Playing three expensive strikers has been a popular strategy for many Fantasy managers this season, but being forced to look at Victor Moses’ name in their squads week after week has forced many to reassess.

The incredible form of Robin Van Persie has made the Dutchman almost undroppable, but Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez are all stuttering in terms of potential going forwards. Playing with two budget strikers opens up the potential for a big midfield of consistent performers, especially when you consider the recent form of budget options such as Demba Ba.

With this in mind we’re focusing on strikers this week and specifically, those who can bring you the greatest value over the coming weeks. Our first two options are particularly interesting as they effectively come as a pair- Blackburn and Bolton’s fixtures rotate very well over the coming weeks meaning you can choose to play one of the two each week and be guaranteed a decent fixture.

Yakubu
Steve Kean has taken a lot of stick in recent weeks, but you can’t argue that Blackburn haven’t been fun to watch. They’ve scored three or more times on five separate occasions this term including four against Newcastle (in the Carling Cup) and Arsenal, and this weekend’s match against Chelsea offers the potential of another high scoring game.

Despite their terrible defensive record, there is still plenty of value available amongst the attacking options. Junior Hoilett is a viable alternative, but Yakubu –owned by a mere 0.5% of Fantasy managers- offers the greatest goal threat and is 0.5 cheaper at just 5.5. With penalty duties apparently falling to the Nigerian after scoring from the spot in the Carling Cup last week, Yakubu presents an excellent differential option over the coming weeks.

David Ngog
The summer signing from Liverpool has started Bolton’s last four league games, ousting even Kevin Davies from the first XI when Owen Coyle has preferred a lone striker system. Ngog has only scored once but has managed more attempts on goal over the last four gameweeks than the likes of Sergio Aguero. In terms of creating goalscoring chances, he’s third-top forward since gameweek seven, behind Bobby Zamora and Luis Suarez – clearly, there’s plenty potential to pick up the points.

As with Blackburn, Bolton have been terrible at the back but show enough promise going forwards to make their attacking options worthy of consideration. Priced at 5.4, Ngog looks secure for gametime right now, whether in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 and with a favourable run of fixtures that includes (STO wba EVE tot ALV), the 0.3% owned Trotters forward may prove to be a handy differential over the next few matches.

Andy Carroll
Writing about Andy Carroll as a differential feels odd. Starting the season at 10.0, his price has plummeted to 9.2 after a slow start to the new campaign and as a result, he now sits at just 2.1% Fantasy ownership.

Playing in the shadow of Luis Suarez hardly helps either but over the last four gameweeks, the £35m man is starting to hint at his possible Fantasy potential. Carroll has scored in each of his last two starts and has picked up the maximum bonus points both times, too, outscoring Suarez from gameweek 7-10 by a single point despite far less game time (191 min versus 350 min).

With Suarez owned by 34.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison, the level to which Carroll has been overlooked is particularly significant. Granted, he’s hardly been Liverpool’s most impressive performer but Carroll recently admitted he’s been building up his fitness in training and the hours of hard work finally seem as though they are paying off.

This weekend’s home game with Swansea offers him a chance to continue his recent good form and although Liverpool than square up to Chelsea and Man City, games against QPR, Wigan and Blackburn hint at a prosperous December.

i can understand the inverse mids of VDV and nani for the scout picks..

but WHY is rvp not used in the most forward central striker position? surely suarez will do better on either side with rvp leading the line, ramsey n mata seems kinda light weight as well..

    Vorm
    Bos,Ward,Simpson
    Cabaye,VDV,Silva,Petrov
    Rooney,RVP,Adebayor

    Kenny,Dyer,Wilkinson,Brown

Have one free transfer and 1,3mil in bank. Was thinking Rooney-Aguero or Bos-Evans but not sure if it is worht it. Any opinions are welcome.

Get rid of Ward and Cabaye. J.Evans is a good punt in for Ward, and Ramires would give you Chelsea cover in midfield.

