The FA overturn Jack Rodwell’s three-match ban, Adel Taarabt looks likely to escape a fine after his Sunday walk out at Craven Cottage. Bacary Sagna is expected to be sidelined for three months after surgery, as Wojciech Szczesny also joins the Gunners injury list. Steve Bruce hints at upcoming first-team chances for Connor Wickham, Alan Pardew warns against changing his winning formula and Man City look set to make a decision over Carlos Tevez by Thursday, according to reports. Here’s some quick Tuesday morning Scribbles, folks…

This afternoon saw Jack Rodwell’s red card and subsequent three-match ban rescinded by the authorities. An FA panel ruled against Martin Atkinson’s decision to send off the midfielder in Saturday’s derby with Liverpool and Rodwell is now available for selection with immediate effect.

Despite storming out of Craven Cottage after his half-time substitution on Sunday, Adel Taarabt will not be fined by Neil Warnock. While his side were being beaten 6-0 by Fulham, the Moroccan was pictured at a bus stop looking slightly sheepish after his tantrum but Warnock reportedly empathises with the player:

“Put it this way, if I was subbed at half-time after that first half, I would have left. There was nowhere for him to sit and watch the game, so I don’t blame him for going. It’s been blown out of all proportion.”

Arsenal have today confirmed Bacary Sagna has undergone surgery on a fractured right fibula. The right-back was taken off on sixty-eight minutes against Spurs after a collision and will be out of action for a minimum three months with the problem. Young Carl Jenkinson looks likely to step up as an automatic replacement, though given the Gunners poor defensive record of late, little confidence can be expected in their back line.

Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has pulled out of Poland’s upcoming internationals with a back injury. The stopper didn’t appear to be suffering with the problem in the weekend clash with Spurs, though, and is expected to return for the Gameweek eight home clash with Sunderland.

Sunderland have joined the chase for ex-Birmingham player James McFadden. The Scot is a free agent after his St Andrews contract run out over the summer and has been training with Wolves recently, with a bid from Mick McCarthy already on the table. Steve Bruce has also entered the fray as the Black Cats look to boost their forward options following a stuttering start to the season.

Bruce has been full of praise for Nicklas Bendtner after Saturday’s home draw with West Brom. A goal and assist from the big Dane at the Stadium of Light means he has returned one goal, three assists and 3 FPL bonus points in his four games for the Black Cats but is unavailable for the Gameweek eight match at Arsenal due to the loan arrangement with his parent club. In spite of his interest in McFadden, Bruce has assured Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-won their time will come:

“But certainly, Connor and Ji are in my thoughts. Their time might be just around the corner too, so let’s hope when they get their chance, they can give everybody a lift too.”

Carlos Tevez is likely to learn his Man City fate by Thursday. The forward was interviewed by club officials for an hour yesterday and after giving his side of events, has reportedly been allowed to fly home to Argentina. Keen to clear up the saga, the club are expected to make their decision within the next forty-eight hours- from a Fantasy angle, Tevez’s possible departure would certainly mean more starts for the likes of Mario Balotelli and with Sergio Aguero’s injury still unclear, the Italian has shown he’s ready to step up to the task, with two goals in his last two starts for City.

Despite the return to fitness of the likes of Hatem Ben Arfa and Davide Santon, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has admitted he’s wary of making changes. Unbeaten after seven games and sitting in fourth place, Pardew feels consistency of selection has been one of the key reasons his side are currently excelling:

“There’s no doubt that one or two players coming into the team can change the character of it quite quickly. That was evident at Nottingham Forest (in the Carling Cup third round), when we conceded three goals – and two of them were quite sloppy ones…You have always got to be adaptable and always got to be ready to understand that one player can make the make-up of the team very different.”

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Morning Guys, now i’ve had a little play around on the site, getting used to it. I thought i’d set you a little RMT

    Currently

    Vorm Given

    Kompany Boswinga Simpson Gabidon Brown

    Silva Mata Brunt Moses N.Dyer

    Rooney Suarez Adebayor

thinking of wildcarding as I pretty much always planned on using it during the international break, but I don’t think my current team is too bad and I’d quite like to keep the wildcard a bit longer. However just had a play around and got the team below.

    Vorm Ruddy

    Kompany Boswinga Simpson Gabidon Enrique

    Silva VDV Nani Moses N.Dyer

    Suarez Sturridge Rooney

Main reason i like the new team is 1)Stronger midfield 2)More Man U coverage 3) Stronger defence. But the keeper situation is weak and i’m not sure about Sturridge getting enough mins. Any feedback would be appreciated. Cheers

Ignore the change of 5th defender, can't you change up your midfield abit with a couple of transfers, save your wildcard?

