For those Fantasy managers who captained Luis Suarez last weekend, there was a bitter irony to the Uruguayan’s brace at the Britannia last night…

Liverpool’s game with Norwich saw Suarez manage double figure goal attempts but a defiant display by John Ruddy in the visitors’ goal, combined with some wayward finishing, left him goalless

Having netted the second, and decisive, goal of the Carling Cup win, Suarez was removed by Kenny Dalglish with four minutes left on the clock. Reports suggest he left the field limping – this was confirmed by Dalglish in the post-match press conference…

“He got kicked right at the end of the first half. He turned Jonathan Woodgate. He made contact with him but he tried to stay on his feet to take the chance. That’s where he hurt his leg. That just emphasises what we say about the wee man. He had the opportunity to stay on his feet and did.”

While at present there’s no reason to suggest Suarez will miss out on this weekend’s trip to West Brom, Fantasy managers are clearly having second thoughts about him right now, regardless of a possible injury doubt. So far this week, he’s been transferred out by over 35,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, the most of any forward in the game, though he’s still the second most-owned forward, second only to Wayne Rooney.

With a match at home to Swansea in gameweek 11, there is some merit in retaining Suarez, particularly given the poor form of Brendan Rodgers’ side on the road. The following two gameweeks see Liverpool face Chelsea and Man City, however, and many will perhaps be planning an exit strategy at this point.

Last night’s “knock” could well be similar to the situation involving Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen – a muscular problem amounting to nothing more than cramp. Certainly Suarez appeared to be in good spirits as Liverpool saw out the final minutes of last night’s tie, but Fantasy managers will be waiting on more news from Anfield in the next 24-hours before making decisions ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Imp Ta...you around for some help? You helped me well at the end of last season so always value your opinion! Currently on WC after a horror-start. First time ive wc'd before Feb for 3 years!
anyhoo...it's done now...you cant unpress that button sadly! Lots of areas of confusion currently but what are your views on:
Mignelot vs. Al Habsi (partner ruddy, got N.Taylor in Def)
    Sess vs. Walters
    Brunt vs. Petrov
    Moses vs. Dyer

(alternatively i could ditch Ramsey, as have RvP, and go with Pilk-float, Sess, Walters and Brunt and forever give up searching for that elusive 4,7m....!)

thanks. that's where i was originally. Kinda got sidetracked into mixing it all up again...
not least because everyone is giving up on Moses (not unfairly)
If Pilkington can keep up recent form then i can see his worth...but i think he's capable of a run of 2 pointers....

      Glad to help Connor.

      Mignolet vs. Al Habsi
With keepers it is all about a good rotation for me. You seem set on Ruddy, not sure on this alone to be honest but it's obviously for value as his fixtures are poor in my view. Anywho, in which case I would defo say Mignolet as that gives you (BLA avl FUL WIG wol BLA) rather than Al Habsi which would give you (BLA wol BLA sun ARS wba).

      Sess vs. Walters
I think either are good options. Both have 4 decent home games in the next 6 but for me I think Sessegnon just shades it. In a close call like this I like to go for the better footballer in my own eyes and Sessegnon is definitely that and looked a lot more effective out wide at the weekend.

      Brunt vs. Petrov
Easy. With (LIV ars) up next for Brunt, I'm definitely going with Petrov on this one.

      Moses vs. Dyer
Dyer was really great at the weekend. He is an absolute bargain in that Swansea team, something a lot of us expected Moses to be for Wigan. I'm biased, I have Moselli and I do think he is due. Other than that though, Moses has the better fixtures as Dyer has (liv, MUN) in GW11 and GW12. For that reason alone I'd be going Moses.

      🙂

I have to offer an alternative opinion to some of this: I'd highlight that after those two fixtures, Brunt then has BOL TOT qpr WIG bla - not too shabby a run.

I'd go for Walters over Sess. I feel he has more potantial of bringing in the points.

Moses: I can't see why you would want to bring in someone who has not scored above 3 points in 9 games so far.

I accept your views but we will have to respectfully disagree.

Brunt fixtures aren't too shabby after GW12, agreed, but why bring him in now on a WC to probably bench him for two weeks?

