Arsene Wenger hails Mikel Arteta’s importance to his new-look Arsenal, Kenny Dalglish talks up fit-again Daniel Agger, while Phil Jagielka admits morale in the Everton camp is far from ideal right now after five defeats in the last six. Here’s some evening Scribbles for you, folks…

Arsene Wenger has lauded the recent performances of Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard starts to settle into life at Arsenal. An assist last week followed by a goal at home to West Brom has been Arteta’s most consistent Fantasy streak since moving to the Emirates in late August and Wenger is full of praise for the way the former Everton player plays a key part in his side’s possession game:

He is an important player for our team. He is really a player between Song and Ramsey or Rosicky and that gives us continuity. When we need to keep the ball he can achieve that – Jack [Wilshere] can do that as well. With Jack missing he is really a player who allows you to keep the ball when it is needed. He is adapting to our game.

Yohan Cabaye is due to undergo tests after being subbed off with a groin problem in the first half of Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday. With Cheik Tiote also currently injured, Alan Pardew’s side are fretting over the Frenchman’s possible absence as they face the possibility of squaring up to (mci, mun, CHE) with their first-choice central midfield pairing currently both doubts. With the international break now upon us, Cabaye has a fortnight to recover but admitted post-match:

I felt slight pain in my left adductor muscle. I don’t know how serious it is, but I will have a scan on Tuesday in Paris.

If there’s a positive for Kenny Dalglish to take from Liverpool’s goalless draw against Swansea, it’s the fact his side recorded a second clean sheet in a row for the first time this season. It may very well be coincidental that Jamie Carragher missed both matches, as Daniel Agger slotted in alongside Martin Skrtel at the heart of the back-four, but Dalglish’s thoughts on the Dane perhaps suggest a more permanent role, providing he keeps free of injury:

Daniel’s a fantastic player and he’s probably as good as anyone else in his position in the Barclays Premier League. He’s comfortable in possession and he’s a very good defender as well. He’s a top defender, a top player. He played left-back for us at Stoke as well and did very well. It’s great to have him back and I hope his fitness remains as it is for a long time.

The FA have today charged Wigan’s Antolin Alcaraz with an alleged spitting incident during Sunday’s game at Wolves. The Paraguayan was involved in an alteration with Richard Stearman and if found guilty, would face a three-match suspension.

Alex McLeish is hoping the international break will allow Stiliyan Petrov time to recover after the midfielder was subbed off in Saturday’s win over Norwich with a hamstring problem. With Bulgaria having no fixtures over the fortnight, Petrov will be handled with care by Villa ahead of the gameweek twelve trip to Spurs, particularly with fit-again Jermain Jenas unavailable for the game due to terms of his loan deal. Big Eck explained:

He felt a little niggle in his hamstring. He thinks he caught it just in time. We’ll get him on the treatment table. He couldn’t go on. He would have become a liability in midfield for us, so we needed to get some freshness on.

McLeish also revealed Emile Heskey is battling an on-going Achilles complaint that is preventing the player from managing the full ninety minutes in any game right now. Heskey was subbed off just after the hour mark at the weekend as Villa look to manage the problem.

Connor Wickham is today having scans on his injured knee after being stretchered off at Old Trafford on Saturday. The youngster lasted no more than a couple of minutes before injury struck, though as yet the club have offered no further prognosis. Steve Bruce will definitely be without Seb Larsson for the gameweek twelve home game against Fulham- the Swede picked up his fifth yellow card of the season and the club have officially confirmed he will miss the match.

Owen Hargreaves is edging closer to a return from injury, according to Man City coach David Platt. The midfielder has played just fourteen minutes of the club’s league campaign this term and is currently recovering from a calf problem.

Everton’s Phil Jagielka has admitted morale inside the camp is low after a run of games that has seen the Toffees pick up just three points from a possible eighteen. Speaking to the Daily Express, the centre-half conceded David Moyes has his work cut out right now:

Morale is not good. I’d be lying if I said we were all high-fiving each other in the changing room. We’re all absolutely gutted, managers and coaches included. I don’t think we would have expected to have got so few points from this run. That’s five out of six we’ve lost. We’ve been in games, at least until 70 or 80 minutes, and in the past we might have nicked a draw or a win. The manager has got a hard job to do now in terms of getting confidence and morale back up.

Martin Jol received some bad and good news on the injury front today. Early reports suggest Zdenek Grygera could be sidelined for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage sustained in yesterday’s home loss to Spurs, while Andy Johnson is expected to recover from an ankle knock for the gameweek twelve trip to Sunderland.

