Arsene Wenger confirms Robin Van Persie will be fit for next weekend. Royston Drenthe admits there’s much much to come from him, now he’s match-fit, while Rafael Van der Vaart reckons his hamstring problems are now behind him. Here’s this morning’s Scribbles, folks:

Arsene Wenger’s post-match press conference comments will be reassuring to Fantasy owners of Robin Van Persie. The Dutchman was, of course, named amongst the substitutes for the game against Stoke and came off the bench to score twice. The Gunners boss commented on his skipper’s omission, saying it was nothing more than a rest:

Muscular tightness. I took nineteen players because I wasn’t even sure to involve him on the team sheet. We made a check and he was medically alright to be on the bench. I looked at the number of games he played and the history he has- you have to be cautious. He played two full games for Holland then he played the whole game against Sunderland- he had to dig deep, he played up front alone against Marseille…

When asked if Van Persie would be fully fit for this weekend’s game with Chelsea, Wenger confirmed:

Yes. He was not injured (against Stoke), it was just tight muscular- he will be fit.

Adel Taarabt still pines for a move to PSG. The Moroccan almost left QPR in the summer after being linked with the big-spending French giants for months but the transfer ultimately failed to materialise. According to Taarabt, this was down to sporting director Leonardo having doubts about his temperament and admits that while the club promised him they’d reassess the situation in the new year, he’s not getting his hopes up.

The Qatar officials told me ‘do another great six months and in January we will be back’. However, I am under no illusion. I know I am not Leonardo’s priority.

Kolo Toure has also thrown his hat into the ring for a move to Paris. The centre-half has struggled for game time at Man City since coming back from a six month ban and, speaking to RMC Sport admitted:

If the name of Paris comes, it will not be like previous years.I would be interested because of the competition there currently is at City. Now if they call me, I would listen to what they say. Given the very good players there are there, it really makes you want to go there, it’s clear.

Shane Long could be sidelined for up to six weeks after a challenge from Alan Hutton forced him out last weekend’s Midlands derby. A scan on his knee revealed the West Brom forward has severe bone bruising and a small bone chip inside the right knee. This would enhance the Fantasy prospects of Somen Tchoyi over the next few gameweeks then, with the Cameroonian a strong favourite to see more game time in a forward role alongside Peter Odemwingie.

Rafael Van der Vaart admits he has sympathy for Jermain Defoe as the two battle for a place alongside Emmanuel Adebayor up front for Tottenham. The Dutchman is clearly winning the tussle, despite a strong start to the domestic season for Defoe, who has scored 3 goals already, just 1 less than last season’s tally. Van der Vaart also spoke of his problematic hamstring, declaring he is completely injury-free right now:

I feel that I am a starting player so I am not worried about starting, but of course I feel sorry for Jermain. I feel also that we can play together, so we will have to see what happens throughout the season…I am now 100 per cent fit. I am playing and I am scoring goals – I can’t do any more than that. Every day I am feeling better. I do not have to manage the injury, now I can do whatever I need to do on the pitch. In the beginning you have to be quite careful and you feel scared a little bit but now I hope it stays like this.

Steve Bruce has set Nicklas Bendtner a target of 15 league goals for Sunderland this season. The big Dane has had an immediate impact since his loan move to Wearside, returning 2 goals, 3 assist and 5 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in five matches and, wiith a favourable run of fixtures on the horizon, looks set for Fantasy investment. His boss talked up Bendtner’s goalscoring abilities

Nick is a good finisher – a very good finisher – and there’s no reason why he cannot get 15 goals a season. I think Nick has found it difficult because Arsenal play one up front, which is Robin Van Persie, so he has not had the opportunity to play where he wants to play.I think he suffered because he was not playing regularly at Arsenal. I don’t care how good you are or which club you are at, if you do not play regularly it becomes very difficult. He is getting that now…I think there is a lot more to come from Nicklas.

Kenny Dalglish has praised Craig Bellamy after the Welshman grabbed a goal in his first league start for Liverpool since returning to the club. Bellamy was handed a role out wide in the 1-1 draw against Norwich but, while Luis Suarez spurned chance after chance, managed to find the net and his manager has been delighted with his approach:

He has been brilliant. He just loves playing football and wants to play all the time.He would certainly be much happier if he was playing more but he understands the situation maybe more than when he was younger. He will make a contribution for us.

