It’s a pared-down Scribbles on the menu this morning, ahead of today’s press conferences. More on the Carlos Tevez saga, Kenny Dalglish continues to urge caution over Steven Gerrard and Arsene Wenger reckons he has plenty of options for the Arsenal right-back spot…

Reports in the Guardian suggest Roberto Mancini and Carlos Tevez held peace talks at the Man City manager’s house late Wednesday evening. Tevez, however, refused to apologise for his behaviour at the Allianz Arena over a fortnight ago and as a result, was forced to train alone yesterday after his two-week club ban was served.

Tony Pulis has some selection problems ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Fulham. Stoke face a run of seven games over twenty days and Pulis is sweating over the fitness of Matt Etherington, Jermaine Pennant, Marc Wilson and Kenwyne Jones as the Cottagers make their way to the Britannia. Speaking to the club’s official website, Pulis acknowledged:

All the lads are training and in with a shout of returning, but it’s a massive call because of all the games we have coming up. We don’t want to rush players back too quickly and then find they have to miss a couple of weeks because they have a reaction.

Despite Bacary Sagna’s absence with a broken ankle, Arsenal have plenty of alternatives for the right-back role, according to Arsene Wenger. The Gunners boss was speaking to Arsenal Player yesterday and feels he has several strong options available, ahead of Sunday’s home game with Sunderland:

We have Jenkinson, we have Koscielny – who has been educated as a right-back – we have Djourou who can play right-back. Koscielny was always a right-back, so he can play there. Even Andre Santos can play there, I think, so we have plenty of possibilities.

Kenny Dalglish remained coy over the possibility of Steven Gerrard starting against Man United in Saturday’s early kick-off at Anfield. While the papers are full of stories suggesting the Reds skipper is a nailed-on starter, Dalglish was a little more cautious yesterday when discussing Gerrard’s long-term groin problem and insisted his skipper’s star performances in previous campaigns will have no bearing on his thinking:

We’ll continue to manage it as well as we have done. We’re not in any position to sit here and disclose our team for two days’ time. But we’re delighted with the progress he’s made and the way he’s been looked after, and we’ll just continue to do that. When we think he’s ready to play, he’ll be the first to answer the call….It’s not to do with what he’s done against Manchester United before. We don’t look back into history and see what he’s done to Manchester United.

Nemanja Vidic’s return to action last Tuesday for Serbia looks set to hand Sir Alex Ferguson a major boost for the Liverpool game. Plagued with a calf problem, the Man United skipper has failed to feature since the opening day of the season but Fergie hinted he’ll leave it to the player himself to decide whether he’s ready for the Anfield showdown:

The big question mark is whether Vidic is ready for the game. Nemanja came in yesterday and felt okay, but a Liverpool game is such an intense, draining affair, you want everybody to be 100 per cent. It may be down to how he feels himself, we’ll have to see.

Gabby Agbonlahor is looking likely to be passed fit for Aston Villa’s testing trip to Man City. Alex McLeish’s side put their unbeaten record on the line at the Emirates and according to the Villa boss, Agbonlahor’s back problem came through an intensive training session unscathed yesterday:

Gabby has trained. We are very pleased with the way he has trained. Today was the most intense session for him. We put him through it a wee bit and he came through with flying colours. We expect him, barring a nightmare in training tomorrow, to be okay for the game at City.

Leon Britton is set to feature for Swansea this weekend, after missing the previous game against Stoke. While the Swans defence and the likes of Scott Sinclair have been the focus of most of the attention, Brendan Rodgers has hailed the midfielder as integral to his first-team and is delighted to welcome him back ahead of the trip to Carrow Road.

He’s been fantastic for us this season. Leon offers the team so much balance and control and it’s good to have him available for selection.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Sturridge & Richards or N.Taylor & Suarez? Wildcarding and already thinking of vorm and have kompany. Apart from the man u game, liking the prospect of doubling up on city's defence. But suarez looks tasty after this weekend. Thoughts appreciated. (Ade and RVP would be my other forwards)

The only problem with anyone other than Kompany is the definite chance of rotation. Suarez is probably the safer long term option with Adebeyour and RVP

Would be pretty upset if big ShawX rose tonight after seeing Moses drop again last night. I hate how i pay attention t otransfers and my net team value is 99.6 and people in my league who dont have a clue are on 103/104 🙁

Because I've had players like Cole Nzogbia Taarabt Sincliar Moses Bent who were all dropping at the same time. Without taking a massive hit i held strong. If i didnt pay attention to prices i'd be on about 92.0

Lol, clearly a Sturridge owner! His two goals against Bolton were the result of pretty bad defending.