Bale has done well last 2 weeks but far to many 2 pt weeks for me to thinking about him over VDV.
Bale is quite a bit cheaper though and don't think I have room in my squad for 2 spurs midfielders........

If you have enough money, go for VDV as he is on FK's and Pens!

If Short in cash, then Bale.

Bale might actually better VDV's score on many occasssions coz most of the games VDV will be subbed of for Defoe around 60mins.

Got VDV already and also Nani and Silva in midfield.

was thinking of Suarez ->>>> Dzeko and downgrading Sturridge to 5.5m forward which would give me cash to do Barkley (deadwood) ->>>> Bale and play a 3-4-3 but it would meand VDV and Bale both in team. Fixtures for Spurs do look good though and reckon Bale could outscore Sturridge and Dzeko outscore Suarez so making sense to me......

Sturridge is definitely a problem for me.

If I drop him he will almost surely start scoring again. If I keep him he does naff all.

If I get rid its between Klasnic and Bendtner. Taarabt out for Drenthe is the much easier of my 2 freebies to make.

I may leave Sturridge in and do Sess or Eagles for Sinclair with my other freebie.

Was going to take out Saylor but prob just bench him for next 3 gws instead as has good fixtures again afterwards.

Same here Nomar. I have identical front 3 and Sturr (and Mata) is irritating me. One if not both needs to go this gw.

As everyone keeps on saying though, Sturr is good value. He has been playing shockingly though vs bad opposition. Being Substituted in QPR was bad timing for his form I think.

Good ranking BTW. I will kill for it.

    RVP, Agbonlahor, Adebayor

1 FT and 4.6m in the bank.

    B. Drenthe and Rooney
    At the moment my thinking is;
A, then downgrade Lampard > Drenthe for GW14, then get in Rooney for Adebayor GW 15, and then Bendy > Adebayor GW16
I know this is too much planning ahead, but would it be best to go with that plan and try stick with it or do you think Rooney + Drenthe will outscore Bendy and Lampard anyway?

The thing is though, he was pretty toothless before the 'pool game but people have forgotten that because of the midfield thing. I'm personally not going near him until he shows a bit of the form like that from the start of the season. Might miss out on 1 or 2 GW scores but I think it'll be worth it and Aguero and RVP should cover him anyway.

    Hey guys my squad is

Vorm Kenny (been a suprisingly fruitful combination thus far)

S ward Raylor Saylor Turner Wilkinson

Lampard Silva VDV N Dyer Petrov

    Sturridge Aguero RVP

As it stands I have 0.0 in the bank and am deeply unhappy with the money being used on Petrov. I would like to replace him but means breaking into the rest of my team to free funds up.

sessegnon's fixtures look delicious and drenthe is in a purple patch. Would either of these account for a 4point hit? The other alternative is pilkington or doubling up on swansea with joe allen.

Aguero's form is also troubling. Time to sh*t or get off the pot with him

    Any help would be appreciated******

Nah, he's not Rukuwa (he's a guy btw, used to blow his load whenever Christina talked to him).

He tried sneaking back in as ChrisKing, and then Rayne Wooney (there's a legit one of these though).

I don't think Uncle Nigel or I have ever claimed we are ranked higher than we are, or claimed to still have not played our wildcard when we had indeed played it, or claimed to not like taking hits while taking handfuls of 8 pointers etc etc. And a good detective has to go undercover now and again to catch out tossers like you knobhead!

Nigel & Kylie may be the same person (necessary secret agent type thing you know), but JOA / MattyD / ChrisKing / Rayne Wooney are not related in any way. The IQs should bare this out.

I just see the internet as a bit more of a lol than a love sometimes. Plus I didn't really experience too much hassle from Jack and he always gave me advice on my team so hard to be too upset about the whole "ordeal".

Oh, but you never did 'link' your team did you? I searched and found it after you stupidly opened the door a little by trying to take the piss out of someone in your league that had a poor score by posting a link to their team, which gave me your league, and subsequently your team. So to now try and claim you and MattyD is ludicrous - if you were really trying to pass off someone else's team as yours you'd have linked it to your username.

I don't give a shit for seeing you or anyone elses link for that matter, but youd think someone saying what you say would link their team. Although it seems you are all for investigating and wasting your time on me.

