Dugout Discussion

Saturday’s Dugout Discussion schedule looks like bringing us a feast of action today with nigh on all of the big sides facing off against “kind” opposition. First up, we’re served the palette cleansing amuse-bouche of Newcastle vs Everton…

Newcastle line-up as predicted with Sylvain Marveaux given the chance to impress once more, with Gabriel Obertan sidelined. There are two changes for the visitors, as Royston Drenthe and Phil Neville come in for Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and the suspended Marouanne Fellaini. Teams in full are…

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, S.Taylor, Coloccini (c), R.Taylor; Marveaux, Cabaye, Guthrie, Gutierrez; Ba, Best.

Everton XI: Howard; Hibbert, Jagielka, Heitinga, Baines; Coleman, Neville, Rodwell, Drenthe; Osman; Saha.

A fair few high scores are expected today. Liverpool at home to Swansea. United facing Steve Bruce’s Sunderland. Chelsea away at Blackburn. Arsenal hosting West Brom. City closing out the day down at Loftus Road against QPR.

The only other remaining fixture of the day is Aston Villa vs Norwich and that too looks like it could join in the revelry. Cue nil-nils all round to defy expectations. Either way, the Dugout Discussion will be here through every kick of the ball.

Mertesacker , Cabaye and Agbonlahor out. Distin,Formica and Bendtner in for a 4 point hit. definitely worth it right?

drenthe instead of formica? distin has good fixtures until the winter WC time! don't see that as a bad option at all.

I beg to differ, as an owner.

I'd much rather have had him coming up and be up against Martin Olsson - now he's up against Chris Samba. I mean I'm not unhappy, but Samba could crush him with his little toe.

But does it mean he now is competing with Torres/Drogba for starts? Because if he doesn't do well today, that could be the end of his run if Malouda is back in the starting 11.

What did? Evans wasn't in the Differential article.

We reported the Ferdinand comments and mentioned that this could give Evans more security. Hands up - I'm very surprised that Evans doesn't start today - seems odd to change back four when you've kept a clean sheet at Everton.

As for De Gea - didn't see that coming either - why rest him before the break? Seems odd. Always talk of Ferguson protecting De Gea from more physical opponents - clearly today shows he's a risk from now on.

Hats off to anyone who thought Ferdinand would start two games in a week and De Gea would be rested. Can't imagine there's many of you.

Wow, some of us really have been done over today. There was quite a lot of discussion earlier in the week about whether some people who finally be regretting ferguson, I'm sure there are a few. Anyone owning up?

This Ferguson stuff is silly. It's not whether you have him or not, but what you do with him/value gained by having him.

If the extra 0.5 has enabled a better middie/Forward for the past month, then one week of 10 men doesn't hurt, at all.

Lobbing grenades at other people's selections doesn't improve your rank one bit. Just saying.