      We're basically saying:

      a) Given, Brown, Brunt, Mata & Adebayor
      vs
b)Ruddy, Enrique, Nani, VDV & Sturridge

Yeah, I'd pick b) of those 2 options and not worry too much about the GK situation - Swansea seem solid at home and Norwich aren't a bad side (though I haven't checked how they rotate)

Not convinced it's worth a WC though - it's only 5 transfers and can that not be done gradually? Maybe enrique for brown & Sturridge for Adebayor first to take advantage of Chelsea's home match and probably don't need both Nani & Rooney away at Liverpool?

Cheers guys, that is pretty much what I was thinking, do it gradually over a few weeks and save the wildcard. Just had it in my head I was going to do it during the international break so started playing around. Yeah if I take my time I can see how sturridge gets on at home (ie plays the whole game) and it also lets enrique get man united out the way. Think your right about the GK situation I would prob have a cheap now defender somewhere so it might as well be the GK.

      Thanks again

Hi all, please have a look at my team options and advise on what you think would be the best and why.

Current strikers are Rooney, Van Persie, Adebayor

    Team A

    Al-Habsi, Vorm
Warnock, Kompany, Bosingwa, Jose Enrique , Simpson
    Tiote, Silva, Petrov, Murphy, Sinclair
    Rooney, Aguero, Sturridge

On current form gives coverage of MU, MC & Chelsea.
Expecting Bolton to improve and Petrov to assist or score in 1/4 to 1/3 of their goals
A worry is losing 2 to 3 strikers on rotation

    OR

    Team B

    Al-Habsi, Vorm
Williams, Kompany, Bosingwa, Jose Enrique, Simpson
    Tiote, Silva, Ramires, Murphy, Nasri,
    Rooney, Klasnic, Suarez

Assured start for 2 strikers if all fit
3 x City coverage on current form

    OR

    Team C ( Leaves 2M in bank)

    Al-Habsi, Vorm
Warnock, Kompany, Bosingwa, Jose Enrique, Simpson
    Tiote, Silva, Petrov, Murphy, Mata
    Rooney, Suarez, Agbonlahor

Assured start for 2 strikers if all fit

Looking to achieve one of above over a 3 week period.

    Thanks

If you had the fwd line of Rooney, Aguero and RVP, which one would you shift out to get in Sturridge?

I have Mata and Ramsey in midfield (with Bannan, Moses and Dyer)

I was thinking Aguero out for Sturridge then getting Silva in for City coverage (instead of Moses)? Not sure if there is a better option out there?

Won't be popular on here but I'd lose Rooney for a few weeks if you're set on getting Sturridge in - not convinced they're scoring many goals in the next couple of games and I don't think there's a guarantee he's back to full fitness & match sharpness.

If your strikers are RVP, Adebayor and Agbonlahor, would you bother with Suarez for gw 9-11 (NOR, wba, SWA)?

    RVP (STO, che, WBA)
    Adebayor (bla, QPR, ful)
    Agbonlahor (WBA, sun, NOR)

If I shipped out RVP then I'd have Arteta as existing Arsenal cover
If Adebayor then no Spurs cover yet.
If Agbonlahor then no Villa cover yet.

It's hard because I feel I need Liverpool attacking cover for those 3 weeks, but only have Enrique and if I opted for Gerrard for midfield, it would mean losing Silva (mun, WOL, qpr) or Mata (qpr, ARS, bla) and downgrading Kompany.

Unfortunately there is no decent Liverpool prospect at the 9m or under mark or I could just lose Arteta as I'm planning on getting rid of him soon anyway.

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

no, not good. for a start you are choosing to have Ferguson. He. Does. Not. Play. Ever. When will people learn. this means you have 14 players to choose from while everyone else has 15? Why would you choose to handicap yourself in this way?

Can't argue with the frontline - that's also mine.

Mid could be a problem. Nani and silva are great, Petrov is good but you won't want him when Bolton are away too often and that leaves Ferguson(who doesn't play) and sinclair. Now Sinclair and petrov have great fixtures, but if you are to have two relatively cheap mids you need to have a playable fifth midfielder. I'd do your best t upgrade Fergie to n Dyer or Tiote if I were you.