I would rather wait till international fixtures are over with so i can make an intelligable decision. However, knee jerk ****s force my hand to make transfers early doors as a result of price changes. So when events like this happen i have a good old chuckle 🙂

I'm not saying that the scouts would have known or not what was about to happen. I'm saying that when they first met and discuss terms between them they probably also shared knowledge on how we, the addicts, play the game... what tricks we use to get ahead etc... I think thats why the price change strategy has changed so much...

I have noticed a pattern tho.

City seem to fail to perform 1st half. Aguero gets subbed 15-25mins into second half n then they get a massive points haul.

Basically agueros window for scoring points is very small 🙁

    Right, defence currently stands as:

    Jones/Brown/Bosingwa/Simpson/DeFailLaet

I’ve noticed that everyone is saying to bring in Brown, but as I’ve had him from the get-go and my main concern is Bosingwa (DeLaet is a completely different story), who should I get in for him?

Everton perhaps? Or go gung ho and double up on Sunderland? I know Stooke have some decent fixtures but the 5-0 has put me off a bit.

Max I can go to is 5.9.

    Thoughts and suggestions always appreciated.

    Thanks.

The double up was purely a think out loud suggestion, but interesting to know that people think it could be a somewhat decent option.

Stoke – yeah, a lot better at home, but their Euopa League antics are certainly having an effect on them.

I could also consider….. *shudders* a Spurs defender – double gameweek on the horizon and decent fixtures?

It may well have been sneaking in at the back post, but given that Schwarzer and another Fulham defender were in line with the shot behind Baird a save could've easily been made, if Baird missed it. Plus is wasn't just a slight deflection, he practically kneed it in.

Only this morning did I realise it was given as a goal, no og. I just assumed it was, thought it was a quite clear og myself, but there we go.

When i watched it it looked like it was heading straight at the middle of the goal and Baird had a good chance to clear the shot, and if you look at Baird's reaction, he realised he should have cleared it. Either way, it was a good power shot from Bale

It looked like it was heading straight the middle for me too; Schwarzer was in line with it but it would've hit him on the right-hand side of his body so tough to save. With the power on it I doubt it would've stayed out, but there was definitely a chance it would have so I was a bit bemused it wasn't given as an own goal.

Indeed. I know Mark has said in the past that FPL have said they can change the price change rules if they feel they have to/want to, but I don't like that. Keep it consistent, then it's fair for all.

Don't know about 'severley'. There seems to be a .3 ceiling on price rises in a gameweek this year. Those who should have gone up last night Dzeko/Eagles should both easily make 0.2 rises and RVP/Bale will go up 0.3 - so it shouldn't affect too much.

I hope you're right but , if these players only rise 0.1 when they should have potentially rised 0.2/0.3 I will be unhappy. Every 0.1 counts. there are also a couple of players who could have dropped 0.1 last night and potentially 0.2 in the break who I want in my WC team. This could be the difference. I am on catch up when it comes to value so every 0.1 counts.

Has anyone else noticed that both FISO and TFPL seem to suggest that the rule whereby targets double for every price rise has been ditched?

i.e., where as a 0.1 rise required say 25,000 NTI, and a 0.2 rise required 50,000 NTI, it now seems to be 25,000 for every rise.

That's a huge difference in the way it opperates!

I think your'e right, that rule seems to have been ditched.
I don;t know for sure but I think one needs 32,000 NTI's to go up.

Yes. I noticed this at the start of the year. I dont agree with it but thats the way its been this year. Dzeko Rooney & Bosingwa benifited from this greatly at the start of the seaon i am sure

You're right, 'knobs. Price rises/falls are a lot more volatile this season - it encourages the bandwaggoning and this, in turn, encourages early transfers. Watching Holland internationals is now a terrifying experience.

Yep, I noticed that too. It means that players tend to go up in value more quickly this season. But as Pasqualinho noted above there also seems to be a 0.3 price rise 'ceiling' in place this year.

And telling them you had done transfers you hadn't, or told them you were going to play your wildcard later in the season when they were advising you to use it, instead of telling them that you'd blown it back in GW3? Blatantly lying to friends (yes, even people you have only 'met' over the internet can be friends) isn't something you can dismiss out of hand as a bit of a giggle.

                  Im just saying.
At least I am just a kid, I have an excuse haha.
You are probably some 35 year old virgin who lives at home with his mum.
I could be wrong though of course, but that is just the impression I get.

One of my friends was an amazing troll on 4chan so I find it quite amusing, probably just a way for me to cling on to my student days.

http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/fulham-tottenham-motd-15659517/ at 2:14 you can see that the ball is far post bound if you look at where the ball starts from and where it gets touched by the defender...
