The draw for the first round of the Paddy Power Cup has been made and qualifiers can click on this link to find out exactly who they’ll be pitting their wits against. Let’s see if graqfreak can take the scalp of none other than Scout overlord Mark this coming Gameweek.

The deadline for transfers for Round 1 is, of course, this Saturday at 11.30, with the announcement of the results to follow a day or two after the end of the Gameweek.

Here’s a reminder of what’s on offer…

The Prizes

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

If you’re going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

The qualifying round is usually gw18 I think. 1st round proper gw19. Sounds about right.

No harm in saving the transfer and doing it next week for free - when you know for a fact if there's any injury concerns or not.

Do Everton really have gret fixtures?

I dont see it , they a poor side , no game is going to be easy for them , they have so far shown very little , poor upfront , and not keeping clean sheets.
Even their double gameweek looks tough , with likely poor returns

without seeing your subs, it looks like a strong side for the GW.

would be worried primarily about kompany at anfield, vorm facing a villa side looking to show some teeth after a terrible outing last week, and the possibility of silva being rested in preparation for a must-win match against bayern after the weekend.

i'd say your score will be (before BPs):

      3
      2 2 6
      1 7 7 5
      12 5 9

      = 59

    Good morning gents,
Please take a look at my team/bench. Do I have it right and do I need changes? Just inside the top 10 in my league and could do with a good week.

    Ruddy
    Baines, Ekotto, Caulker
    Silva, Drenthe, Ramsey, Allen
    RvP, Rooney, Suarez

    Krul, Moses, Enrique, Tierney

Already used my FT and 0.3 in the bank.

    Thanks in advance!

Tricky. Everton were tighter at the back last week and only conceded the goal through a penalty that shouldn't have been given. There won't be much in it but I'd plump for Howard.

Seems like a short-fix to me. Not sure about either Chelsea or Studge at the moment. After Wolves their fixtures go downhill too.

Without knowing the rest of your team it's hard to advise on alternatives too. Ade if you don't have him already would be my preference

Would you play Scott Sinclair or Joe Allen this week? Both are home to Villa.

I'm leaning towards starting Sinclair and benching Allen. Not least because this will be Sinclair's last game for me before I sell him for O'Hara or similar next week.

Have I made the correct choice?

He's started 10 out of 12 games. As a Utd fan and keen follower of Fergies selections I see no reason why this trend won't continue. We may even see him further up the field in MF in the coming GWs.

Depends how much you'd like to spend ... could be worth getting someone like Brown if you're trying to save some pennies - his fixtures toughen after 3 weeks though.

      Shawcross - despite Stoke form

Jagielka - good fixtures, double GW on the horizon (Baines if you have the £?)

Would suggest Ekotto if you didn't already have Walker.

    Vorm
    Kompany,Brown,,Ward,
    Silva,Dyer,VDV,Drenthe
    RVP,Sturridge,Suarez

    Ruddy,Moses,Simpson,Gabbidon

Want Suarez out and Ward is at Chelsea (A), Gabbidon injured, Simpson at Man U (A).....

Strikers SO amny options...thinking Jones for Ward? Have 4.4 in bank so budget quite high....

No probably not. Having said that though I got Adebayor & Brown for a hit last week and it paid off!

Rooney - sort of win/win with us going to OT ... I genuinely believe we might nick something from Old Trafford though - think it's a good time to be playing them.

Wouldn't worry too much about having VDV and Adebayor - home to Bolton next week looks very tasty and a juicy double GW on the horizon too.

26 GWs to go, there's plenty of time to turn it round - especially when the doubles start coming thick & fast.

      Ward>Jones Suarez>Ade?

Should give you a decent enough starting XI for this week.

Long-term I'd wanting the holy one out along with Dyer & Studge (bar an upturn in form and consistency)

Holy one? Sturridge at some point yes, but happy with him for now...other more pressing options.....Ward/Moses/ just need a bit of a sort! This season already over...so bad starting..its damage limitation! haha

Hes started scoring, that too the only goals. Berba might get time, but from the bench.

Hernandez will start, and probably score as well.

        Fair point

    Need advice, who to start:-

    2 out of 3 - Drenthe(bol) Allen(AVL) Ramsey(FUL)

Tough, I'd definitely go with Wilkinson. If you can't choose your cheap defender against a bottom 3 side, when can you choose him?

Then I think I'd personally bench Allen. If in doubt, go for the player; Allen isn't fully fit and it's possibly that that match ends 0-0 or low scoring.

Appreciate the advice:). Presently was leaning towards benching Enrique.

Midfield though, thought Id play Allen and Ramsey over Drenthe. But definately buy the go for the player argument.

Only issue is, Allen will def start. And its interesting that he has scored/assisted in all home games hes started. Its basically consistency vs a probable 2 pointer/10 pointer with drenthe.

Bit of a strange one but i'm looking to do given to westwood and kompany to the verminator for a 4 pt hit. I know I'm unlikely to recoup the 4 pts this week but I see them as good long term transfers. Does anyone think this is a good idea?

It helps to know your team to comment. If you're really stuck to put out a decent DF+GK then maybe it's worth the hit but if you can make 1 transfer and then put out a strong team then it's not worth it.
