We were struggling this week. Crippled by a cold that was verging on deadly man-flu, I made a miracle recovery without the aid of placenta treatment to struggle into the studio to infect/accompany Mark on another podcast.

My ailments were not my only curse; only last weekend my extraordinary run of missing out on penalty saves continued when Tim Krul (no pun intended, but I’ll take it), palmed away Lampard’s effort. Inevitably, I’d left the Dutchman on my bench.

Mark refuses to buy the fact I’ve missed out on a penalty save for five years, diverting the discussion towards the mini-league gap, chatter on Van der Vaart and debate over United’s plight at both ends of the field.

The usual smattering of regulars are all present and semi-correct – if you can understand a word I’m saying, you might just enjoy it all.

    Nani due for 3 games in 8 days.
    A rotation risk?
    I've half a mind to captain him.

      i think fergie will weaken the sqaud for the europa games. he's not afraid to do it in the fa cup. so if he does want to rest nani it would be there. he's a pretty safe bet to play all the upcoming pl games

      Form or fixtures really. I'd go Mata though his set-pieces and amazing form do it for me. He never seems to go missing in games either like Nani does.

    If anyone is yet to get any dinner, Dominos are doing 50% off any pizza online, and if there's 2 of you, you can still do the add another pizza for £5 deal.

    As long as you spend £9.99 so you can get it delivered.

        I hear that. I just dont think I could resist getting a chelsea mid for the wigan game and the matches up until the DGW. Mata could be great capt next week when RVP faces city.

        Either Drenthe--->Ramires or VDV--->Mata are moves I am thinking off. (I refuse to lose Silva)

        Got Ba but maybe when he goes to the ACON I may be looking at Sturridge.

        It's a tough one. What I really want is someone to really convince me to go for Nani but no-one really has yet, majority say Mata, which I suppose going on form you'd have to back him.

          Moyes will never reveal anything, so guarded.

          He's the kind of manager who writes out his team sheet and covers it with his arm for fear that someone is copying. Then he's reluctant to give it to the ref.

          Can't help but this the VDV news is going to be vague as ever. My gut is he gets benched this week, then starts next week after Defoe plays midweek. Bigger fish to fry in my team this week though.

          Now I understand why you changed your grav to a couple of south american stunners!

      Suarez or RVP for me... Got Suarez as (C) at moment.

      Arsenal got a lot of injuries - Everton quite stuffy side.

      Only a fool doubts RVP by now though to be fair!

    Quick straw poll.. I have Adeboyer, Van Persie and Aguero and am considering getting rid of Aguero and have 1.8m free.. so I can afford to replace Aguero with any striker... If money was no option who would you chose based on fixtures and gut feeling?

      Ba is the sensible option based on fixtures although Newcastle's defence is in pieces. I went for Sturridge myself since I've got no Chelsea coverage. Plus I can see them scoring vs Citeh on Monday and Sturridge seems to be a likely outlet considering his recent goalscoring form.

    Westwood (Ruddy)
    Simpson/Enrique/Monk (Kompany, Assou Ekotto)
    Nani/VDV/Walters/Larsson (Dyer)
    RVP/Sturridge/Aguero

    Need to downgrade as i need Krul next week, Westwood has a horrible fixture and Sunderland/Newcastle rotate nicely until end of the season.

        Yeh don't like the idea for getting rid of DVD after holding out so I'll be keeping him, trouble is the money tied up in him, I'll have up to 8.9 to get a new midfielder if I replace Ramsey (been wanting shot of him for weeks now) so trying to find value in someone under 8.9 is kinda hard, Adam is a possibility, unless I take another hit to rase money for Mata?

      I'm going to start sounding like a sheep if i carry on, but Ba's the one for he next few weeks. Toon have to up their attack cos clean sheets are going to be at a premium now Taylor's gone, he's massive for them.

      Like the team though, two to change for me would be Sess and Yak. Maybe Larsson for Sess, as he's more consistent (last week apart!). Yak might be alrite short-term though.

    My lengthy transfer options, thoughts on any of these, from the obvious to the big punts:

    A) Gabbidon -> Smalling / Jones / Evra
    B) Gabbidon -> Vermalen
    C) Gabbidon -> Agger / Johnson
    D) Moses -> Adam
    E) Moses -> Yaya

      A or B look good as do F or G, E only worth it if you don't have Silva IMO C and D not worth considering. If you want transfers long term that Mata is a better bet than Nani and Jones or Evra better than Smalling.

      I'm sticking with him... no news is good news?

      I will convince myself, I really will.

        I'm keeping too, just hoping against hope that he's back for Norwich at home next week.

          Me too. Just how long does a "knock" take to over come? If I'd know it was an "injury" things may have been different...

    Opinions please: Smalling in for Koscielny or Evans in for Wilkinson?

    Evans at 4.4 is very tempting

      Didn't realise he had gone down.

      Slightly annoying, 0.1m off getting him and Nani.

      I tried Evans earlier in the season but the rotation risk is just too high, may has well grab a locked up starter over the busy xmas season

      I'm going Evans for Simpson...it is a total punt but the potential returns make it worth a try.

        Very hard to predict what Ferguson be thinking but at 4.4 he could be great value and it looks like Vidic is out for awhile so rotation risk much lower

      I brought in Smalling over Nani this week as he's good value at 5.2m and imo, will start games now he's back to fitness. Thing is, United are a wait and see this week. I don't think Wolves will be a walkover and United have only 1 day preparation when you factor in the travelling back from Basel and rest.

      I wouldn't be surprised if Valencia is the stand out performer this week so I'm going to suck it and see. (Mata's fixtures look very tasty after the Man City game, btw...).

        +1 Very good points. I was tempted to get Nani in for a hit, but would rather wait and see and get Mata in next week instead if Utd flop.

    wellbeck or drogba?

    Have no utd or chelsea players but got aguero and yaya toure?

    Chelsea in form and should do well hopefully

    utd is just dodgy the now, they are pathetic and vidic out could be dodgy for them

    Any advice?

      Drogba - Chelsea have a great run of fixtures from now until February and it looks like he's just about to hit form. I'm getting Mata in next week, otherwise I'd be seriously considering bringing Drogba in.

      I think (hope) VDV will start.
      I've just sold Suarez but am already feeling a bit regretful 🙁 Liverpool are at home to QPR - surely he'll score? I'd keep Suarez this week and get Drogba next week when Chelsea play Wigan.
