Playing three expensive strikers has been a popular strategy for many Fantasy managers this season, but being forced to look at Victor Moses’ name in their squads week after week has forced many to reassess.

The incredible form of Robin Van Persie has made the Dutchman almost undroppable, but Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez are all stuttering in terms of potential going forwards. Playing with two budget strikers opens up the potential for a big midfield of consistent performers, especially when you consider the recent form of budget options such as Demba Ba.

With this in mind we’re focusing on strikers this week and specifically, those who can bring you the greatest value over the coming weeks. Our first two options are particularly interesting as they effectively come as a pair- Blackburn and Bolton’s fixtures rotate very well over the coming weeks meaning you can choose to play one of the two each week and be guaranteed a decent fixture.

Yakubu
Steve Kean has taken a lot of stick in recent weeks, but you can’t argue that Blackburn haven’t been fun to watch. They’ve scored three or more times on five separate occasions this term including four against Newcastle (in the Carling Cup) and Arsenal, and this weekend’s match against Chelsea offers the potential of another high scoring game.

Despite their terrible defensive record, there is still plenty of value available amongst the attacking options. Junior Hoilett is a viable alternative, but Yakubu –owned by a mere 0.5% of Fantasy managers- offers the greatest goal threat and is 0.5 cheaper at just 5.5. With penalty duties apparently falling to the Nigerian after scoring from the spot in the Carling Cup last week, Yakubu presents an excellent differential option over the coming weeks.

David Ngog
The summer signing from Liverpool has started Bolton’s last four league games, ousting even Kevin Davies from the first XI when Owen Coyle has preferred a lone striker system. Ngog has only scored once but has managed more attempts on goal over the last four gameweeks than the likes of Sergio Aguero. In terms of creating goalscoring chances, he’s third-top forward since gameweek seven, behind Bobby Zamora and Luis Suarez – clearly, there’s plenty potential to pick up the points.

As with Blackburn, Bolton have been terrible at the back but show enough promise going forwards to make their attacking options worthy of consideration. Priced at 5.4, Ngog looks secure for gametime right now, whether in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 and with a favourable run of fixtures that includes (STO wba EVE tot ALV), the 0.3% owned Trotters forward may prove to be a handy differential over the next few matches.

Andy Carroll
Writing about Andy Carroll as a differential feels odd. Starting the season at 10.0, his price has plummeted to 9.2 after a slow start to the new campaign and as a result, he now sits at just 2.1% Fantasy ownership.

Playing in the shadow of Luis Suarez hardly helps either but over the last four gameweeks, the £35m man is starting to hint at his possible Fantasy potential. Carroll has scored in each of his last two starts and has picked up the maximum bonus points both times, too, outscoring Suarez from gameweek 7-10 by a single point despite far less game time (191 min versus 350 min).

With Suarez owned by 34.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison, the level to which Carroll has been overlooked is particularly significant. Granted, he’s hardly been Liverpool’s most impressive performer but Carroll recently admitted he’s been building up his fitness in training and the hours of hard work finally seem as though they are paying off.

This weekend’s home game with Swansea offers him a chance to continue his recent good form and although Liverpool than square up to Chelsea and Man City, games against QPR, Wigan and Blackburn hint at a prosperous December.

Just heard on the Sky commentary of the Stoke vs Newcastle game: "Ryan Taylor fires one in with his less favoured right foot." It's pedantic but it really annoyed me for some reason; commentators are supposed to know their stuff!

No, it'll go down 0.2 because the 0.3 rise was already added on to your team value, so you're essentially losing 0.2 when you sell.

I'd lean towards the second one and getting Wilko in as your defender. Aguero's obviously always a great option but RVP's damn near essential right now. Do you have other City coverage?

Ack. Well in that case maybe the first one...should always try not to take hits if at all possible...but RVP...very tricky one, I'd say either is a good option, just go with your gut! Sorry I couldn't be of any particular help, I'm pretty stumped with that myself. One thing worth noting is the fixtures though. RVP's are a lot better than Aguero's, and Wilko's are good too.

RVP all the way; you've gotta play it safe to an extent with captains I think, and generally go with form. So when a top striker has got 7 in his last 3 games, he's your captain.

Spurs can't even keep a CS to QPR at home.
I don't see why you'd take a hit for a defender in the first place, especially that most likely won't keep a clean sheet.

Yeah so you can play Jones, Rangel and McAuley or whoever your other defender is.
4 point hits for defenders almost never work.
The only way to break even is if BAE/Walker gets a cleanie which they probably wont.

Of course an assist is possible, but the fact that they probably wont get a cleanie means an assist is breaking even.

Gervinho is one of Wenger's worst ever signings, up there with Jeffers, awful player. Why would you have Gervinho, who takes up a crucial striker spot, when you could have Walcott, who doesn't and who offers more? He's also cheaper.

No, he's had the odd decent game, but isn't a good player. He's quite fast (as are most black people), but has no skills, particularly playing as a winger; just pace, no end product. Waste of money when you consider Oxlade-Chamberlain is there and just waiting for a chance.

Walcott, who I also dislike for largely the same reasons, is a better FF prospect, IMO.

He was hardly prolific in Ligue 1, so no idea why Wenger thought he could be in the Premier League, he's certainly not worthy of a £10m fee which was paid for him.

Walcott is an inconsistent FPL player, Gervinho is not the greatest FPL propect either but I would say it's a bit harsh to compare him to Jeffers after only 10 games in the league. Reserve your judgement until the end of the season.

Probably isn't worth taking a 4-point hit for (Dzeko/Suarez) - Liverpool's fixtures are difficult after the Swansea gimme. Dzeko isn't someone I'd want to keep either though, so maybe sell Adebayor (since you have van der Vaart) and look to get.. Agüero in?

Saying that, I actually took a hit to bring in Suarez, though I may keep him long-term.

Alternatively; you could look at getting rid of Ba somehow. He isn't going to be doing anything for a while...

Not at all. Wolves' clean sheets are few and far between. Evans, while not guaranteed to start every match, will still acquire more points from the ones he does. And given he's actually cheaper than Ward, it's a worthy punt.

Sounds like you need to play it. Do it once today's games are finished and you will have a few hours before the first rise/falls. Cash in on players that will definitely go up in price 0.2 over the 2 week break and sell those who are dropping in value. Check fiso to help you out and you will be back over 100m in no time

Indeed. You just know he's gonna go and haul double figures this w/e now, to royally confirm himself as the least favourite player in my squad. Planning on saving my wildcard for a while now, so Moses looking likely to hang around in my squad for a while. I may even play him next w/e (Sinclair (MAN), Moses (BLA)). If he can't score at home to BLA then he can't score. Period.
