Rafael Van der Vaart declares himself 100% fit for Spurs’ game at Stoke this weekend. Injury rules Dimitar Berbatov out of Man United’s Champions League trip to Basel, while Luis Suarez is the subject of another FA investigation:

Rafael Van der Vaart gave his Fantasy managers a boost today, with a positive update on his ongoing hamstring strain. The Dutchman started on the bench for only the second time in his Spurs career at the weekend, but admits that while he fully understood his manager’s decision, he is determined to win back his starting place for Sunday’s trip to Stoke. With Gareth Bale in such stunning form and Jermain Defoe offering a viable alternative for Redknapp up front, plenty are selling on Van der Vaart, though this news may throw potential Fantasy transfer plans up in the air a little:

I fully understand I had to start on the bench. I could only train once with the group. Then there are some more players the manager can pick, so of course I had to start off the bench. With regards to my injury I can say it feels pretty well, up to 100% fit. I just have to keep up the hard work this week and hope I start next game.

Dimitar Berbatov has failed to recover from an ankle injury in time for Man United’s Champions League trip to Basel. There’s no let-up in problems up front for United right now and with Javier Hernandez also injured ahead of the weekend league clash with Wolves, Sir Alex Ferguson has something of a dilemma. Having just returned from a muscle injury, Danny Welbeck is not fully fit, though Fergie used Nani as a makeshift centre forward against Aston Villa last weekend- an option he could possibly revisit at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Aleksandar Kolarov has been ruled out for four weeks after picking up a groin problem. The left-back picked up the injury in last week’s Carling Cup win over Arsenal and was subbed off just half an hour into the Emirates clash, meaning Gael Clichy is likely to be nailed-on for the next few Gameweeks, though Joleon Lescott could potentially offer cover if Roberto Mancini remains keen to rotate with regularity over a bust festive period.

Mancini admitted this morning he is keen for the club to offload Carlos Tevez amid suggestions the player is in talks with AC Milan regarding a proposed move to Serie A. With Milan’s vice-president Adriano Galliani stating he is already negotiating with Tevez’s advisors, Mancini went on to say:

I don’t know what the situation is with Carlos at this moment. I think that for us it is important to sell him. We can do this for him and for the club. If he has the chance to go to Italy, I am happy for him.

Harry Redknapp reckons he may get more from his Tottenham team if Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon switch wing roles. The Spurs boss feels his decision to move Bale right and Lennon left was key to his team’s performance against Bolton last weekend, saying:

The turning point at West Brom last week, I felt, was when I changed the two wingers over about eight minutes into the second half and we started opening them up. So it’s something that’s interesting with those two. Aaron’s been in good form lately. (But) I think he’s better on the left than on the right, in all honesty. I think he gets more opportunities to score goals when he plays on the left. On the other side he tends to go one way.

The FA are to investigate Luis Suarez after the Liverpool forward appeared to gesture towards Fulham fans in last night’s defeat at Craven Cottage. This only adds to the Uruguayan’s woes, with his alleged racism charge against Patrice Evra also still hanging over him. With Liverpool facing a kind run of upcoming fixtures, it perhaps places doubts against Suarez as a Fantasy option over the next few weeks, though his form on the pitch has been admittedly below-par this season.

Ugh. And iwas almost certain i was gonna trade him for Nani. Guess i'll need to live without Man U attacking cover then. Kompany > 7.0 defender instead then (unless Mata > Nani seems decent)

Yep, PPI is a piece of sh1t system. Some would argue it is more transparent but I disagree.

What's apparent to me is a shot of target is worth - a bazillion PPI.

Mata only had one shot off target though. I guess he was subbed before the last two goals, which will have influenced the PPI number, but still.... He had an assist, set up a fair few chances, kept a clean sheet and was on the winning team.

    Hello

Please can you give some advice?

    My team is:

    Vorm (Westwood)

    Richards, Jones, baines (Simpson, Gabbidon)

    Silva, Drenthe, VDV, Moses (dyer)

    Balotelli, RVP, Adebayor

I have one free transfer and 0.4m in the bank.

What do you think I should do?

I was thinking of doing Yakabu and Bale in for Balotelli and drenthe???

    Please help ASAP!!!!

    Thanks

Those two transfers are solid, I'd do them, Yak has nice fixtures and Bale is definitely on form, the two you're losing are currently poor.

But you do still have both Moses and Dyer.. Nice back line though 😉

If you had both Ben Arfa or Sinclair and were getting rid of one for Nani, who would you choose? Sinclair is on pens and some free kicks so is a threat there but he’s going through a bit of a crap patch atm. Ben Arfa on the other hand hasn’t been back from injury long and isn’t a guaranteed started but has some very tasty fixtures coming up (plus I only just bought him in!)

