Playing three expensive strikers has been a popular strategy for many Fantasy managers this season, but being forced to look at Victor Moses’ name in their squads week after week has forced many to reassess.

The incredible form of Robin Van Persie has made the Dutchman almost undroppable, but Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez are all stuttering in terms of potential going forwards. Playing with two budget strikers opens up the potential for a big midfield of consistent performers, especially when you consider the recent form of budget options such as Demba Ba.

With this in mind we’re focusing on strikers this week and specifically, those who can bring you the greatest value over the coming weeks. Our first two options are particularly interesting as they effectively come as a pair- Blackburn and Bolton’s fixtures rotate very well over the coming weeks meaning you can choose to play one of the two each week and be guaranteed a decent fixture.

Yakubu
Steve Kean has taken a lot of stick in recent weeks, but you can’t argue that Blackburn haven’t been fun to watch. They’ve scored three or more times on five separate occasions this term including four against Newcastle (in the Carling Cup) and Arsenal, and this weekend’s match against Chelsea offers the potential of another high scoring game.

Despite their terrible defensive record, there is still plenty of value available amongst the attacking options. Junior Hoilett is a viable alternative, but Yakubu –owned by a mere 0.5% of Fantasy managers- offers the greatest goal threat and is 0.5 cheaper at just 5.5. With penalty duties apparently falling to the Nigerian after scoring from the spot in the Carling Cup last week, Yakubu presents an excellent differential option over the coming weeks.

David Ngog
The summer signing from Liverpool has started Bolton’s last four league games, ousting even Kevin Davies from the first XI when Owen Coyle has preferred a lone striker system. Ngog has only scored once but has managed more attempts on goal over the last four gameweeks than the likes of Sergio Aguero. In terms of creating goalscoring chances, he’s third-top forward since gameweek seven, behind Bobby Zamora and Luis Suarez – clearly, there’s plenty potential to pick up the points.

As with Blackburn, Bolton have been terrible at the back but show enough promise going forwards to make their attacking options worthy of consideration. Priced at 5.4, Ngog looks secure for gametime right now, whether in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 and with a favourable run of fixtures that includes (STO wba EVE tot ALV), the 0.3% owned Trotters forward may prove to be a handy differential over the next few matches.

Andy Carroll
Writing about Andy Carroll as a differential feels odd. Starting the season at 10.0, his price has plummeted to 9.2 after a slow start to the new campaign and as a result, he now sits at just 2.1% Fantasy ownership.

Playing in the shadow of Luis Suarez hardly helps either but over the last four gameweeks, the £35m man is starting to hint at his possible Fantasy potential. Carroll has scored in each of his last two starts and has picked up the maximum bonus points both times, too, outscoring Suarez from gameweek 7-10 by a single point despite far less game time (191 min versus 350 min).

With Suarez owned by 34.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison, the level to which Carroll has been overlooked is particularly significant. Granted, he’s hardly been Liverpool’s most impressive performer but Carroll recently admitted he’s been building up his fitness in training and the hours of hard work finally seem as though they are paying off.

This weekend’s home game with Swansea offers him a chance to continue his recent good form and although Liverpool than square up to Chelsea and Man City, games against QPR, Wigan and Blackburn hint at a prosperous December.

Feel I need to post my team as last week I made the horrible mistake of getting rid of Bale and Van Persie to get in VdV captain. Still managed to go up rankings though!
Have already done Rooney -> Van Persie

    Given
    Shawcross Simpson Enrique
    Brunt Moses Silva VdV
    Suarez(c) RvP Sturridge

    Subs: Vorm Ward BenArfa Brown.

4.1 in the bank. Obviously getting rid of Ben Arfa next week will probably get Ramsey or Cleverly in. Might get rid of Suarez too next week, will set up my team nicely for coming weeks.

Any transfers worth a hit ye reckon? Ben Arfa out now? Or wait?! Cheers!

Don't take a hit, but maybe do Ben Arfa->Pilkington next week to save yourself a bit of cash. IMO, the 6.6 that could be paid for Ramsey is a lot of money for someone who might spend more weeks on your bench than on the pitch

Yeah I probably wont take the hit! I have a load of cash in the bank alright so I can upgrade rather than downgrade! I dont think Ramsey will be on the bench any time soon though? Or have I missed something?

Just had a look and stoke have two tasty home fixtures coming up after Bolton! Ben Arfa -> Walters/Etherington and Suarez -> Rooney/Hernandez could be good transfers next week!

+1 to the rvp/aguero comment above if you feel compelled to make a trade.

I don't think you need to WC though, so you could save the transfer and do some reshuffling over the break, even take a 4pt hit next week if it means getting set up for a few weeks ahead.

    So here are my options:

    1. Rooney out for Aguero
Keep in mind, I have Nani. Don't like this, but I'm scared of Aguero's production and that I will just want Rooney back in two weeks because of fixtures. But is Aguero fixture proof?

    2. My current defense: ShawX, Jose En, Naylor, Tierney, Simpson
Does ShawX need to go? Is Enrique, Tierney, and Simpson with Vorm good enough defense this week? I don't fancy Liverpool to score more than 2. If Shawx goes....for who? Wilko? Ward? Warnock?

    3. Save transfers, get two for the international week (tasty!)

Aguero has averaged 58 mins per game for the season and that includes one game with 0mins. He has not played a full game yet. There are other value for money options but while he has been quiet in last few weeks he can go on a run at any time I think. Not sure about a rooney trade to him right now. Save the xfer I think.

Which is the better goal keeping combination for GW12 and beyond

    De Gea, Ruddy 10.6m

    or

    Krul, Westwood 9m

Help would be much appreciated, cheers

De Gea and Rudy. It's a lot of money for a goalkeeping partnership, but United will keep a lot of cleansheets. Krul has nightmare fixtures, and I think Westwood looks terrible!

Thanks for that, I have been leaning to De Gea all week but sunderland do rotate well with Newcastle. If as you say Westwood is terrible then yea De Gea sounds like a good option

I feel like my team is looking good in the long term. And with Drenthe coming in next week the only way is forward.

    Vorm Ruddy
    P.Jones Enrique Naylor Tierney Simpson
    Nani Silva VDV Pilks Eagles
    RVP Rooney Graham

Keepers-Vorm will play allmst every week and i'm expecting a few cleanies from Vorm at home with Ruddy replacing him for the tricky games.

Defence-Jones and Enrique playing week in week out and Tierney,Simpson and Naylor being rotated deepending on fixtures.Expecting a few Goals/Assists from Enrique and Jones

Midfield-Nani,Silva and VDV providing the goods with goals and assist flying about. Also hoping to find the right mid-priced and Drenthe provides the best potential.

Strikers-Rooney and RVP bringing in the points with Graham grabbig a few points on the way.

    THE ONLY WAY IS UP!!!!!!!

Decided to dump Kompany this week, already have Silva & Aguero and subsequently no Man U coverage. Heart is saying P Jones, head saying Evans. Jones is prob the better long term bet and will provide more threat for assist / goals. But something is saying to me that he may be benched 2mo after playing Utd's last 3 games. Thoughts please!

wouldnt get rid of silva, no matter what. if he misses out injured, all your top rivals will also have him and therefore miss out too. just luck re who comes in from the bench! i would go A.

i am getting rid of kompany for jones this week... i think! see above post to yours.

If you can't afford the straight swap, Nani's your most expensive mid so you're looking at a 4 pointer either way.