Drogba is about 100 times better than Sturridge. I recall a wonder goal against Everton a few years back 🙂

Hey guys, is this a strong enough starting line-up for this weekend?

    Vorm
    Ward, Bosingwa, Kompany
Moses, Dyer, Mata, Young (VC), Silva (C)
    Agbonlahor, Adebayor

Subs: Krul, Simpson, Aguero, De Laet

Adebayor potentially may not play, meaning that Simpson would be subbed in. I could do Aguero -> RVP for a freebie, but I feel a bit empty not having Aguero or Rooney in my team. Any suggestions guys???

I'm not too keen on the RVP bandwagon baring disastorous form in mind.

I imagine you'll lose less value doing Adebayor > Sturridge for 1 week rather than Aguero - but with each as likely to start as the other it might be best to just sit pretty and save a transfer?

Can't help but feel Ramsey has snowballed into a bit of a bandwagon here, from what I remember of his assists and goals they were chance encounters and he's been a bit sloppy aside from them.

Would it be madness to side with Walters over Ramsey?

Not madness at all. I'd personally pick Ramsey over him, some players just have a knack for picking up fantasy points regardless of their overall performance and he looks like one of them at the moment.

Certainly not. It's incumbent on the scouts to hang their hat on someone whereas the rest of us can procrastinate - two (I think) well argued articles on Ramsey will always convince a lot of people and for good reason. I have the same feelings as you about Ramsey and will be going with Petrov, Walters is another entirely plausible candidate. I don't think people are wrong for picking Ramsey, or that the scouts are wrong when they hghlight his potential, he's just not for me.

Ramsey is really cheap playing for Arsenal who have good fixtures.

He was awful against Spurs and was fortuante to score a goal. People cant expect RVP-like pointage from him, but I think at his price he is a great bet.

Its not too big a gamble - cheap, Arsenal score more goals than Stoke. I went Ramsey

I have a problem with injuries this week, not looking to do any knee jerk reactions as think team is OK, see below:

    Vorm (Al Habsi)
Bosingwa, Woodgate, Kompany, Evans - may be injured (Simpson)
Arteta, Bale, Nani (Moses, Reo Coker)
    Rooney, Adebayor, Aguero

I was thinking maybe dropping Adebayor for Sturridge and Arteta for Nasri, but this would be for at least 5 games, I don't like to make changes for the sake of them and have two free transfers this week. Long term Arteta would not be in my team but I only have 0.1 in the bank so would need to free some cash up and the front line would be where it would come from. Ideally would like Silva so other change in mind would be Silva for Arteta and Adebayor for (one of Fletcher, Ba or Andy Johnson).

Views on the above two changes?

Similar problem for me on my wildcard - choice of Adebeyour & Nasri or Sturridge & VDV - the latter because of Adebeyours injury and Nasri's rotation risk having just played 2 games in 4 days. That and Nasri will be facing ManU next week.

Getting rid of Adebayor for Suarez, swapping them back after GW11.

Happy enough with that. Plus Adebayor is up against The Best Defence In The Premier League 2011/12 this week. That's IF he plays.

    Morning all....
I have a couple of doubts on the team below if anyone can advise?

Enrique? Bench for Taylor this week or keep in against ManU?
Ramsey & RVP - Two Arsenal? Good fixtures but will it pay off?
    Better option than Sturridge?

    Vorm (Given)
    Enrique, Boswinga, Kompany (Taylor, Simpson)
    Ramsey, Silva, Nani, Murphy (Ferguson)
    Sturridge, Rooney(V), RVP(C)

I'd play Enrique over Taylor for the chance of assists and BP's & stick to Sturride while he can shine with Torres suspended. I wouldn't make a change necessarily unless you wanted to swap Ramsey out for another set-piece midfielder

      Generic comment alert.

