The draw for the first round of the Paddy Power Cup has been made and qualifiers can click on this link to find out exactly who they’ll be pitting their wits against. Let’s see if graqfreak can take the scalp of none other than Scout overlord Mark this coming Gameweek.

The deadline for transfers for Round 1 is, of course, this Saturday at 11.30, with the announcement of the results to follow a day or two after the end of the Gameweek.

Here’s a reminder of what’s on offer…

The Prizes

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

If you’re going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

about to become a serial reposter here 😆

ok I have 2 options this week. which is best?

    a) Sess and Graham (taking Allen out)

    b) Sess and Helgs/Morison (taking Tiote out)

Either striker will be for Aguero, may seem odd but I need serious cash to address a couple of weak points in my team, going down that low frees up much money, just a question of which outcome offers best points return?

If I get Ba in in 2 weeks Tiote has to stay unless there is a better option for 4.5 million, which begs the question to Ba or not to Ba?

    Team is linked btw.

I did see it, and Swans fixtures are ok, aside from GW19, when I may just bench Grahm, it may serve me well until WC comes into play when I can re-think my team without a hit

not looking at Ba for next week as I planned on Verminator v Wigan, I'd have to get Ba this week, which makes no sense as why bring a player in to bench him, I have 0 funds, so other option is no transfer this week giving me 2 next week, but then I'd be tempted to leave Aguero in vs Norwich

ok have made the decision. Nothing this week, then 2 next week, as I have a feeling Aguero may not start v Norwich, problem is his lack of scoring possibility for this week.

Just noticed that my fall back team (i.e. the one I set up on Sunday in case I forget/die) has both of them on the bench.
Playing NTaylor (AVL), Jones (NEW) and Woodgate (BLA).

Richards is first sub as it stands though.

It's such a tough one because I know aguero has goals in him, regardless of the opposition and my main rivals have aguero. I just feel that if the hernandez gamble pays off, it will do so in big ways.

really? he isn't one to get double figures I feel, whereas Aguero is and is overdue for a big points haul. City do average nearly 3 goals a game too

I know I've considered all of this and I reckon I'll make the decision tomorrow. Right now I guess I'm 60% hernandez and 40 aguero. If it turns out drastically wrong I'll have the extra money to put aguero back in whenever I need.

I think Rvp will come off the bench on saturday and grab one goal which coincidently be Arsenals only goals as there nothing without him. He has to play vs Man City in the carling up and I'm sure that he'll start against City as thats the only tournament Arsenal have a chance on winning even that is too dramatic.

Grats to all who qualified, goes to show the standard on here that you needed to be 17-18 points above average to get through.
Funny thing though I was gonna captain VdV this week but once I seen he had RVP I changed back to him.
Surely the idea is to score the most points so why did seeing his team change my mind as to RvPs chances ?

The pea is nailed on for the short term with injuries a problem, they also have great fixtures compared to City. However, I beleive City will score more goals than United in the short term despite the fixtures. United are focused on defense and the pea will get the odd goal. I just have a feeling that Aguero has a big performance in him or two over the next 4 or 5 game weeks, whereas I don't think the pea does big performances

    Current team for this week:

    Vorm
    Enrique Shawcross Walker
    Sinclair Ramsey Silva VDV
    RVP Sturridge Bendtner

subs - Howard, Kompany, Moses, Simpson

Was considering bringing in Turner for Kompany and then using the money to do Sturridge > Aguero in GW14 (I got 3.1m in the bank). What ya reckon? Team strong enough to wait a week for investment or should i improve it this week?

Could Aguero be rested for NOR? Important Bayern game is the following mid week.

The Carling Cup team from the previous week is the massive factor here. If he's used extensively in that match, then you would of course bank good money on him not playing against Norwich.

Strange one him not being used that much in Champions League matches over the last month or so. I would guess it's just a random thing that looks like a pattern to the untrained eye though.

Looks tidy enough for this week.

Also considered plans to get in Aguero for next week v Norwich but don't you think he could be benched and primed for the Bayern Munich game? Particularly when you consider Mancini got his team selection wrong by not picking his best team v Napoli.

Worth doing Kompany > Turner anyway? My defence is a little on the expensive side IMO so may be worth it long term, look to spread the money around the squad a bit better

Yep, he could well be rested but hopefully we will have some idea of who will start before the Norwich game. If not then i guess i could go with Adebayor or maybe even get Suarez back (if he hasn't been banned by then!)

I'm no doctor...Rooney took a knock on the hip, surely he could play with an injection? It's not muscular after all. The only report on his "very doubtful" status came from an unnamed Mirror source !!

Unless Fergie rules him out in the press conference I'm sticking...only got him in on last weeks WC so I really want to have 2 FTs for the following GW.

If the prognosis appears bad after the press conference I would swap for Aguero. He will deliver similar returns and plays up front instead of midfield at the moment. It also keeps the balance of your team from the WC

Rooney didn't play in midfield last game; he was making runs into (or on the edge of) the box every attack. Don't give advice that builds in false, outdated information.

Sure he did play up front(technically) and he may do so again but it depends if you consider a player who plays behind the front man a striker or midfielder. And whether it was a one off change and whether SAF puts him back again. How can you know for sure where he will play

Do people think this could be one of those weekends with a lot of rotation happening. There are some big match ups in the CC and more than a few players have played a lot lately with CL as well as PL. Also there is the next round of CL a week after the CC games which will get priority for the likes of CIty, United and Chelsea. What are people's thoughts? are we half expecting another crazy rotation game week? Do you have faith in your bench to fill the void and are we worried about the dreaded 15 minute cameo?

Got a small issue going into this week. My defenders currently are:

    Kompany, Shawcross, Richards, Simpson, Enrique.

I am playing Shawcross and Richards 100% and benching Simpson. So, if you may, who to play out of Kompany and Enrique? I like City's chances of a clean sheet given that Swansea held Pool scoreless at home a few weeks ago. Madness to play Kompany and Richards? Or just play the "safe" option and throw in Enrique as the home team player with attacking threat?

One thing to consider on the Enrique vs Richards dilemma. They also need to defend each other, and Enrique is a way better defender than Richards.

good point, I think the attacking exploits of both paints a picture that I should play both and bench Kompany. The only thing is the nagging feeling that City may keep a CS.

haa yes, seeing as Swans did it :D, but Liverpool always seem to get it together for the big games. And if the field a similar team like last week, with high energy, fast and hard working guys they could do well. They are also rested and city fatigued from CL.

been really reading up on this today. if fit i think he could come straight back in, problem is there's some mystery surrounding him still as he didn't make the bench last week, didn't play in the reserves on monday, yet was reported back in full training as much as two weeks ago.
based on the little information as of now a bench place is my guess

        Walters, Sinclair, Silva, Mata (Moses)
        RvP, Aguero, Klasnic
