The EA Sports PPI statistics are now available and the Fantasy Premier League bonus points have now been added to the game. Here’s a game by game breakdown of how this map out for gameweek eight…

Liverpool 1 Man United 1
Gerrard 3, Welbeck 2, Hernandez 1

Few surprises here – we predicted the 2 for Javier Hernandez but won’t begrudge Danny Welbeck a single bonus point for his display and assist on United’s equaliser. Steven Gerrard’s maximum was a foregone conclusion here given his goal and contribution to the Liverpool display.

Chelsea 3 Everton 1
Terry 3, Sturridge 2, Lampard 1

John Terry, always a strong scorer in the EA PPI, not surprisingly comes out on top, having also got on the scoresheet in the 3-1 win. As we predicted, Daniel Sturridge and Frank Lampard also reaped reward for their goal and assist contributions respectively.

Wigan 1 Bolton 3
Eagles 3, K Davies 2, Diame 1

Chris Eagles was our top ICT Index performer of the week and was also top of the EA PPI rankings. Three bonus points will follow for the Bolton man but, while we predicted returns for Nigel Reo-Coker and David Ngog, it was Kevin Davies (despite his penalty miss) and Wigan’s Mohamed Diame who earned higher PPI totals.

QPR 1 Blackburn 1
Samba 3, Helguson 2, Lowe 1

Although honours were even at Loftus Road, our prediction based on our ICT figures fared well, with Blackburn’s Chris Samba picking up a strong EA PPI total – the third highest in the gameweek. QPR’s scorer Heidar Helguson ranked second in this match, with Blackburn’s Jason Lowe set for a single bonus point for his PPI tally.

Man City 4 Aston Villa 1
Balotelli 3, Johnson 2, Kompany 1

Mario Balotelli earned the top PPI total in this match for his acrobatic opener, with Adam Johnson’s goal and assist earning the winger number two spot. Vincent Kompany demonstrated his newfound threat from set-pieces by claiming a goal- enough to earn him the single bonus point.

Norwich City 3 Swansea 1
Pilkington 3, Martin 2, Barnett 1

With a brace of goals, Anthony Pilkington was amongst the top ICT and EA PPI performers this weekend and it’s no surprise to see him claim the three bonus from this one. We predicted Russell Martin for a strong PPI, but didn’t see Leon Barnett’s single bonus point coming – he continues to score heavily in EA PPI terms and remains a bonus darling as a result. He just edged out our prediction for the remaining bonus – Bradley Johnson.

Stoke 2 Fulham 0
Walters 3, Delap 2, Etherington 1

As expected, Jon Walters collected the top EA PPI score from this home win, with Rory Delap ranking second and Matt Etherington, with two assists, coming in third. Andy Wilkinson was Stoke’s top defensive performer, sharing a PPI score with both Jermaine Pennant and Asmir Begovic.

West Brom 2 Wolves 0
Brunt 3, Foster & Reid 2

Chris Brunt picks up his first bonus points of the season with a top ranking EA PPI display in the local derby victory for the Baggies. Ben Foster was the top rated keeper in both the ICT Index and EA PPI rankings and, subsequently, he fetched the two bonus here; while we predicted Peter Odemwingie for the single bonus, it turns out that Steven Reid collected an identical PPI to Foster and will share two bonus points. Billy Jones came in next on the PPI rankings but was denied a bonus by that share.

Arsenal 2 Sunderland 1
Van Persie 3, Koscielny 2, Larsson 1

Robin Van Persie was amongst the top five PPI performers in the gameweek and dominated this match to collect the inevitable maximum bonus. Few would have seen Laurent Koscielny’s PPI score of 22 coming however; that’s going to earn him two bonus points with Sunderland’s scorer, Seb Larsson, picking up a single bonus as expected.

Newcastle 2 Tottenham 2
Ba & Taylor & Van der Vaart 3

We’ve a share at the top of the PPI rankings in this match with both Demba Ba and Rafael Van der Vaart set to earn 3 bonus points for their 22 point totals. Jonas Gutierrez has to make do with a single bonus for his display then, although the PPI scores from this match are still under review with the assist for Shola Ameobi’s goal seemingly awarded to Yohan Cabaye rather than Ryan Taylor.

*Edit* As indicated, this match was reviewed and, with the award of the assist to Ryan Taylor, he tied with Ba and Van der Vaart at the top of the PPI. The three bonus points were therefore shared between all three players.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Best Taarabt replacement?
I know Petrov didn't score this weekend but he has otherwise or is Eagles a viable option?
Walters looks like a good pick tough fixture this week but then my defence has good fixtures so can easily play 4-3-3.

Not sure, Walter as you said is perfect for you as you can cover his hard fixture.
Petrov is just assured more since he's on set pieces, Don't know about the reliability of Eagles...
But Walters seems fine if you cover him this week

I'd want to get Walters and would be able to avoid a .2-.3 swing in prices however he'd then have 2 fixtures before I'd play him which is a bit dodgy.

