A strong run of upcoming fixtures sees Kyle Walker make a significant jump in our recently updated Watchlist rankings.

With clean sheet returns at an absolute minimum of late – a mere five have been recorded right across the board in the previous two Gameweeks – the hunt is on for defenders who can deliver at the attacking end of the field. There’s little doubt that Tottenham’s schedule affords Walker a better chance of returns than the majority of Fantasy defenders on offer right now.

Priced at 5.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Walker is not exactly a cut-price option but a goal, assist and 3 bonus points in his last three games highlight his strength going forward. With Harry Redknapp’s side in a rich vein of form, his ability to lend weight to their attacking ploys could be crucial, as Fantasy managers scratch around for points at the back.

Indeed, a look at the FPL points so far show Walker, with 31, is third-top for Spurs, behind only Rafael Van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor and ahead of the likes of Luka Modric (30) and Gareth Bale (26). His points total for the season is just a couple behind both Jose Enrique and Jose Bosingwa, though while the pair have ownership of 27.8% and 26.5% respectively, Walker has remained well under the radar- so far, he’s been selected by a mere 2.5% of FPL managers.

With (QPR, ful, AVL, wba, BOL, sto) to come in the next six, then, the Fantasy potential is obvious – if injuries at the back can clear, Spurs may even surpass our expectations for clean sheets in that spell. Certainly, if they are to maintain the form that has seen them win five out of six games, Walker’s barnstorming right flank runs could prove pivotal as Redknapp’s side look to push on in their quest for a Champions League slot.

I heard a while back that tottenham-everton game could now be played in GW12, giving both teams a double gameweek, anyone know if this is still likely/definite?

If so tottenham players would seem even more valuable these next few weeks.

was thinking about either r taylor -> shawcross or woodgate -> wilkinson.

Currently have Kompany Enrique Simpson Raylor and Woodgate, thinking that 2 newcastle defenders are too much but no fixtures (woodgate) must surely be worse than though fixtures?

shawcoss would be great to have but (according to what i read on here) simpson maybe a rotation risk so that could leave you with 2 nonplaying def's. woodgate to wilkinson looks a good move (for now 🙂 )

Ok question, why does everybody love the Stoke defense so much? They have 4 clean sheets this year and had only 9 last year. Sunderland has 3 this year and had 13 last year. I can't see much difference between Newcastle/QPR/Blackburn and Villa/Fulham/Wigan. Just seems odd to me.

But you can be certain those cleansheets will only come at home.

      So there we have RELIABILITY

Also they transfered Upson and Woodgate? in over the summer. Things can only get better.

Nothing wrong with it, but there are several teams with 4, and a bunch more with 3. I guess I think Stoke's defense is overrated, based largely on last season, but people have it in their head that Stoke are very tight in their back without any reason.

Stoke have 3 clean sheets at home and the only goal they conceded at home was against Man United. 2 out of 3 of Sunderland's clean sheets have been away from home.

I have Turner and Woodgate in my team however.

Not a daft question, it's just that their fixtures have turned for the better:- NEW bol QPR BLA eve TOT wol is there next 7 fixtures and they are still pretty solid through tough start. I'm sorely tempted myself but generally don't make transfers on defenders if I can help it.

    Fantasy's a cruel game.
Brought in Suarez for Dzeko to be captain (after Silva's captain cameo the week before) instead of RVP.
Early on, with Dzeko and RVP on bench, it looks like a brilliant decision. By the end, it's a disaster where doing nothing from the previous week was the best course.

Next time, I'll have them, they'll start on the bench and do nothing as subs. It it wasn't for bad luck.....all kidding aside, more important than player selection is captain and bench decisions. Last year, my optimal performance from the players I had would have made me first overall and I'm sure that's true for about 100,000 other teams.

You and many others , nearly me! I stuck to my guns at the last minute of sticking to a longish term plan and not going so strongly with the 'hype' player of that GW i.e Iwasn't convinced of Saurez but preferred Dzeko from start and knowing that Liv's fixtures were toughening up I resisted on getting him in, at 11.31 I regretted that because everyone was convinced he was going to score big but it paid off. Easily could have panned out differently, especially when you see how the games panned out but that's why this games so much fun.
Judgement maybe but a lot of luck. I'm going with gut instinct this year and trying not to listen to obvious intelligent reasoning this year!

4 goals in 9 isn't too bad, I don't mind having players in my fantasy team that take loads of shots (would piss me off in real life, though!)

Not sure if it's been asked before but does anyone know if Drenthe is a likely starter? He's only played a full game in the last one, but the Watchlist doesnt show him as a rotation risk. He might be a useful replacement for Barton.

    cheers, guys

interestin that nasri johnson and dzeko start, ballo and milner on the bench, no aguero, silva. wonder if that means that ballo, milner may start at the weekend with aguero, silva makin an appearence ahead of the cl game next weds

i still think they might be rested, but its all just guesswork right now. they might get a wee cameo to keep them fresh but i wouldn't think they will get 90 mins. Villareal is a must win game

aye therefore aguero and silva will need to be fit for it, so i reckon theyll only get a run out on sat unless city are doing poorly. unsure about ballo, dzeko for prem or cl game, but now think milner will start on sat.

all guess work as you say lol, but i need to reason with myself

Some very strong looking team sheets, slightly worried that the likes of Cabaye, Shawcross and Suarez are playing.

Also, would like Everton-Chelsea to go to extra time...