With a goal and two assists in his first league start for Everton, Royston Drenthe underlined his capabilities to David Moyes last Sunday. The Dutchman reckons there’s plenty more to come from him and admits his manager’s training regime has helped him improve his fitness considerably:

Before I started to play, the manager killed me in training. He made me run a lot and now I feel really fit and great. That’s what I wanted – to be sharp. I don’t want not to be fit and then come into a game and not be able to handle the pressure. I feel good now. The fans can expect more.

Aston Villa have appealed the red card handed to Chris Herd on Saturday afternoon against West Brom. The player was dismissed for an alleged stamp on Jonas Olsson but Alex McLeish is confident the ban will be rescinded, after tv replays suggested the linesman got it wrong:

We think we’ve got a good cause to lodge the appeal. He (Cann) made a guess, he’s seen something and guessed that Chris stamped. We’ve spoken through official channels and I’ve got to keep that private but am sure they’ll agree there has been a mistake.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Why on earth would you want to gamble on 2 Stoke defenders?

Begovic was woeful against Arsenal. Culpable for letting two easy goals and I doubt Demba Ba, Leon Best or Shola Ameobi will be ruffled by Stoke's aggressiveness.

Needs must...........need to pick one from each...
    tricky choice between fixtures/form:
N.Dyer (form, well more than moses at least) vs. Moses (fixtures)
    Brunt (form) or Petrov (fixtures)
Kompany (fixtures) or Enrique (form [crosses rather than CS])
    Suarez (fixtues) or RvP (form)

we've been worrying about Moses for 9 weeks now, hasn't even remotely looked like happening.

and i went for Enrique over Kompany for his assist-ability and i expect WOL to sneak a cheeky goal (as in 6-1)

First one could go either way.
Brunt. Likely to be involved with most of their goals.
Kompany. Will get more clean sheets and Enrique won`t get enough assists to compensate.
RVP. Consistently done it over a long period of time. No contest.

      Moses, Petrov, Assou-Ekotto and RVP.

I don't see much to pick between Dyer and Moses so I go with fixtures.

Petrov is a great player and if anybody in the Bolton squad is going to come good, it's him. It's another tight one since Brunt has more set piece duties but West Brom's fixtures don't promise many returns.

Assou-Ekotto because Spurs have nice fixtures practically all the way through 'til January and he could well chip in with an assist or two himself. He's cheaper than Enrique (and way more so than Kompany), should keep more clean sheets 'til Christmas, presents zero rotation risk and is only 6 points behind the Liverpool man despite being part of a unit that shipped 8 in the first two games.

RVP is the man and Arsenal have West Brom, Norwich, Fulham and Wigan after Chelsea. Suarez has been misfiring a bit although he was unlucky not to score last time out.

As a Spurs fan, it's just payback for the two allowed non-goals near the end of last season which would have - had all other fixtures gone the same - put us in the Champions League.

As an impartial spectator, there's nothing funnier than people claiming refereeing bias against their club. Bad decisions happen all the time and if you cherrypick your examples you can build a case for a conspiracy against anyone.

As someone who just doesn't like Chelsea, the QPR game was absolutely hilarious to watch, and if Bosingwa didn't deserve to go off (although he did) then Terry certainly did for constant dissent.

Was anybody prior to Sunday's game not taking City seriously as title contenders?

I'm getting pretty miffed with this monotonous media spin that no one was paying them respect and they somehow answered all the doubters.

Was it not just what is widely accepted to be a top team showing their ruthless streak and relentlessly punishing an overly cavalier 10 man team?

The media jumped firmly on the Man U bandwagon from early on in the season and have now taken the opposite stance and backing City to the max.

I think most sensible punters realise there will be plenty ups and downs for City, United and Chelsea before the title is decided.

Sunday was a huge mental boost for City but United will bounce back quickly.

seems strange that people are saying aguero won't play this weekend.

he was subbed after 70 mins on sunday - his first start for 3 weeks. he won't play Carling Cup tomorrow. he will be needed for Villareal away for sure but will need to sharpen up at the weekend. Basically if folk are saying he will get 10 mins, that will equate to around 100 minutes of football in 3.5 weeks before the Villareal game. Plus with it being on a Wednesday it's an extra day to recover. Next weekend could be a rotation risk but not this week.

    Stay strong Aguero owners!

