The Captain poll for Gameweek ten is now in full swing with well over a thousand votes already collected. As expected, Tottenham’s Rafael Van der Vaart dominates with a third of the vote so far. The outspoken Dutchman goes into a home clash with QPR having scored a brace at Blackburn, while Neil Warnock’s men arrive having been spanked 6-0 on their last away trip. Van der Vaart’s owners will go into the weekend with all the confidence and swagger of the player himself.

While team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor also surfs the wave of optimism surrounding Tottenham’s chances on Sunday, having collected 8% of the vote, he is separated from Van der Vaart by City’s prime attacking specimens – David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

Gloriously omitted from last night’s team-sheet, confidence in Roberto Mancini’s selection will now be building and there’s an obvious swell of opinion that backs both players to start against Wolves on Saturday. The forthcoming trip to Villareal on Wednesday remains a concern however; those handing Silva and Aguero the armband will surely do so with a strong Vice Captain option in place.

A slew of strikers then follow – Mario Balotelli – another omitted from Manicini’s midweek lineup, earns fifth spot. Luis Suarez’ reputation received a timely boost with a classy double in last night’s win at Stoke and he sits next in our poll. His owners will now be seeking confirmation of a clean bill of health, having seen him wince and limp from the Britannia turf late on.

Wayne Rooney takes the fight to Goodison on Saturday lunchtime for the early midday kick-off. He’ll be given his usual reception, spiced up by the recent red card in Montenegro and Sunday’s demolition at the hands of rivals City. It could go either way for Rooney – we suspect that Saturday’s game won’t be without incident. Alex Ferguson will surely be firing up his men following the Old Trafford drubbing but, at the same time, the United boss will likely have to curb Rooney’s “enthusiasm” against his former club.

Surprisingly perhaps, Robin Van Persie sits in mid-table position in the poll. Despite four goals in his last two league outings, obviously the prospect of facing the Chelsea defence is providing a barrier for his owners. Andre Villa-Boas is unlikely to feel quite so confident about putting the buffers on the prolific Dutchman, however – he’s seen his side concede in eight of their nine games this season and, with Arsenal’s defence equally obliging, goals in Saturday’s clash look likely.

If you’ve yet to cast your vote this week, don’t forget to fire it off via the homepage before Friday night when our final votes will be collected.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ruddy (BLA) or Given (sun) in goals this week?

Swaying towards Ruddy but he's not had a clean sheet yet, Givens not been that much better

I may come across as mad, but I'm considering bringing in Aguero, Bendtner and Torres for Rooney, Sturridge and Suarez. Thoughts? (I know Rooney sometimes doesn't play against Everton)

          Cheers for the replies.

@TEAMZM Why is Bendtner a bad choice? He's scored 2 in his last 2 and he's playing Villa at home this weekend. And that's exactly my dilemma with Torres. He's like Jekyll and Hyde. You just never know what Torres you're going to get on the day. I feel he's over the worst though. He was world class against Genk.

@SHIRTLESS I wouldn't think Aguero will be benched though as Dzeko and Johnson both played midweek in the Carling Cup.

If you are thinking of downgrading Nani you might want to wait till close to the deadline as the lineups will be out before the window shuts. That way, if Nani does not start (unlikely), you will know which option to go for.

Not my preference to hope for clean sheet point. Simpson has low attacking threat, so possible best chance is 6 points.. I think we can hope for random goal/assist from Ramsey or Dyer who play upfront + CS point for MF.

    Done Huth>Shawcross. One transfer left..

Thinking Bos>Wilko, then Bale>Silva. I have 0.4 left so not urgent. Worth 4 point hit?

Concerns... DGW coming up? Rumours it might be during the next Carling Cup window? Silva being benched on Champions League week? Spurs running riot and Bale actually ding something!

Suppose can always put VDV in for DGW when it happnens at Silva's expense...

Was thinking of getting Aguero in for Van Persie but just starting to think now RVP is in great form and the Chelsea defence has not been great this season.

Thoughts on transfer possibility this week? 2 free.

    Team at the moment

    Given (Vorm)
    Kompany, Shawcross, Enrique (NTaylor, Simpson)
    Nani, VDV, Arteta, Petrov (Moses)
    Rooney, Aguero, Graham
    0 in the bank.

Thinking Arteta out for possibly for Milner then might be able to upgrade either Moses or Petrov.

Agree, Arteta has been a real let down for 8m. Although at some point some one has to get their head on one of his free kicks / corners.
I was going to switch him out for Walters, but I decided to chop A Young instead.

Whose your most disappointing/annoying 11 of the season?

Given (villa just mediocre all over the pitch this season)
    Reina (overpriced??)

Bosingwa (good attacking value but they've conceded 1 goal in 7 of their 9 games! - so frustrating)
Ward (25 points in the first three games of the season then 5 in the next six lol)
    Baines (sooooooo expensive)
Hangeland (6 goals and 13 cleanies last season, this season 2.4 ppw)
Cahill (i actually captained him for the first game of the season and got 26 points lol)

    Jarvis (the promise has faded)
Yaya toure (given defensive midfield duties)
Bale (always looks tasty but somehow avoids collecting points)
Wright-Phillips (QPR just havnt clicked yet)
N'Zogbia (lost 0.6m in value and for good reason)

Carroll (averaged 53 minutes per game)
Hernandez (spent less time on the pitch than welbeck this season and Fergusons selection against city says it all)
Torres (nightmare of a fpl player)

De Gea (Hyped up by Manure fans but he is awful, at fault for so many goals this season)

Vidic (Injured for the majority, and when he has played has been on the verge of being sent off constantly)
Evans (Absolute cu*t, fits right in at Manure)
Ferdinand (Way past it, should do a Neville)
Evra (All the positional sense of a blind duck, very bad defender)

Nani (Inconsistent and dives like a b*tch)
      Anderson (Fat and ugly)
Clevereley (Another one hyped up by the 'fans' but fails to produce)
Young (Dives like Nani's b*tch and that is saying something)

Rooney (Can't keep a cool head under even the tiniest amounts of stress, pathetic)
Hernandez (Really good at kicking the ball into a place from 10 yards, all other parts of his game are laughable)

So here is a tricky one, would you rather sell Ward or De Laet? They're obviously both absolute garbage and will have to go at some stage. De Laet doesn't play so in that way he's the one to get rid of first, but Ward is 4.7 and the extra money could be nice. He'll drop sooner or later too I'd guess.

I will buy Wilkinson or another 4m defender regardless.

      I have them both too.

I am getting rid of Ward this week, for Wilkinson. It's part of my plan to get money together to do Saurez> Rooney in a couple of weeks.

I tend to play 3 in defence so not too fussed about getting rid of De Laet until winter wildcard

I would get rid of De Laet first, with all this rotation going on youll need your bench playing.