Ward rotates well with Brown and offers some attacking potential so maybe i will keep litle longer. Ramires hmm. Has looked good the few games i have seen this year. Is he fully fit and is his position same as it was earlier this year? I remember he did take guite a few runs to the box and looked lively. Thanks for the reply

if u still got him, i reckon keeping rooney for the time being makes sense, unless fergie insist on keeping him in midfield, he is still the best option for man u.

the bos->evans trade makes more sense, keeping the freebie for the internationals is also a viable option

Keeping Rooney could pay of nicely as many people are transfering him out. If he starts up front and scores people will get him back i think. I think you are right keeping him. The only thing is that my rival is cathing me fast and has Aguero so and i am SCARED! anyway thanks for the reply

Your defence is pretty poor, I'd say get rid of Bos and downgrade to a 5 mil defender. As long as you have Rvp, there's no need to get rid of Rooney, chances are he'll still grab a few points.

Yeah my defense is pretty poor. I went 1 big + 4 cheaper who rotates well but it is not paying of right now. And the one big being Bos does not help at all. Also had some sort of brainfart when i did transfer Kenny in. This week and next i dont have good option with my goalies. Yeah i think i am keeping Rooney now and if i make transfer it is bos out for someone. Thanks

Can't have Dzeko on the basis that he might come off the bench and score. And I think he will be on the bench tomorrow.

Suarez, on the other hand, could conceivably tear the place up.

Suarez is not a bad finisher also.
His game so far this season has been pretty poor finishing wise, but I watched the Dutch league quite often when he played for Ajax and he was just as good a finisher as anyone else in the league. Alot of people say "he would have gotten plenty more chances for Ajax hence the goal count" but he was a good finisher.
Once he gets his shooting boots on he will be immense.

    This whole Aguero/RVP captain lark

anyone think Roy will set up a nice defensive unit and sit back for a draw in this game?

i think qpr are far weaker defensively and always seem to have a go at the game, man c could really nip in and do some damager

+ i hate watching arse dilly dally around a big 4-5-1 formation!

Yeah Aguero is a good choice.
That said, you will regret it more if RVP fires and Aguero fails if you do change it last minute.
I often pick my captain at the beginning of the week and only change on extreme circumstances as im scared changing it will make me regret it

Im probably saying it because last week was shocking for me captain changing wise.
Was on RVP until Saturday as I have captained him every week so far, then I changed to Suarez which wouldnt have been THAT bad, but then I changed it from Suarez > Adebayor just before deadline 😥

Eh? At home they've kept clean sheets against Chelsea and Newcastle this season. Since their end of August re-org they've never conceded more than one at home in the league. Now I admit Man City might well be a different prospect (I'd expect them to get more than one, but that's more to do with their attack than poor QPR defence.

Please can we revert to last year’s bonus point method? Please? The weighting of points to goalscorers has now resulted in everyone wanting the same bloody team! If I see one more mid-field of Mata/Silva/VDV/ and now add last week’s scorer [Walters, Sinclair etc] I’m goin’ to go on the beer. Permanently.
No points for the most creative players, the driving force of a team on any weekend? No points for Man of the Match? Hell, sure if this is the way it’s going to be, let us play 11 strikers and it’ll be down to who scores the most goals.
I mean, really, last week – Scott Parker was worth 3 points alone but what’s the point of getting him in? Suarez should have the most bonus points of the season so far, for God’s sake! And everyone wants to ship out Rooney just because he’s been put in the mid. Help, please!
    Rant just beginning 🙂

Agree with Parker - outstanding last week.
The same has happened with loads of defenders who have played outstanding football and let in one goal, possibly nothing to do with them. (it is called being short-sighted)
I think far too many bonus points are given to the goalscorers there is loads of work and effort leading up to most goals.

I like the way this came in front of your original post. 🙂 It depends on your bench, and how much you lose if you want Silva back, because he plays anyway. Also if Yaya is playing as he did in Europe or goes back to a more defensive role. Unfortunately none of the playing info will be available until it's too late.

    Morning chaps and chapesses,

Not heard much love for Hernandez the past couple of days. There's so many forwards who could rip it up this week it's frightening.

Amongst frantic knee jerking (sold Nani and Ade for RVP and Ramsey - in the cold light of day it seems wrong), I've well and truly pushed the 'point hit' boat out and brought in Hernandez for my United coverage.

Hopefully, i can trust Mr. Bruce to lay his team down ib SAF's hour of need. Surely United will come out firing with the spotlight on Fergie's 25 years at the helm?

I think united will win today and Hernandez is the most likely to score. At 10 million he's expensive for a player that hasn't been starting every game but he'll be on most peoples watchlist, especially if Rooney continues to play deep.