Walters vs Sess is a very close call and you may be right about Walters bagging more points. The OOP lure of Walters is there too but I just feel Sess is coming to the boil now. Just different opinions.

Moses: He has been unlucky not to score more FPL points. You either believe that or you don't. I do.

I'd say Brunt is hitting good form. I'm considering playing him v Liverpool but we'll see. His set piece duties are a big advantage over Petrov in the longer term if Connor is looking a bit further ahead.

Agree Walters Sess is a close one.

Sorry just can't see your point with Moses and Dyer is a much better pick imo but as you say it's all about opinions.

thank you so much. summed up brilliantly...and agree on all points...except maybe for Petrov?
Brunt's fixtures not ideal...but i'd almost expect him to do more with LIV at home, than Petrov at the Liberty. + Brunt has pennas and a bit more form on his side. (Petrov hasnt got a bonus point all season!) Bolton's fixtures are better though...and i'd expect Bolton to finally win a game at some point! all that said, i had originally planned to go with Petrov!

Thanks though, really helpful. Happy to help you if needed -im always better with other people's teams than my own!

Figured out how I can get in VDV for a 4pt hit without getting rid of Nani…

    Bosingwa –> Wilkinson
    Sinclair –> VDV

    Will leave me with….

    Vorm
    Brown Wilkinson Kompany
    Nani Petrov Silva VDV
    RVP Sturridge Suarez

    Bench: Given Simpson Moses Senderos

    Thoughts?

I'd rather upgrade Petrov to VDV than Sinclair myself. I feel Sinclair means so much more to Swansea than Petrov does to Bolton. I'm pretty sure you can afford it through Petrov right?

if i wanted to get rid of petrov i'd have to do...

          kompany --> wilkinson
          petrov --> vdv

but i really don't want to get rid of my best defender in order to do it.

And I think Senderos is a lot of money to have on the bench. Maybe you'll have to break the trades over two weeks to be able to do it, because I think you'll be much better of doing Petrov->VDV than Sinclair->VDV

the thing is, the rest of my defence is fine imo.. i haven't really been that bothered about senderos. was gonna leave it and sort him out when i have some free transfers one week.

i think vdv is pretty much essential for the next 6 weeks or so?

unfortunately can't be done if i want vdv in. unless i take an 8pt hit and do..

                senderos --> taylor (swansea)
                petrov --> vdv
                bosingwa --> wilkinson

don't like taking 8pt hits though. especially for 2 defenders.

Not Aguero but yeah, I've decided to honour my duel with KoL and preparing for next weeks fixture changes so I dropped suarez and brought in Rooney. The other transfer is massively sideways but I really reallllly feel that Rooney/United are going to burst back into life against Everton 🙂

I really don't see the point in creating a whole article on a very minor injury to Suarez, all this is going to do is create 1000 newbs posting "Is Suarez passed fit?!?!?!?!?!" for the next 3 days, when normally this would go under the radar and he would be fine come the weekend.

The Suarez situation is a talking point and it was already being discussed within comments this morning. It makes more sense to offer up the quote from Dalglish and give it its own article. There's no scaremongering in the article and now folk can be referred to the facts outlined here rather than offered links elsewhere.

Right chaps... if you owned Young would you keep hold with a nice run coming up?

I'm not sure I'll fit Rooney into my Aguero/Sturridge/RVP front 3, which would mean either:
    Young / Nani / Clev

Really need some advice guys...this could make or break my season lol

I am currently sitting 2nd in my cash mini-league. The guys who are sitting 1st and 3rd are both captaining Aguero this week. My thoughts are, do I captain Aguero aswell and keep safe, or hope aguero only plays limited game time and scores low whilst i captain someone else over take over!

    Team is

    Vorm (Given)

    Boswinga Kompany Enrique (Simpson, Delaet)

    VDV Silva Ramsey Dyer Walters

    Rooney Aguero (Best)

So do i captain aguero or even play risky and go VDV or Silva???

Frank Lampard is about 7 million more than Mikel, they play in the same midfield...I know who I would prefer.
Same can be said for Aguero vs Balotelli, Nani vs Anderson etc. They are all just better picks.

Question regarding rules - Its not possible to play a 2-5-3 formation, however what if you only had 2 playing defenders in a GW, would the auto sub midfielders come in to play and automatically give you a 2-5-3?
Or would they just sit on the bench and you would have less than 11 players on the pitch (which is what im guessing)?