Maybe downgrade Given to Vorm ...that would free up some valuable money.

If Sturridge/Ageuro and Rooney continue with their exploits that leaves me with very little room for Suarez ahead of Liverpool's good run of games.

I'd still like some Liverpool coverage though in midfield.. Obviously Enrique is in my thoughts, but are there any Liverpool mids you chaps and chapesses would consider?

There's a load of good striking options. Rooney and Aguero obviously. Then you have Ade's form and fixtures. Suarez's fixtures, Sturridges price. Hernandez and Welbecks differential and fixtures after gw11. RvP's fixtures... it's a minefield.

too many good striking options....not many good mid options. I've got a core of nani and silva...mixed with Ramsey and Petrov and young n dyer as my cheapie....can't see much room for liverpool at all at this rate.

the young for n dyer refers to his age, rather than meaning I also have Young in my mid.

Nothing to worry about ATM. Bos was subbed off when Chelsea had a decent lead and Ivan offers better defensive cover.
Nani will score big over the season. Think it was a tactical sub.

Bos has been playing pretty well to be fair but there's nothing to say that he may become more of a risk in the future. Afterall Ivan is a pretty good alternative at RB and offers something different.
Perhaps Ivan will play in the more 'difficult' games? I dunno, I'm not a Chelsea expert.

Nani is in fantastic form. Norwich played VERY well and put up a very difficult defensive barrier, which stopped Manu from playing for much of the game.

    Vorm
Baines Collins Brown De Laet Simpson
    Nani Mata Sinclair Sess Moses
    Agbon RVP Dzeko
Bank = 0.9 FT = 1 (no hits so far)

I def want to do Baines > Enrique for 3 weeks. Been waiting for the MU match to get over, and he’s assisted twice in 2 games. Darn!

which one? worth a hit in these cases?
    A. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, De Laet > Naylor, Sess > Murphy (-12)
    B. Baines > Enrique, Sess > Silva (-4)
    C. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, Sess > Murphy (-8)

I can afford to remove Collins/Brown. But I don't want to disrupt the rotation b/w Simpson & Brown.
Also Collins has some tasty fixtures after ManCity.

So I guess that leaves Baines (also set to drop in price soon + terrible fixtures). Def wanna upgrade Dzeko/Sess soon.. who dya think is first priority to remove?

Or will it be claimed on their insurance? I don't think i'll be banned because i've been drinking there long enough. But eugh, i don't know...

It depends on the management, really - best case scenario you say you're sorry, they claim on the insurance. If they know you and you haven't caused trouble before, that's most likely.

Honestly...I think he's a starter and now only stands to lose that role. I must admit I don't like his distribution much but when we're dominating you will see him playing well...against stronger opposition he seems a little distant...that may eventually work against him...but for now I reckon you can bank on him playing...I advised the same thing last week and look what he did...should have followed my own advise...another reason to want to hate the season even more...haha...oh well...

defence is as weak as a kitten....feeel it needs at least one of bos/komp or enrique to boost it. Even s Taylor would be a good one. Rest is fantastic. Also can't help thinking that the inclusion of Walker in defence smacks a little of kneejerkery.

I suffered my worst GW last week and with the way the season is going (imo much more a throw of the dice type of season than the same element of skill in the past), I almost packed it in until next season - would get a lot more work done, that's for sure!

But, I decided I'll give it a few more weeks but this time, take form into account moreso than fixtures.

If you look at my side, I just don't believe on paper it's as bad as my current score suggests:

    Krul Vorm
    Bosingwa Ward Simpson DeLaet Brown
    VDV Silva Young Taarabt Dyer
    Aguero RVP Best

Yet, this squad scored in the bottom 20% of the managers for GW7.

The annoying thing is, this squad has another decent GW coming up based on fixtures, but it's just not scoring points, whilst every other bugger seems to have the players who score once in a blue moon.

I've been in the same boat dude...it truly has been a weird season. One thing that has been mentioned to me is that in the past we have always benefited from having those players in our teams that score bonus points regardless of goals and such. This season the BP system favours those who score (most of the time)...so where we've always managed to maintain a short distance (if chasing) or pushing on (when leading) we are now pretty much stuck in the lottery that is this seasons FPL. If you can somehow find that groove of at least latching onto the BP guys then maybe you can gain some ground again. Then again, maybe pigs will fly too....haha...either way we need luck more than ever now it would seem. Bandwagon hopping is surely more "acceptable" now....
