Granville may have left for sunny shores, but while he’s sipping on his cocktails, pondering how to juggle his Man City strikers to ensure they miss out on points, I’ve laboured on without him.

I say laboured, what we have this week is possibly the first “grown up” podcast we’ve ever produced, as I chew the fat with an actual football expert, rather than my regular Mancunian pretender.

Renowned football writer, Jonathan Wilson, joined me for a chat, just a week after his latest work – the Brian Clough biography – “Nobody Ever Says Thank You” hit the shelves.

We inevitably talk Clough, discuss the theories behind the Premier League’s goal explosion, the plight of Wilson’s own beloved Sunderland and, of course, pick apart Jonathan’s own Fantasy Football team.

Wilson’s own labour of love – The Blizzard. – is also on the agenda. The quarterly magazine captures some of the best football writing around, delivering in-depth and leftfield articles, ignored by the mainstream football media.

Issue Three is due for release on December 1 in electronic form or print, with back issues available on a “pay what you want” model. You can find full details on the Blizzard’s site right here.

Get yourself a copy after listening in on the chat via this link.

Alternatively, our convenient little player below delivers your goods right into your browsers…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

VDV owners, putting him in hoping that he plays or benching him?

Put him on the bench. When he plays and scores two it will be interesting to see how loud you scream as each one hits the onion bag.

    Would really appreciate some feedback.

    Vorm (Krul)
    Jones Woodgate Brown (Enrique, McAuley)
    VDV, Ramsey, Brunt, Silva (Dyer)
    RVP(c), Rooney, Adebayor

Nothing in the bank. Anyone seeing some obvious transfers? Brunt and Ramsey have not delivered what I hoped when i got them, but guess it's no rush getting rid with the fixtures they are having? Gettig rid of Woodgate maybe? Will he play this weekend? Or save transfer?

    Thanks

Someone said earlier that Woodgate is likely to play this weekend, I think it was Frazek... I think Chelsea will get the most goals this weekend but at the same time I wouldn't transfer anyone out of your team.

Kompany Bosingwa Jones (Enrique, D Simpson)

    Drenthe Brunt Walters Silva (VDV)

    Sturridge Bendtner Adebayor

Have 1 Ft and 5.4 in the bank.

I dont know if a lot of people here would agree with I have to say but for the current season atleast u want to maybe go for cheap defenders and beef up your attacking options. Cleansheets are becoming far and inbetween. The only teams I see keeping cleansheets is ManU. Your midfield looks weaksauce 🙁

since you have to play 3 defenders a week it may be a good time to go baines richards jones and get points in defense while everyone else gettin 2's.. there are no real standout premium attackin options apart from Silva Rvp Ade anyway

good point with the attacking options.. but I meant more along the lines of the cheaper defenders like newcastle and swansea are just about as likely to get clean sheets as the expensive ones at the moment

You need to get rid of:
      Given
      Evans
      Bosingwa
      Fergie
      Watson

I would love nothing more than to go on a lad's night out with Jonathan Wilson. Imagine the antics!

Hmm Vdv doubt is making me think of Dyer to Allen for solid back up. Would be happy going into this Gw with Drenthe Silva Walters and Allen