Mata, VDV, Adebayor, Sturridge or Suarez all have the fixtures out of my front 7
Dont wanna captain Nani or Silva in the derby as it could be 0-0 (saying that it could be 3-3 also)

Looks like 51 (-4) for me this week with bonus added...the 4 pointer was R.Taylor and SWP > VDV and Kompany so pretty happy with that...although im not happy with captain Silva's 1 pointer (seriously tossed up between him, Mata, Kompany and VDV) had it on Bad K until last minute! haha ohwell..such is fpl

Look, guys, please. We all know that the bonus points system is 'different' and doesn't seem fair. I couldn't agree more, but there is no need to moan every bloody Monday about it. At the end of the day, If you have a goalscorer, you'll get points. If there is an assist in the mix, you may too. Deal with it, and lets talk about other more important (FPL!) issues 🙂

Well, I've sat on my 2 free transfers for two weeks now, how good am I! What do people think here, for next GW - Mata and Hernandez out - Rooney and Ramires in? Can see Rooney kicking in again after this GW. If Arteta does nothing next GW, he'll be replaced for GW 10. Big disappointment for me this season: 1,9,2,8,3,2,2. Not good enough.

I know Mata hasn't been peppering the goal with shots but I'd say he's looking a good bet to pick up a goal or 2 over the next few games.

Thing is, I tossed up between Mata, VDV and Nani - Still think Nani and VDV are better picks but VDV has an injury doubt at the time and I didn't like Nani's fixtures.

Question is, will people be holding onto Mata regardless of fixtures or swapping to VDV/Nani/Silva (if they don't have him already)

Just do Hernandez in my opinon...

Get rid of Mata, and you´ll be sorry, the dude´s from La Liga, he basically controlled the game. Let him figure out how to get his. It´s like if Kobe were to play in Italy this season and you´re criticizing him because he´s only scoring 15 pts and 6 assists a game. Hell Alex Song is more ambitious...and dare I say Rosicky is more ambitious than Arteta. Don´t pick on your point getter...

Why all the doubt on Mata

I dont get it 1 goal and 3 assists in his first ever matches in PL

He will only get better once he settles in 100 %

Compare him to say young been in Pl for years has 1 great match v arsenal and disappeared since , I know which i would rather have long term.

Very apt, but I don't even think he will sneak that many goals in on the people before the scouting report caves in (or his hammy) on him.

Not in Anfield, the power of a goal down tends to pop the cork. I am afraid Kenny is gonna f%#k with the people again and dumb it down with that poor man's Norwegian knock-down ball. They just have been a team of multiple personalities. They scare me too much to be saddled with two money picks. Suarez and Stevie G seem the two safest. I feel for Carroll holders...whoever they are.

Think I can take it, he will be 3rd sub this week. Will need to go soon though, just seems a bit of a waste to get rid and having to bench Sinclair/Ramsey for his replacement.

Morning guys. This will be the first Monday this season when I can actually come on having had a decent score (60 after BPs)... long overdue!

Anyway, Suarez is now on my radar (for Leon Best), but is anybody in the same boat of having Sturridge and RVP too? Both of those are in hot form and bringing in Suarez will make it very hard to bring in Aguero in. Not due to money, but breaking up a front 3 of Suarez / Sturridge / RVP.

    Any thoughts on the above?

If I understand correctly, you don't want to transfer Suarez in because you won't want to get rid later? haha

Haha... well Suarez could be a short term transfer, but yeah... if you bring him in, it would be hard to get shut after 3 GWs.

Might also sound crazy, but I think Blackburn will give Tottenham a tough time. Rooney should be up for the derby, especially after being benched at the weekend. Wait to hear news on Ramsey.

Coming off a 1-1 draw away they could be feeling confident. I really don't think it will be a high scoring game.

Cheers. I checked your team yesterday, unlucky with warnock but i'd never had played him either. Its always good to see a good score after your WC.

It's going to be really hard to prove. but if he is banned i'll rely on my bench this GW cant afford to take a hit. If not he's my Captain 🙂

Yeah I don't mind about not having Warnock, been lucky enough elsewhere! Feels like I am set for a little while now, who knows maybe I'll get an even better score next week! Still don't like not having Rooney though....

Very hard to prove, I think it'll probably just end up getting dropped. Then he's coming in as my captain as well 🙂

How does , SWP -> Larson sound, okay or knee-jerky,
been in good form and sunderland have good fixtures,
I know hes suspended for one but i can cover him for one week,
Or can anyone suggest any other good replacement for SWP,
I have to get rid of SWP, Woodgate and De Laet,
Two free transfers and 0.2 mil in the bank .
    any suggestions?

    Hi,

Has anyone watched carefully who made the assist for S. Ameobi's goal vs Tottenham? I am convinced that it is neither Ben Arfa nor Cabaye, but R. Taylor who makes the assist! See the second video on this link: http://www.soccer-blogger.com/2011/10/16/newcastle-vs-tottenham-2011-highlights-2-2-video-spurs-goals-defoe-ameobi/. 1) pause at 3:53 min of the video to see R. Taylor passing the ball to Ameobi; 2) pause at 3:55 to see the proof of it: from top to bottom: 23. Ameobi, 16. R. Taylor, 4. Cabaye, 10. Ben Arfa! Besides, right after Tiotte's header in 3:53 of this video the ball goes to R. Taylor, not Cabaye. What do you think?

I'm deliberaying over it myself my only problem is that you wouldnt be keen on captaining incase he didnt play the 90. So im thinking of Nani & Hernandez and captaining Nani. but then again, you'd always fear Rooney, who i think, is going to dip in form.
