Nicklas Bendtner is a doubt for Martin O’Neill’s debut bow at the Stadium of Light. Andre Santos expects to be out for three weeks, while Alan Pardew is still hopeful of having Fabricio Coloccini for Newcastle’s trip to Norwich on Saturday.

Spurs have confirmed this morning that Jermaine Jenas is likely to be out for the rest of the season. The midfielder, on loan at Aston Villa, picked up an Achilles injury in last weekend’s game against Man United and has since undergone surgery, with his parent club expecting him to be ready for the start of pre-season.

Blackburn skipper Chris Samba has backed Yakubu to grab 20 goals for the Ewood Park outfit this season after the Nigerian’s 4 goals against Swansea took his league tally to 9 for the season. The former Everton striker is proving a cut-price Fantasy Premier League gem so far this season and Samba revealed that facing Yakubu in training each week is keeping him on top of his own game.

Nicklas Bendtner may be out of Sunderland’s game with Blackburn on Sunday, according to Martin O’Neill. The new Black Cats boss is facing a forward crisis, with Dong Won-Ji and perhaps Ryan Noble vying with Stephane Sessegnon for a chance to lead the line in his first game in charge in the event of the big Dane’s absence. O’Neill admitted:

Nicklas has a groin problem and we’ll see how he is towards the weekend. But if the game was today, he wouldn’t make it as it stands.

While O’Neill also revealed he is considering recalling Asamoah Gyan from his loan spell with Al-Ain, reports suggest this is unlikely to materialize. The UAE club paid a substantial fee for the striker’s services and have seventeen leagues games still to play this season. Factor in Gyan’s African Cup of Nations duties with Ghana in the New Year, where he could be unavailable for up to six weeks, and the odds seem stacked against an early Wearside return.

Kenny Dalglish has revealed Liverpool have no fresh injury worries ahead of this weekend’s clash against QPR. Steven Gerrard is still ruled out but with Lucas sidelined for the season and Jay Spearing suspended for three games, the Reds boss has talked up the prospects of Jonjo Shelvey. The youngster was recalled from a loan spell at Blackpool due to Lucas’ injury and grabbed a couple of goals for the reserves in midweek.

Dalglish, while revealing the club won’t appeal Spearing’s ban, was scathing in his assessment of the FA’s handling of the Luis Suarez-Patrice Evra case. Suarez was charged with improper conduct for a gesture in Monday night’s match at Fulham but his manager is furious with the fact that the authorities have still failed to act on the alleged racism charge which has been hanging over Suarez’s head for nine weeks now.

Cheik Tiote and Danny Guthrie have both been ruled out of Newcastle’s trip to Norwich on Saturday. Alan Pardew reckons there is an β€œoutside chance” that Fabricio Coloccini will be available for the Carrow Road showdown but was deliberately cagey over his central defensive plans:

I don’t want to give too much away. We had no centre halves by the end against Chelsea and 10 men on the pitch. Tamas is an option and up to speed- he is looking to kickstart his Newcastle career. Davide (Santon) and Danny (Simpson) are options.

Pardew also admitted Guthrie could be out of action for up to six weeks, though on a more positive not, announced that Steven Taylor has undergone successful surgery on his injured Achilles.

Andre Santos has confirmed he expects to be sidelined for three weeks. The Arsenal left-back picked up an ankle injury in the Champions League game at Olympiacos on Tuesday and has now received a prognosis of the problem after a doctor’s assessment. Reports suggest youngster Martin Angha could be promoted to the first-team with Arsene Wenger’s side so limited for options, though it’s more likely that Thomas Vermaelen will move from the centre to cover on the flank.

if he's upfront sessegnon tends to end up with a 2 pointer as he needs to play deeper in order for his creativity to come to the fore.. either way dont see much.. it is just blackburn though

Still could get a decent xi out this weekend I reckon:

      Krul

      Simpson
      Coloccini (Perch)
      Santon
      R Taylor

      Gutierrez
      Gosling
      Cabaye
      Obertan

      Ben Arfa
      Ba

That said, I'm not investing in any of our defenders anytime soon.

I think, given the fixtures and the fact we can't sit back, Ba is a good option.

Totally flumuxed with what to do this week.

    Link attached.

Want to downgrade Suarez but scared to as he'll prob score at some point soon!

Have two free transfers so even if i dont do Suarez this week, would like to do something positive to not lose a transfer.

    Possibly brown to J.Evans?

Or go Dyer to Allen (i know hes not playing this week, but i wasn't gonna play dyer anyway).

Enrique seems to be a must-have in most people's teams but I can't seem to find room for him!

I've got Kompany who costs more but has scored more (admittedly he's not been the best value of the two), Shawcross and Ward rotating (who've earned me more points than Enrique would have) and I've got Simpson and Brown rotating (who've earned me 45 points and represent much better value).

