Emile Heskey’s hamstring injury in Aston Villa’s Gameweek four clash with Everton has proved the making of Barry Bannan’s domestic season. A couple of brief sub appearances had preceded the Goodison draw but Heskey’s withdrawal has afforded the young Scot a chance to establish himself in Alex McLeish’s first-team and, so far, he’s grabbed it with both hands.

Bannan has started the subsequent three matches for Villa and has either assisted or scored in all of them, playing a significant part in maintaining his side’s unbeaten start to the new campaign. A home game with Newcastle in Gameweek five saw him set up Gabby Agbonlahor for the opener in a 1-1 draw, then the following week, with Darren Bent sidelined with a groin strain, Bannan stepped up to fire home a penalty in the away game at Loftus Road.

Last weekend saw the same strong form continue, despite Heskey’s availability. Bannan again set up Agbonlahor for a Villa opener and this time round, McLeish gave the youngster his first ninety minutes of the season, as he continues to establish himself as the creative hub of the new-look Villa side. So far, Bannan sits on 4 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points – only Agbonlahor has managed more for the Midlands outfit; an impressive return, then, given his mere three starts.

While summer signing Charles N’Zogbia struggles to make an impact and Stephen Ireland flatters to deceive, Bannan has looked the real deal in the Villa midfield. As his manager declared in the aftermath of Saturday’s win over Wigan:

“Barry Bannan is coming in and starting to look impressive. At last we had big levels from our creative players. That’s what’s been missing in the past few games because we have had an awful lot of opportunities without executing the final ball.”

A Gameweek eight trip to Man City will prove the ultimate test for Villa’s unbeaten run but four out of the following five offer plenty promise (WBA, sun, NOR, tot, swa). Bannan, priced at just 5.0, is giving Fantasy managers plenty reason for consideration right now.

I dunno Duffman, All Blacks with no Carter and we are fielding our strongest team for the first time...anythings possible.
Although I guarentee if Deans had his time over he would put our best team out against Ireland so we wouldnt have to play All Blacks before the final.

What do you guys think of this bit of team restructuring? I have two frees so will do some this week and follow up with the rest hopefully for no hits:

    Option A
    DeLaet to Woodgate
    Moses to Petrov
    Taabrat to Ramsey
    Dzeko to Ag Studge Zamora

    Option B
    Brown to Kompany
    Moses to Petrov
    Taabrat to Ramsey
    Dzeko to Studge

    Option C
    Dzeko to Suarez
    Taabrat to Petrov

      Well obviously not A.
A vs B is Woodgate vs Kompany pretty much.
Are you doing them this week or over the next few or what? Bit hard to understand as A and B have 2 more transfers than C

i prefer ramsey to petrov. i know arsenal arent great but for me theyre better than bolton and i like their home fixtures more (i know they both have sunderland and stoke but arsenal also have fulham and west brom), and petrov doesnt seem like a player to back in away fixtures

I swapped for Ramsey today , QPR fixtures are bad after this week , cant see th epoint keeping him when he will drop in price , especially when can replace him with one who is going to rise and has better long term prospects.

To keep him for blackburn is just a hope call , logic says sell now

Best option would be no 3..as suarez fixtures are quiet easy...and sticking with moses is a good choice..he will pay off sooner as fixtures for wigan becoming easier in the next 3-4 weeks.

        Strongly disagree.
Suarez has Man U, then 3 easy fixtures, and then Chelsea and Man City (I have Suarez but am personally keeping regardless of fixtures) and how can you say Moses' fixtures become easy? He has already played Swansea, Norwich and QPR (which he did absolutely nothing but play 90 minutes) and they don't get any easier than that. Wigan don't ever have easy fixtures, period.

Suarez is very tempting and gives me a front line of Suarez, Rvp & Rooney but a slightly weak mid of Nani, Silva, Petrov, Moses & N Dyer.

Don't think that midfield is weak at all; especially as Moses and Dyer rotate well. Newcastle and Swansea defenders looks good value this year as well

I agree its reasonably strong, only problem is that Moses is only ever going to get you 2pts...which means if you are to rotate with Dyer (who has genuine potential for that price) I'd advise swapping to another cheapie. I've got the same mid as you except with Ramsey instead of Moses. I'd recommend the upgrade if I were you. Or alternatively a player like tiote...he is likely to get a few bonus over the coming weeks with newc's good fixtures....much better value than Moses.