    Sinclair: FUL, newc, eve, QPR
    Barfa: nor, SWA, WBA, bol

Anyone else think Larsson's penalty was exceptionally shit? Not only did he telegraph his intentions with the run-up... he basically lost Sunderland the game at the same time 😛

I hope Sess takes them in the future... Bendtner would surely miss his try as well, with the humongous monkey hanging from his back. Bendtner is really cool with his chewing-gum and everything, but nothing he does on the pitch would lead me to think that this guy has a self-confidence that's off the charts. He had loads of chances vs Wolves, but every time he got the ball you could see that there was too much going on in the big head of his.

I also have the holy trinity and think I'm going to hold on to VDV for at least one more week to see what happens now he's "fully fit". If he doesn't play or has reduced game time then I'll ship him.

If you feel so strong then get dvd back next week. Stoke(a) wont be easy, Arry might start him from bench and even if he starts the risk is he has not played recently other than his cameo vs Bolton so he might be a bit rusted.

If you have Ade/Bale already and no Manu cover then I think it's a good idea to get Nani in for Wolves. Especially if Nani plays in the "hole". Nani has not scored for a couple of weeks and Wolves are shipping goals all over the show.

        Even for a hit.

From last post, would be interested to hear more thoughts:

    Aguero…

I bought him last week as a one week punt against Norwich but it didn’t really pay off. My plan was to ditch him for Ba this week to free up cash.

But I’m not so sure now. Surely he will be more nailed on for minutes with the Champs League out of the way, and City will always score goals. He’s also suddenly a bit of a differential at the top of my minileagues, with most having ditched him for the RVP, Ade, Ba/Sturridge frontline.

    Anyone else considering keeping?

Could have done without Suarez doing something else last night, I worry there'll be a ban coming his way but hopefully he'll be OK for a couple of weeks at least.

I've been warned that there won't be no 🙁 Can you imagine a weekend not knowing the result of the team you support? Should be able to change midweek next week though, back in the land of Calgary then.

Should I keep VDV? Or should I switch him for Nani or Adam? (I have Bale and Adebayor for Spurs already)
    Cheers

I am in the exact same position. See above. I have no idea what to do. The danger of having all of the holy trinity is that if spurs have a poor result and don't score then most of your best players will get poor returns.
Getting rid of dvd spreads the risk.

Right! Yes, seen. Christina might have me convinced. I had Nani for a while and then got rid of him last week for Bale, thinking that I might do VDV back to Nani this week. But now FFScout is telling me that Nani is fit.....but then again, Defoe is doing it for Harry, so why not just play VDV from the bench?

The mind boggles, but I suspect I'll do VDV to Nani. (Also like you, my only ManU cover is Jones)

So much talk of Ba, Yakubu, Sturridge etc as your bargain forward.

For a big differential (1.8% ownership) why are more of us not considering Steve Morison. With 4 goals in last 5 games (including ARS and mci) he seems to be a steal at 5.0m which will free up even more funds to spend on bit hitters in midfield and defence.

    Shhhh...

Yakubu still at ridiculously low ownership though... I'm thinking of getting him in for his two home games next week. There's something fascinating in thought of having the oldest 29 year old in the world in your team 🙂

Given the choice, I don't like players from small teams. Someone like Sturridge can score anywhere.

          😆

I think Retro makes a fair point though. Chelsea should naturally score more than Norwich or Blackburn or Newcastle and therefore Sturridge seems the safer bet.

If you are registred with them you can play the dream team each week, basically pick what you think will be the best squad along with everyone else and they choose the highest picked players if that makes sense?

Baines was on the banch originally but having a def that expensive sat on the bench is pointless.

    Team is currently:

    Vorm (Al-Habsi)
    Jag, Jones, ShawX (Hughes, Bosingwa)
    Sinclair, Ramires, VdV, Drenthe (Faurlin)
    RvP, Yak, Ade

1 FT, £1.2m in the bank.

    Was thinking VdV -> Bale/Silva

Alternatively, could do Adebayor -> Ba (decent fixtures coming up), which would free up enough cash for VdV & Drenthe -> Silva & Bale in the coming weeks.

Thoughts? I know the defence needs work, but I’m not really fussed about that for now…

    vorm ruddy
    enrique walker kompany simpson wilkinson
    vdv silva walters drenthe allen
    rvp aguero adebayor

    which sounds better

    1) walker and aguero out for jones and ba
    2) walker and vdv out for jones and bale

given that vdv is fit possibly i could give him one more week if not i could downgrade to bale next week

no hits i've 2 freebies, i know aguero seems strange but alot of money tied up here
