Gameweek 12 draws to close tonight with a game at White Hart Lane between Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. This is the third time in the last five years that this fixture has taken place on a Monday night, and if the tie goes anywhere near matching the excitement levels of the 2007 meeting, then we are in for an instant classic. As a Martin Laursen owner that night, this fixture evokes fond fantasy football memories.

The Dugout Discussion opens for the late shift, and if reminiscing over a defender brace (and three bonus points) isn’t for you, then I hope the following team news is enough to chew over whilst we wait for the 8p.m. kick-off…

Spurs XI: Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, King, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Parker, Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Adebayor.

Villa XI: Given, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Hutton, Petrov, Herd, Heskey, Bent, Agbonlahor.

With yesterday’s encounter at Stamford Bridge focusing on players looking to (and in the end succeeding to) haunt their old employers, tonight once again there’s a whole host of players on that same mission. Brad Friedel, Kyle Walker (was on loan), Alan Hutton and Darren Bent all start and face their respective previous clubs. Jermaine Jenas, on loan at Villa, is ineligible to play tonight.

Elsewhere, fantasy football favourite Rafael van der Vaart passes a fitness test to start up front behind Emmanual Adebayor.

    You have to say adebaor is great value for 8m (anyone who got in early). He's never captain material but for 8m will pretty muchget you a goal or assist every other week onaverage, whichis exactly what youwantfrom someone in that price category. A great "support" ff player if you will 🙂

    75 points this week with only a 3 pointer from VdV. 3 of my four defenders and my keeper had clean sheets, and all 3 of my strikers scored, only a poor midfield showing from VdV (points wise anyway) and the resting of Silva let me down, otherwise could have been up towards to 90 mark.

    Just got back from the game. Spurs were embarrassingly dominant - don't know what Villa were playing at really. Cards on the table though, this is the best Spurs team I've ever seen. The balance to the side is so good. Friedel, Parker and Ade have added the strength in the right areas. Parker and Modric are brilliant together, Bale and Lennon are coming into form, VDV is class, Ade's working hard and the full backs are always available in attacks. As for King, well he's just a class act.

    FPL-wise, it's all about Bale for me. He's looking very good for assists and goals. Getting into central positions up top, as well as on the wings. It would be a brave move, but VDV to Bale is tempting - certainly thinking of getting Bale somehow.

    Oh, and Ade should've had a hat-trick, the bugger.

      Really impressed with Spurs at the moment. If they can keep this team fit I think top 4 is definitely on the cards.

      Bale and Lennon do a good job of tracking back when the opposition have the ball and help out their full backs, which is helpful considering how much Walker likes to get forward.

      Parker seems to be the butt of most "player of the year" etc etc jokes but he does put in one hell of a shift protecting the back four and making crucial tackles.

      Adebayor was impressive tonight and not just the goals, he did a lot of work up top, and his partnership with VDV is looking good not to mention Bale looks in good form at the moment.

      Kaboul was solid tonight too. As a whole a really nice defensive unit and really good going forward.

      Oh - and Modric isn't a bad player either.

    Bale and VdV, it's pretty much swings and roundabouts, VdV could easily have bagged a goal tonight, he had 2 or 3 chances, he's on pens, fks and corners. I have faith. If Silva gets injured long-term then I may consider the Bale option.

    So frustrating. Rival who knows sweet FA about FA has streaked ahead of me in recent weeks. Has had Aguero (C) since GW1, Bale / Richards have seen him blast past me in recent weeks.

    I scored a 59 this week (unlikey any bonuses for VDV / BAE although I missed the game so never know!) which seems to be pretty average.

    Really hoping the Bendybus gets into gear next week!

      Come on the Bendy Bus! I desperately need him to fill his boots this coming week, otherwise Sturridge -> him before this GW will look rather silly. At present I'm still fairly happy with it though; Chelsea looked naff, Studge didn't start and Bendy picked up a bap without scoring so the system must like him a bit, it was just one of those things that Studge happened to score.

      Could still look a masterstroke next week...or it could look ridiculous.

      i think you've overdone it with the spurs coverage in all honesty. no MU attacking cover could harm you. i'd get rid of Ryan Taylor, poss for Wes Brown.

    First off what the hell happened Villa they used to havr THE solid defence couple years ago Dunne Collins Given legends for them. Now they are like Derby.

    This in effect meant I lost one point on the two transfers.
    Person in my head to head also scored 71 but took no hits.
    The whole thing hinged on BAE...who I had and he didn't, as below.

      looks a decent shout to me. rodwell isnt going to score high regularly, walters could espec over the next few weeks. is on pens and is playing up front while classed a a MF.

      bale & VDV... not much to go on there. VDV will score more over the season but no doubt Bale is in the better form. its one of these ones where if u do the change VDV will pull out a double vs WBA next week. VDV also hogs set pieces so be wary!! as alternatives to rodwell you could have eagles?

          what you want to do is wait until he gets done with this charge. if its guilty, ship him straight away for hernandez (if you dont have MU strikers) or Dzeko / Balotelli.

    I'm toying with Rooney -> Adebayor. I was looking for someone to swap Rooney out for, and given Spurs fixtures, an eventual dgw, and the fact I really should get rid of Rooney, I feel Ade might be a good shout? My only concern had been his form, and it's obviously back now.

      Before today's game people were say Hernandez in Adebayor out. Makes me smile, people were saying Adebayor was playing badly but he was chipping away with assists.
      If you really want Adebayor go for it more secure then the likes of hernandez, then you can double up on the man united defence.

            lol so sarcasm then. I really doubt I'll do it, like I said, unless Silva goes down, Bale does this, he hits a major patch of form for 3 or 4 weeks, then does nothing for about 10, then does another 3 or 4. VdV has about 10 good weeks then 3 bad, then 10 good again.