I agree there are better options than Moses over the season, but Wigan have great fixtures coming up and surely he has been rather unlucky too with hitting the woodwork and being man of the match in a few games. Ramsey looks a good shout; not so sure about Tiote though

Moses had great opening fixtures and did nothing. A good rule in FPL is to move on if a player isn't performing. If he scores big one week then get him in. At that price that's easily done. You miss one week's good pts but if you think he will do well then you are investing in a good run of pts to come. The likely situation though is that like kolorov. SEB, boselli et al he won't score big and you will essentially be saddled with a 2pt player for ages.

Wigan are fixture proof in that they are so unpredictable they can lose against pretty much anyone. Good fixtures don;t really count with Wigan. I speak from three years experience of getting wigan players in during their good runs.

Your probably right; I was a victim of the Lolarov "he will come good" mantra last season; not Boselli fortunately haha. Bannan is perhaps a stronger option at 5 million then or Faurlin

Yes now you're talking. Another golden rule is follow the stats. Bannan has stats to prove that he is effective, Moses doesn't.

Question though is which combo would score more? Over the next 3-4 games I would expect Suarez and Petrov to do well which will hopefully carry Moses for a while. Suarez is a good captain choice as well.

        Silva Nani Mata SWP Dyer
        Suarez Sturridge Adebayor
Am upgrading SWP to one of VDV or Nasri, and am going to WC later on to get Rooney in.

no it was when the allegations about the hooker came out - to be fair it was worse for him then, but if there is one player who plays with his heart on his sleeve, its rooney. he is very easy to wind up - and SAF certainly realises this

I think too, but my dilemma is should I double on new with Simpson and Saylor or make a hit for Ryan. which means benching Simpson. Or I could do the Schawcross transfer after the Ars game. I am worried cause statistically after the internationals there are very few CS's

Sooner or later I am gonna make that hit, the question is should I do it this GW. Schawcross could be a season keeper and fits perfectly in my rotation strategy. That will leave me breathing space to concentrate on my transfers in the front 8, my defense will be pretty much settled for 7 - 10 GW's IMO.

I am confused, not sure what to do.

I am portuguese and a huge fan from Porto and i know that Villas-Boas is a great manager so i am expecting some good results from Chelsea and also expecting that Mata is going to assist and score some goals.
I think that my atack is a little weaker than the others but Best is a good player.
I am also in doubt with Rooney,it will be a hard game with Liverpool and i am thinking about switching him.

What do you's lot think of Boyata as a 4.0 pick? On wildcard, team value not great so looking for some cheapo's. Sure Bolton don't have the form but do have the fixtures. And at 4mill, not likely to play that many matches for me.

Good man. They have obviously had a horror run of fixtures, and the norwich result is the worry in that run. But im confident in Coyle turning it around. Think there will be a couple of clean sheets to be had. Likely when he's sitting 3rd sub! I like Petrov, but i just dont have room for him. Think Ramsey around the same price is a better pick

Indeed flynn but it's not so much that they've been conceding, more the manner in which they just seem to open the gates. What I've seen they're leaving loads of space when they get forward and giving lots of clear cut chances to the opposition. I've got petrov and am confident in his potential but bolton defenders make no sense when I have simpson, n.taylor & woodgate for bargain prices.

Rooney might be handy in the derby but got loads of distraction around him (Red card, family problems). I'm hoping Liverpool and Arsenal will do compensate better. Bannan > Ramsey
since Agbonlahor is decent scoring prospect, In form.
but this week AVL could be defensive.

      Good, but not excellent.

If I was wild carding ATM my team would be something like this:

      Schwarzer, Vorm
Bos, Schawcross, Saylor, Naylor, defender to be decided, depending on rotation.
Ramsey, Silva, Petrov, Dyer to be decided DVD, Nani on the short list
RVP, Suarez, Sturridge with plan to have Aguero in GW 10 and Rooney in GW 11, The WC give u excellent option to go up in the rankings.

      Cheers,