Is it time to say good bye to Brown and Stick Enrique in and play him every week now that Newcastle's defensive record looks impossible to maintain with their injuries?

Posted this on the tail end of the last article πŸ™‚

Good afternoon y’all. After an upsetting CL evening last night its time to swich into EPL mode. I’m having a tricky time sorting out my line-up and substitute order. Anyone care to have a look?

    GK: Vorm

DEF: Jones – Enrique – Tierney – Brown

MF: Nani (vc) – Silva – VDV

    FWD: Adebayor – RVP (C) – Ba

BENCH: Krul – Gower – Drenthe – Jagielka

Should I play Gower/Drenthe ahead of Tierney maybe or stick to the 4-3-3?

eam linked, got 2 free transfers and 2.3m in bank.

    A) VDV > Bale + 1 transfer
    B) Walters + Suarez > Nani + Ba
    C) Suarez > Rooney/Aguero/Ba + 1 trasnfer
    D) Upgrading Moses > some 6.9m max and benching Walters

If vdv plays, bale will be shit. nani and ba combo are surely going to bring me more pts than suarez and walters, especially not suarez. nani has some graet games and iam sure he will plays, ba also.Option c is out of picture, and maybe d? but whom? Larsson? And i dont like investing in defence big money, because, i have bae, enrique and simpson, brown, wilko combo for rotation. Any thoughts are appreciated. thnx

Very disappointed that he was taken back by Liverpool - he scored six in five games for Blackpool, including a hat trick against Dirty Leeds at Elland Road. Impressive stuff. I was wondering if he was worth a shout, particularly given Holloways's record with loanees from the Merseyside area.

Starting to lose faith in the City defence at last. Kompany has saved me with some random attacking points lately but in fact they've not got a CS in 7 or 8 PL games now and Mancini recently said that the side he puts out each week is filled with so many attacking players that they will always concede some stupid goals. Add to that the fact that their fixtures are bad (short term) and it might be time to get rid?

Yeah Kompany can't keep redeeming himself with goals and assists and even in form you would only predict 2 cleanies in the next 7.
Liverpool and Man U have defensive form and fixtures for that time too. If City start to shore up in the next two then at least Clichy is a cut-price way back into their good three fixtures (STO, wba, sun).

I know the fixtures aren't great but YaYa Toure, who is now cut price, is starting to call out to me.

Anyone got any thoughts on the fella. Looking for a mid for under 7.5 in exchange for Ramsey (The Moses of the south) and YaYa is looking tempting.

I remember me and thee speaking of the merits of Yaya and Silva pre-season an Yaya's up turn in scoring points reminded me of that. I dont have Silva, that ship has well and truly sailed for me but im considering him in a couple of weeks i think. If not then, then when i WC. The guy is a beast and never looks like needing a rest. He doest seem shy about getting forward either, think hes a good option personally.

he will be in the ACON in january though....so now or next week will probably be the time to get him in for those christmas games.

He had loads of promise didnt he in pre season, then silva marched on. His recent form is indeed the form of last season and he's a player that can't be ignored when he starts on those rampaging runs.

        he's a good option cause
1.silva et all will be rested over the next few weeks so he'll play furtehr forward
2.Against weaker opponents (STO wba sun in 2 weeks) City boss the other team so much that it does'nt matter where he plays as any one is in for a goal/assist
        3.90 mins every week

the only bad points are che and ARS and he'll be off to ACON soon..

I'm very tempted next week as part of my transfer policy of getting a better player in than the one I'm ditching...(sounds obvious but you'd be suprised how many people don't follow that advice).

Ramsey is a 2-3pt man, the assister of the assist. Therefore FPL dirt.
YaYa is a rampaging bull of a man in the most attacking side the premiership has seen since Man Utd were good. Therefore FPL gold.

Seriously thinking of getting rid of Silva. Think he could be rotated in the easier games over Christmas, like the Stoke (H) game which comes three days after the Arsenal game. If he is rested in the easier games, then his fixtures over the next few weeks are pretty horrid. Not even sure if he's that great value at 10.5 anyway.

        Thinking of:

        Silva > Sinclair
        Fabio > Agger

Will give me enough money to upgrade Brown to Baines next week.

Lay off the jagerbombs! I agree Silva might not be value but he's consistent and everyone has him! If you are going to lose him surely there is someone better the Sinclair? But then who am i to argue with someone who finished in the top... what was it again? πŸ˜‰

Over the next five weeks, I'll play Sinclair four times: FUL new QPR TOT. Pretty decent. He's nailed on, takes penalties and has been very unlucky not to have scored from open play so far this season. I quite like the punt.

            Also considering Brunt and Eagles.