Personally I only take a hit if the player I'm taking out defo won't play (preferable for a couple of weeks), I don't have cover on the bench and the player I'm bringing is will probably score 4 or more in his next game and is a good mid-term pick.

Wouldn't take a hit on that team as all your players are fit and start.

I rarely take points hits anymore and I'm doing better because of it. I'd never take a hit to get a defender because even if they do keep a clean sheet you're only making 2 points profit. I'd take a hit for someone sure to start and sure to get points, for instance, if Aguero was the only fit striker at home against Wolves.

dyer, nani, silva, VDV (c) (moses)

De laet needs to go in the long run and I'm looking to get a stoke defender in.
I need to get arsenal cover in somehow...ramsey, RVP but I can probably avoid this week.
Also, I'm looking to get pilkington for either dyer or moses as he has impressed me.

How would I go about making all this happen? I think i'd have to get rid of nani or someone else to make it happen due to funds but I kind of want to keep my trio of VDV, Silva and Nani.

I would personally forget about De Laet for now, until you have your team the way you want. Downgrade Bosingwa to a stoke defender(as you wish) this week so youll still have 2 frees next week. Then either next week or after the international break, down grade lets say Nani to someone like Walters or Drenthe and bring in RVP for Suarez once his nice run of fixtures end.

Alot of different opinions on Aguero this week. Some think he wont be seen for the light of day, some think he'll be a sub, others think he'll play 70 mins and a few think he'll play 90 and run riot. I for one feel he'll start and score a couple and be subbed off late on. What do the rest of you think?

Enrique ShawX S.Taylor (Ferdinand, De Laet)

    Silva Mata VDV Sinclair (Jarvis)

    RVP Sturridge Suarez

have 0.8 in the bank. Mata -> Nani? Or next week I could downgrade Mata to Ramsey and that would free up a lot of cash. I'm also worried about my lack of city cover. What looks better for GW 11:

    A) Nani, Suarez

    B) Nani, Balotelli/Dzeko

    C) Ramsey, Aguero

I think you need some ManU cover in there so that you dont have to get so many in when they have a greta run of fixtures... Maybe even Mata to Nani or something on those lines because Mata isn't performing in my opinion.
You have more chance of points Nani Vs Everton then Mata vs Arsenal i think.

I’m considering bringing him in after the Arsenal game for Adebayor since I already got VDV.

Milner has 3rd highest ppg...6.3! Only DVD and Silva beats him.

Of he plays he scores big. hhhmmm....

Personally I hate that Goalie combo, and they don't rotate too well anymore which is doubly concerning since you've also got Norwich and Swansea defenders.

Other than that, a little spurs wouldn't go amiss. I would consider dropping one of Nani/Rooney.

True but ruddy was the only keeper in my budget.
Should I sort out my defense/keepers before trying to improve my strikers and midfield?

Dunno, I think your defence is OK it's it own right, just don't like Ruddy. I would consider swapping Raylor for Wilkinson/Upson this week or Rooney for Adebayor.

And Sturridge doesn't carry the painful memory recall.

I've put Torres in on the grounds that he finally is looking like a better player...and it's hurt me before. However, I may give him another go and go with 3 big names up front for the duration of Drogba's suspension (with RVP and Suarez) - don't seem to be many points in defence at the minute. If he fails again, I'll pick up a cheap third striker and boost my midfield. I'm giving it one last roll of the dice...

The old Spidey Senses tell me that a 1-6 drubbing will be the catalyst for some United clean sheets (if they are capable of such a thing). Don't really like any of the options though, (then again...(spots Rafael returning from injury just at the right time to march straight back in to a starting role) 5.4 hmmm, maybe leave it for a week or two.

i think the focus for Man U is scoring goals and winning. that might sound like stating the obvious but their focus is EPL points not clean sheets.

i think they will continue to win but also ship a few goals too.

I dream of a day that Fabio presents a nailed on 4.4 way into Man U's defense.

The point i'm making is that they will tighten up, and at 5.4 Rafael is decent value (most importantly if he had come back a few weeks ago he would have needed to depose Smalling and Jones to get back in, but after a 6-1 no ones place is safe).... see fergie interview after the game on crazy full back play by United in the last quarter.

I can see a lot of defence practice being sternly drilled in on the ManU training days too...

+ When Vidic is back and proper on form, he just gives an extra energy to provide those Clean sheets.
