[sbu_large_image] Injuries

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Javier Hernandez is expected to be sidelined for the next four weeks with an ankle injury.

The Mexican was subbed off early in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa this evening and was stretchered from the proceedings after a lengthy delay. His goals have been crucial to the champions of late, with Hernandez scoring 3 of United’s 4 goals prior to the Villa match.

Post-match, the United boss rued the loss of his in-form striker and mulled over options for what will be a busy Christmas period:

I think it is torn ligaments in the ankle and he’ll be out for four weeks. We are having a bad time with injuries at the moment but that is why we have a strong squad. Danny Welbeck is fit again and fortunately he got 15 minutes tonight which is good. He has not had a lot of football recently which is something I have to consider. But Nani did alright through the middle and Valencia did very well for us when he came on, he was excellent. So I have some options up front. We may have Berbatov fit for Wednesday also, but we are getting our fair share of injuries at the moment.

The mention of Nani as a possibility in the central role is particularly intriguing. With Wayne Rooney’s run of goalless games now stretching to eight league fixtures on the back of tonight’s game, United are relying on their defence to ensure victories right now.

They have now ground out four 1-0 wins in the last five games since the return of Nemanja Vidic and have scored more than one goal just once in their last nine games but with a run of fixtures that includes (WOL, qpr, ful, WIG, BLA) look ripe for investment.

Welbeck, at 6.6, would be the most obvious bargain but with Fergie urging caution over his game time, the Fantasy options are low on the ground right now up front, with defence perhaps looking the most viable source of points.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    About to do:
    Ramsey —-> Mata
    Hernandez —> Ba
    De Laet —> Vermaelen
    8 point hit

Have to do it tonight as Mata is set to rise and I have no spare cash….

    Any objections??

Looks fantastic. All three will rise this week so do it which you still can. You'll get the 8 points back in no time. If money was no object I'd say do it gradually but you need to do it now so do it now.

I'm in a bit of an "on tilt" after a few self-inflicted poor moves, so I'm asking an obvious one here really, but still...

Is buying Gareth Bale now a case of too late to the party or a wise move all round?

i thought i'd bought vdv too late and i was right (as soon swapped him to bale)

i thought i'd bought rvp too late and i was wrong (as got loads more goals)

who knows how things will pan out from now on, but i wouldn't like to have a bale shaped hole in my midfield while i'm finding out

A number of reasons, Drogba apart from his goal didn't impact the game, Sturride is not a natural finisher. Torres with renewed confidence is and would play of Mata perfectly. It is destructive to him to leave him on the bench. Give him a reasonable number of starts an tell him to go out and enjoy. It only takes on game to transform him.

Was at the Newcastle game this morning, expected some decent noise from the Geordies, but was very unimpressed with them.

It's so quiet, it's so quiet, it's so quiet, Sports Direct.

            😆 😆

Nice one. FFS representing today. Anyone else make it to a game? I was unfortunately working for The Yak's heroics

The stadium really is a library most of the time, quite surreal. Doesn't bother me, as I was there to watch the football (and eat), but if most of the stadium can be arsed to get up and bounce about with their backs to goal...

Well they should cheer on their team more instead. But that was left to one tiny corner next to the away fans. When they could be bothered.

Nice. Though what is Mancini on about with "It's the only way he could have scored"

"It's the only way HE (i.e. Balotelii) could have scored" - maybe?