Your defence is quite expensive. Your front line is quite cheap. Your midfield is strong but Dempsey is quite expensive even when he's pushed up front, which at the moment he isn't.

    But anyway, back to business.

Not sure what to do this week! Team looks like:

    Vorm
    Enrique Ward Shawcross
    Bale Brunt Young Silva
    Rooney(c) Suarez Agbonlahor

Subs: Given Simpson Ben Arfa(!) Brown

Thinking of doing Young to Moses and Agbonlahor to RvP for 4 pt hit. Can upgrade Brunt or Ben Arfa then next week as I will have about 1.0 in bank. What ye think? Only problem is agbonlahors fixtures after this week are pretty juicy. But Arsenals fixtures apart from Chelsea are juicier

Just this time may be different. RVP has his touch back and is finally getting some supply with good fixtures ahead.

Man USA have difficult fixtures and rooneys mentality seems frayed. Could be another car crash. He has this week to prove it to me

ATTILA!!! Reading through earlier posts. Your situation is exactly the same as mine. Looking to get Suarez in next week, but want Ada this week if declared fit. First 4 pointer of the season if I do the transfer this GW.

Ha I like the plan. Well I'm 90% sure I'm going to do Suarez and Woodgate IN Adebayor and Ward OUT. Unless it becomes more certain that Adebayor will start, in which case I'll postpone him to Suarez until next week.

I'm feeling that after this weekend i'm gonna want to do:

    Moses > Bannan

    Brunt > Petrov

Leaving me with a mid of Bannan, Silva, Walcott, Petrov, NDyer... I can live with that even if De Laet is still warming my bench.

Okay, last questions from me - I promise.

    Krul
    De Laet Kompany Bosingwa
    Nani Mata Petrov Ramsey
    Dzeko RVP (c) Adebayor

    subs: Vorm, Jarvis, Ward, Brown.

Haven't actually made a transfer yet, so wondering what people think would be the best use of my freebie, or whether you think I should use it at all. Obviously if/when De Laet doesn't play, Ward will come in, which I'm okay with.

My main concern is that neither Adebayor or Dzeko play, leaving me with Brown coming in... But long term won't to keep Adebayor, and not sure what to think about Dzeko right now.

Any genius ideas?! Would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be tempted by the non-genius, non-exciting, non-remarkable Ward to Woodgate.

Probably doing Ward > Enrique, either this week or next.

Just because it's a solid medium term move and if you're umming and arring about pricier transfers then it serves as a spring clean in the meantime.

Looks fine to me. Tierney in for Delete would be the flair move clearly.

I reckon Dzeko will play. Would be tempted to swap Adebayor for Suarez (if poss) or Sturridge

Thing is, I'm pretty happy with Jarvis coming in for Adebayor, and then I'd definitely want him for bla QPR afterwards.

Dzeko is where the problem lies.

In that case I would just leave your forwards as they are. Dzeko surely has to play with Aguero a doubt and with a massive game in the CL in midweek

You also going to want Suarez for Norwich....

With not many options I'm pretty sure if Dzeko doesn't start he'll feature at some point. I'd leave everything as is and just keep your fingers crossed Dzeko starts and does well!

      Hi, i'm a genius.

      Jarvis -> Moses this week.

That will give you enough dollar to get in Suarez in for Dzeko next week.

So, it's Jarvis. But if you are keen on keeping him, how about Dzeko -> Sturridge this week and Mata -> Gerrard next week.

Am I mad for not changing Rooney to RVP....?

I have Ramsey in MF, and Rooney is my only United coverage....

    My team is as follows:

    Vorm (Given)

    R.Taylor, Bosingwa, Kompany (Ward) (Brown)

    Mata(VC), Silva(C), Jarvis, Ramsey (Dyer)

    Rooney, Agbonlahor, Suarez

    I have 1 free transfer....

Not mad whatsoever. Rooney has more than twice as many points as RVP this season.

Got a bit of a quandary - have a front line of Rooney, Aguero and Adebayor. Bit concerned about having only 1 striker this weekend, so was thinking about doing Aguero > RVP for the next 2 GW's.

Would get Aguero back in before RVP's away day at Chelsea I think. Would mean I take a 4 point hit and lose £0.2. Do you'll think it's worth it?
