Playing three expensive strikers has been a popular strategy for many Fantasy managers this season, but being forced to look at Victor Moses’ name in their squads week after week has forced many to reassess.

The incredible form of Robin Van Persie has made the Dutchman almost undroppable, but Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez are all stuttering in terms of potential going forwards. Playing with two budget strikers opens up the potential for a big midfield of consistent performers, especially when you consider the recent form of budget options such as Demba Ba.

With this in mind we’re focusing on strikers this week and specifically, those who can bring you the greatest value over the coming weeks. Our first two options are particularly interesting as they effectively come as a pair- Blackburn and Bolton’s fixtures rotate very well over the coming weeks meaning you can choose to play one of the two each week and be guaranteed a decent fixture.

Yakubu
Steve Kean has taken a lot of stick in recent weeks, but you can’t argue that Blackburn haven’t been fun to watch. They’ve scored three or more times on five separate occasions this term including four against Newcastle (in the Carling Cup) and Arsenal, and this weekend’s match against Chelsea offers the potential of another high scoring game.

Despite their terrible defensive record, there is still plenty of value available amongst the attacking options. Junior Hoilett is a viable alternative, but Yakubu –owned by a mere 0.5% of Fantasy managers- offers the greatest goal threat and is 0.5 cheaper at just 5.5. With penalty duties apparently falling to the Nigerian after scoring from the spot in the Carling Cup last week, Yakubu presents an excellent differential option over the coming weeks.

David Ngog
The summer signing from Liverpool has started Bolton’s last four league games, ousting even Kevin Davies from the first XI when Owen Coyle has preferred a lone striker system. Ngog has only scored once but has managed more attempts on goal over the last four gameweeks than the likes of Sergio Aguero. In terms of creating goalscoring chances, he’s third-top forward since gameweek seven, behind Bobby Zamora and Luis Suarez – clearly, there’s plenty potential to pick up the points.

As with Blackburn, Bolton have been terrible at the back but show enough promise going forwards to make their attacking options worthy of consideration. Priced at 5.4, Ngog looks secure for gametime right now, whether in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 and with a favourable run of fixtures that includes (STO wba EVE tot ALV), the 0.3% owned Trotters forward may prove to be a handy differential over the next few matches.

Andy Carroll
Writing about Andy Carroll as a differential feels odd. Starting the season at 10.0, his price has plummeted to 9.2 after a slow start to the new campaign and as a result, he now sits at just 2.1% Fantasy ownership.

Playing in the shadow of Luis Suarez hardly helps either but over the last four gameweeks, the £35m man is starting to hint at his possible Fantasy potential. Carroll has scored in each of his last two starts and has picked up the maximum bonus points both times, too, outscoring Suarez from gameweek 7-10 by a single point despite far less game time (191 min versus 350 min).

With Suarez owned by 34.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison, the level to which Carroll has been overlooked is particularly significant. Granted, he’s hardly been Liverpool’s most impressive performer but Carroll recently admitted he’s been building up his fitness in training and the hours of hard work finally seem as though they are paying off.

This weekend’s home game with Swansea offers him a chance to continue his recent good form and although Liverpool than square up to Chelsea and Man City, games against QPR, Wigan and Blackburn hint at a prosperous December.

How's this for a WC team?

    De Gea, Al-Habsi
Warnock, Kompany, Simpson, Evans, Taylor (Swa)
    Silva, Walters, Sinclair, Ramsey, VDV
    Ade, RVP, Sturridge

    Instead of

    Given, Mignolet,
    Kompany, Shawx, Taylor, Simpson,
    Silva, Arteta, VDV, Moses, Sinclair
    Ade, Rooney, Sturridge

Not Evans for a WC choice surely? When UTD have their first choice team he will not feature and has not attacking threat what so ever. I know he's cheap but there are better options at that price who will at least play every week..

Villa have tough fixtures consider Brown to rotate with Simpson,
Al-habsi will never play just chuck Ruddy in. Now you've saved 1.0 I'd look at switchging Sinclair to Pilkington (or a punt on Formica) and then either changing Evans to Jones or Ade to Chica.

I wouldn't have 2 swansea players, I think they might be at the start of a bad run. Don't have Warnock, Simpson and Kompany either as Villa, Newcastle and Citeh have tough fixtures coming up too. Basically your whole defense needs to change except your keepers who are fine

I am really tempted to get rid if him for dzecko though as silva is my only attacking man city player..... My team is

I am sticking with Rooney, it's not like he is not playing well, he is, and all it takes is a penalty or a free kick, all of which he still dominates.

It's like this, with fixtures you still want United coverage, as soon as United have options in midfield again, which in reality will be after this gameweek due to the International break, Rooney will be back up top, and if Anderson had not picked up a knock mid-week, there would be little doubt as to where Rooney would play.

Sure, this week, Aguero and Suarez would be better, but after this it's still Rooney if he is playing up top, which Fergie has confirmed is still his number one position. Game over.

You need a fair bit of cash to upgrade any of that midfield to VDV, Sess and Sinclair are in decent form, Moses would be the one to go for me, but you are well short. Maybe Adebayor to anyone on that fantastic article Mark did earlier, Ba etc.

Yeah i think there is a good chance. They have a good manager and a decent team and are bound to get back on track soon. And this should be the perfect fixture for them to get a clean sheet. Wigan dont really have any standout attacking option so there should be a very good chance of a wolves clean sheet imo.

    Enrique Simpson NTaylor
    VDV Mata Silva Dyer
    Rooney (c) Suarez Agbonlahor
    Subs: Vorm Tiote Brown Kompany

Two frees and not sure what to do...I could get in RVP but all 3 of my strikers have great fixtures this week.
    Any suggestions?

I would totally do this if it wasnt for three reasons:

      1. do you really want to not have a striker from the best goalscoring side in the league?

      2. Suarez misses shots, and never scores more than one goal in league games. Hasn't even gotten double digits this year.

      3. Daniel Sturridge

Currently lined up with RVP, Aguero and Sturridge. Would argue that Aguero is a good city option, have had him from the beginning and would be loath to ship him out. He delivers.

RVP is the number one must have. In that case, yes.

Although now that I look at your team, I would downsize suarez to do it.....unless thats who you are ridding for RVP.

I had planned for the past 2 GWs to do Agbonlahor/Mata to RVP/cheapie mid.
But now Mata has a bit of form and a nice fixture.

Rooney-Suarez-RVP is my goal, but I would have to drop either:
Silva, Mata, or VDV to get it

        Who do you suggest?

If you HAVE to have Suarez-RVP-Rooney (and I still think Suarez is a total waste) then I would probably ditch Mata of those. Chelsea is just too hard to know where the points come from ,and fixtures arent exactly awesome.

I still think Suarez is the one to ditch.

No do it as RVP will rise out sight during next two week break and other options are available to replace Mata who could let you down this week ....Kalou or Malouda could start

I 've stuck with him till now to the detriment of my points. I kept believing he would come good and gave him the captain band a couple of times and got a whooping 4pts each time. I know it's not wise especially as I dont have Rvp, but I can't bring myself to sell him. Something, don't ask me what, won't let me.

can think of worse things to do. if you have no other city attacking coverage and a freebie, you might regret not soaking up some city points. then again it would be another transfer to get young david back.
