Wayne Rooney is set to be fit for tomorrow’s game with Newcastle. Chris Samba looks unlikely to play for Blackburn at Stoke, while Villa will check on Stiliyan Petrov’s sore hamstring later today. It’s a quick Scribbles this morning, ahead of a busy Friday..

Sir Alex Ferguson gave Wayne Rooney’s Fantasy owners something to smile about earlier today. The Man United boss confirmed in his regular Friday morning press conference that he feels Rooney will be fit for tomorrow’s Old Trafford clash against Alan Pardew’s Newcastle. Rooney seems to have shaken off the hip problem he suffered at Swansea last weekend and having missed the midweek Champions League game with Benfica, is looking in good shape to feature.

Fergie announced that while he expects Anderson to be ruled out until February with an ongoing knee problem, he is delighted with the defensive cover now coming back ahead of tomorrow’s game:

Smalling’s fitness is a boost and Rafael is also back, so the defensive part of the team is OK.

Peter Grant is confident that Gabby Agbonlahor and Chris Herd will be available for Aston Villa’s game at Swansea on Sunday. The assistant manager gave an injury update earlier and confirmed Agbonlahor has had no reaction to his return from a hamstring problem, while Herd is looking likely to recover from a leg injury that forced him off at the end of Monday’s game at Spurs. Stiliyan Petrov, however, had a sore hamstring after the Spurs match and will be monitored after today’s training.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean revealed both Chris Samba and Martin Olsson are unlikely to make tomorrow’s game with Stoke. Kean is hopeful Michel Salgado can shake off a hamstring niggle that has bothered the right-back for a number of weeks now, while Ryan Nelsen will return to training with the first-team squad on Monday.

Arsene Wenger gave an update on injured full-backs Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs yesterday. The Gunners boss confirmed Jenkinson is out for three weeks and Gibbs another four, meaning Andre Santos will continue at left-back for the foreseeable future. Laurent Koscielny filled in at right-back last week and could continue there in Jenkinson’s absence, with Per Mertesacker and Thomas Vermaelen in the centre of defence.

Reports today suggest QPR are looking for a buyer for Adel Taarabt after finally losing patience with the Moroccan. Taarabt has been a bitter disappointment in the Premier League this season, with no goals or assists and the side looked a lot more compact without him at Stoke last weekend- the only problem with any possible deal is that his former club Spurs are entitled to 40% of the transfer fee.

The Mirror report James McCarthy is a doubt for Wigan’s trip to Sunderland with a groin problem. Hugo Rodallega could return to the Latics starting lineup tomorrow- the forward missed last week’s home clash against Blackburn due to a virus but has now recovered.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Considering options on transfers and looking at midfield and defensive changes.

Have Ramsey, Walters, Silva, VDV and Sinclair in MID, RVP, Ba and Dzeko upfront.

    Considering
    Ramsey - Sessegnon/Larsson ?
    Dzeko - Adebayor ?

However, how likely are VDV and Dzeko to play ?

    Team for this week:

    Vorm
    Enrique Shawcross Walker
    VDV Silva Ramsey Sinclair
    Sturridge Bendtner RVP

subs - Howard, Kompany, Moses, Simpson (and i got £3.1m in the bank).

Any changes needed? I was thinking of cheapening my defence a bit, who would you sell first out of my defenders? I was actually thinking of flogging Shawcross, perhaps from Turner/Brown. Thoughts?

In regards to the defence, there is no point wasting a transfer on it when you can field a solid back 3, unless you need the funds as part of a long term plan...

    Hey guys

    Worth it to do:

Woodgate -> Turner for a 4 point hit this week?

Not sure if woodgate will even start, and their defence is up to shite now anyway.

    Current team:

    Vorm/Krul
    Woodgate/Jones/Kompany/Simpson/Enrique
    Ramsey/Silva/Nani/Moses/VDV
    RVP/Adebayor/Graham

Almost certain to do Ramsey -> Larsson as my last free transfer, hence the above will be for 4 points.

    Thoughts?

Not one for the coming weeks, but anyone see Bannan reclaiming his place in the Villa team over Christmas? 5.0 isn’t bad for a set piece taker for a team in the top half of the table, especially as Villa aren’t as defensively minded as I thought they’d be when they brought in McLeish…

    ------------

    Given / Vorm
    Evans J / Brown / Kompany / Enrique / Simpson
Petrov / Moses / Sinclair / Sessegnon / Van der Vaart
Rooney / Van Persie / Suarez

There is at least 5 or 6 players in there that i would like to get rid of.

    ------------
    W.C Team
    ------------

    Vorm / Westwood
Richards / Jose Enrique / Brown / Simpson / Taylor (SWA)
    Silva / Bale / Larsson / Sinclair / Johnson

Isn't Nasri due to play thus week? I am not sure if Silva will start, also anfield is a tough place for Man city, they have a terrible record there.

    Hi all,

I've referring to this forum for a few weeks now and thought i should start posting.

Not really sure what i should do with my team i would prefer better Man U defensive cover? And is anyone keeping faith in Rooney, i have but don't know if i can hold on any longer?

    Begovic (Henessey)
Jagielka Enrique R Taylor Evans Walker
    Silva Nani Walters Drenthe Dyer
    Rooney Adebayor Agbonlahor

Got 0.3 in the bank and can make upto 2 transfers this game week.

    Any suggestions?

You need RVP! Maybe late but you need him in. You have Nani so do Rooney > RVP and Begovic > Vorm? Do you have enough cash for that. If not Vorm then Westwood?

Brown is a good shout. I would rather hold onto Jagielka as he had a great week last week. I have been swaying with RVP for a couple of weeks now......i bet i change it tonight and then Rooney scores a hat trick tomorrow and RVP doesnt score.

Hmmm, tough one. Probably Johnson as I think there'll be more goals in that game.

Before you get Bale, who is having an amazing few weeks, consider the long term and who takes the free kicks, set pieces, corners and penalties.....

Before you get Bale, who plays 90mins, doesn't have a dodgy hammy, isn't likely to pull a paddy.......

    Rate my team

    Vorm
    Taylor-Jones-Kompany
    Drenthe-Mata-Silva-Walters-Sinclair
    RVP-Ade

    Subs: Suarez-Wilkinson-Mcauley

I'm tempted to do Mata for walcott/bale

Depends what 9 teams you've got, see nothing wrong with it myself.

My starting 11 this week only comes from 6 teams: 2x Swansea, 2xStoke, 2x Sunderland, 2x Arsenal, 2x Spurs & 1x Man Utd.

He does get game time but is consistent just like the holy one. He's gone next week unless I have other problems to deal with, injuries etc... Gutierrez at least has the potential to score points even if they are playing man u

      Very annoying.

Just adds to the frustration of being a previous Adebayor owner and shipping him before he scored 2 goals on Monday night, meanwhile VDV fired a blank.

Should I use a free to change VDV and to who?

What you thinking of doing Tosey? You think VDV > Lamps is worth it. Or too short term. Chelsea struggling a bit and fixtures get tougher.