Good shout. Wilkinson in frees up cash. Silva big (but expensive improvement) . Good man Fratboy, Rooney will never score. We'll see.

        Now have:

        VDV, Silva, Dyer, Walters, Fox.

Big question mark over wilkinson though, huth and woodgate back for carling cup midweek, place in jeopardy?? Leaves me with a very lightweight defence:

        Kompany, Boyata, Walker, Tierney, Wilkinson

Toughie, I'm choosing between some similar players. If Aguero plays, I'd be surprised if he didn't bang a goal or two against Wolves (and I'm a Wolves fan). Silva could be the safer choice in that regard, he should also have a good game. If I were to pick a Spurs player, I'd go with VDV over Adebayor.

If you feel like risking it, Aguero. If you'd rather play it a bit safer, I'd go VDV or Silva.

Silva could be a risk too with the Villareal game in the middle of the following week.

I don't have Aguero, but if I did, I might be tempted. In the end though I'd probably go for VDV - excellent form, good fixture, and guaranteed to start...

Higgy is definitely a left footer, I remember him in his Saints' days. Doubt he'd play the RB slot?

Sorry to repost i did ask for advice earlier but I have just looked at my team and seen q good transfer, problem is I will have to do it today as due to price rise. Idealy I would wait for news on Suarez but Im going to get him out in 2 weeks anyway. I can deal with DeLaet and Ferguson when I wildcard but does Bosingwa>Shawcross Suarez>Aguero look a good move, no hit?
    Leaves me with this -
    Given Vorn
    Shawcross Kompany Enrique Simpson Delaet
    Nani Petorv Ramsey Silva Ferguson
    Aguero Adebayor Rooney

    Vorm (Krul)
    Kompany BOS WARD NTaylor Simpson
    Nani Silva BARTON Petrov Dyer
    Agbon ROO rvp

for 8 points, I can have
    Vorm (Krul)
    Wilkinson NTaylor Kompany Turner (Simpson)
    VDV Silva Nani (Petrov Dyer)
    Agbon Aguero RVP

Finding it hard to resist!! Worth 8 point hit?

      Enrique and Naylor

      B.Johnson and Petrov.

      No problem 🙂

I want it to be GW12 already, working towards a team of:
    Vorm Ruddy
    Enrique Kompany McAuley Wilkinson Simpson
    Silva Mata Nani VdV Dyer
    RVP Adebayor Sturridge
Seriously urged to just take a 12 point hit to get it haha, patience blows..

I also have Mata like you but have just about had enough of him - he's not justifying his price tag and is being yanked out early by AVB. Bosingwa's time is almost up too.

He had 3 assists in his last 3 before last week.
Last week was a one-off, extremely bizarre game, im giving him a few weeks to prove himself..

taking a 12 point hit is madness. The team above is a good team to work towards but not work a 12 point hit. What is your current team

    Given
    Kompany, Simpson, NTaylor (Brown, Bosingwa)
    VDV(vc), Silva, Ramsey, Cabaye (Dyer)
    Aguero(c), Suarez, Adebayor

Bench: Vorm - Dyer - Brown - Bosingwa

    1 free, 1.2 in bank

    - Should I start Brown or Bosingwa ahead of NTaylor?
    - Should I start Dyer ahead of Cabaye or Ramsey?
    - Should I hold onto my free transfer?

    Thanks!

    Bosingwa, Kompany, Walker, Simpson, Wilkinson
    Nani, VdV, Ramires, Sinclair, Silva
    RvP, Agbonlahor, Graham

    B:
    Vorm, Ruddy
    Bosingwa, Brown, Kompany, Simpson, Wilkinson
    Nani, VdV, Ramsey, Sinclair, Silva
    RvP, Adebayor, Graham

Team A is 1.7 dearer (i think), with Walker pricier than Brown and Ramires pricier than Ramsey. I'd go with C 🙂 Is this a WC move or just normal transfers?

      Vorm, Ruddy
      Bosingwa, Walker*, Kompany, Simpson, Wilkinson
      Nani, VdV, Ramsey*, Sinclair, Silva
      RvP, Adebayor, Graham
