force feed him centrally as before? And who truly gets the hot urine treatment, Adam?

He seems to look sharp from what I have seen and not afraid to shoot. An old school midfield of Lampard and Gerrard would be dreamy 🙂

I was wondering that myself but Adam has played OK I thought and would be harsh for him to be the one to miss out, but he wouldn't offer enough defensively to be put in the middle with Gerrard in my opinion.

I´m still hesitant to get Adam, I think the better, disciplined teams (see Man U next match) will play more to the scouting report against him (crowd him or close him down in every possession early, and dis-possessions and awry passes from him will follow). It just seems the perfect excuse to make the two of them rotation buddies/platooners for Kenny. Haven´t been much of a fan of his personnel decisions this season at all. I won´t even get into how wrong he´s been proven on a quality possession player like Aquilani. Or how wrong he I´ve always known he would be about the supposed talents of a Henderson.

No BP points this GW for me chaps. Looks like Silva and Suarez aren't gonna be BP darlings this year. The computer doesn't like nice play, but barely stats, especially punishing shots of target. In the old system I am certain that Silva and Suarez would have been dominating in that category.

    How is everybody doing?

Seems that Suarez isn't a must after all. I will downgrade him after the Nor game, maybe keep him for the next home game after, but that's all. His style of play with so many wasted chance is against his fantasy value. I will go with 2 big hitters ROonster/RVP/Aguero and one budget one. No place for Luis long term.

P.S. If Luis was like Chicarito :), that's another topic

Totally agree, people just get him in because he has awesome ball control and hes flashy. Actually he is averaging same amount of shots on target as Di Santo and 2 times less than Rooney. Hes not on any set pieces and Liverpool are not even close to dominating teams, so he wont get big scoring weeks like Roo and Aguero.

I agree, but it appears all the successful possession goes through him. It´s like they are fighting a Jekyll and Hyde facet of their team. They have a totally different brain with Carroll off the pitch, and this is the elephant in the room. There are times with him in they feel obligated to hoof-it down the field at him in some kind of knock-down Norwegian sh·te, that he doesn´t even appear to be that good at. It just robs continuity, possession and rhythm from the team. King Kenny is deep into being pot-committed. This team needs to hit rock bottom fast, no offense to Pool fans but an 8-2 (with a Suarez brace of course) would do them a world of good. He´s goona have to hurt someone´s feelings eventually.

Go to the transfers page, take everyone out and the 'bank' figure at the top is how much you have to spend in total. If you keep hold of players that have risen, the figure will be a bit higher.

Alternative might be Begovic. Just checked and AV/Stoke dovetail perfectly H/A fixtures every GW through to GW38. That would mean dumping Vorm, but Swans have terrible fixtures coming up.

Given/Begovic rotation is probably how I'll go, Woody will get crocked sooner or later, probably sooner.

A grand total of 1 bap this week!

    Ouchampton FC.

I am puzled though - as to how Jones and Evans can get baps when they let Norwich have 3 or 4 clear cut goal opportunities. I.e. how can two defenders, that should on any normal day had -1 for 2 goals against, run away with half the baps?

If someone is keeping tabs on this, please add this one to the list.
