It’s nights like this we all dread. The words “Rafael Van der Vaart “ and “hamstring” have Fantasy managers on edge, with the breaking news that the on-song Dutchman has limped out of Holland’s friendly against Switzerland with a possible problem.

The Spurs player has been in sensational form of late, with 6 goals and 14 bonus points in his last six league games seeing his Fantasy Premier league (FPL) price rocket since gameweek six, jumping from 9.7 to 10.5 as he helped Spurs take the league by storm. Seven wins and a draw in the last eight games have helped Harry Redknapp’s side up to fifth, level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea with a game in hand.

Sixty-six minutes into tonight’s game at the Amsterdam Arena, though, and Van der Vaart’s notorious hamstring problems reared their head again. At present, there’s no further news other than confirmation of his withdrawal from the goalless draw- nothing concrete on the injury front to report. No need to panic just yet, folks.

Robin Van Persie owners will be pleased to know the Gunners skipper came through the game unscathed but Harry Redknapp-given his recent heart scare- will be off for a lie down.

We’ll bring you more news as we get it.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

People are complaining about Jones being DM, but the best England team I can remember, apart from Euro '96 was Italia '90, which evolved into having Mark Wright play in the same position ...

Is Nani the natural choice to get MU coverage for their great run if VDV is out? His starts like most of MU attack look terrible but if he could return to how they started the season.....
Anything other than MU cover with no Rooney for replacing VDV seems crazy
Worth a four point hit this week? 2 points from Simpson, dyer or Naylor if vDV does not play

I reckon a cheeky bet on England to win today!

Reasons...young team plenty of pace (Barry excluded), playing to get in the euro squad, nothing to lose

Spain may not play strongest team

Most importantly, every pre-tournament England have a great result which brings the hysteria of "England can win the Euro's/Wc etc etc" before failing miserably, Is this the one??

True, but England can score against that defence.....IF they can get the ball!!
Villa is not in great form, but agreed the second midfield 4 is possibly better than the 1st ?!(maybe not)!

i wouldnt coz usually teams take 4 strikers to a major tournament
if caroll/crouch are to go, they would be utility men, that will come in when the team is down. that leaves england with the choice of 2 strikers to start for the first 2 games. not the most secure strategy imo since euro is not the WC where in the 1st round teams play the likes of saudia arabia and north korea

Walcott, A Young can play up front if needed, there are other options as well. To leave Rooney home would be like accepting that they will get no where near finals or semis.

The lad is a goals machine, he's not been impressive for United this season, but he keeps scoring goals every time he's playing for Mexico. He looks even better and faster, not sure if he's restricted roles on the pitch when playing for the club.

I don't think he did, but it was confirmed as his goal though. Yeah, not the most impressive, but he rarely scores impressive goals doesn't he? you feel his goals are just all the same. His movement is always the key. Most important thing for him though is to keep scoring on both levels, country and club. I'd be tempted if I didn't have Rooney.

I know that I may be a bit late and obvious to be stating it....but Mike Ashley is such a tw@t.

How can he change the stadium name...it threatens to take away all the traditions of many glorious nights in that stadium. It cheapens the EPL.

It certainly would not make me consume any of the products/services that they or any other (emirates/DW Stadium/etihad stadium/Sports Direct Arena) try to ram down our throats.....in fact quite the opposite!

The more time passes, the more about football I come to despise. Football like our economy is hooked on greed and money....feeding disloyalty and a passing of tradition.

Ok guys here is my team as it stands

    Vorm/Given

    Simpson, Raylor, BAE, Woodgate, Brown

    Silva, VDV, Allen. Sinclair, Tiote

Aguero, RvP, Chicha with 1.4 in bank

    Looking at the follwing

    Given - De Gea

    Woodgate - Vidic

    Tiote- Drenthe/Eages

    Aguero - Morrison

Depending on VdV also contemplating Bale

Only question is, of the defence, who is best to change for Vermaelen?
