Today’s big news was, of course, confirmation that Nemanja Vidic is ruled out for the season with a knee injury. The injuries rack up for David Moyes, with Jack Rodwell and Leon Osman both absent for the trip to Arsenal with hamstring strains.

Steve Kean will give late fitness tests to Ruben Rochina and Martin Olsson, Nigel Reo Coker is a big doubt for Bolton and Alan Pardew is considering handing French teenager Mehdi Abeid a first-team start in central midfield as injury-ravaged Newcastle make their way to Norwich, with the Magpies boss still crossing his fingers over Fabricio Coloccini.

Micah Richards remain a doubt for Man City due to a calf problem, with Pablo Zabaleta expected to fill in at right-back in the event of his absence as the leaders travel to Chelsea.

      I'm bringing Rooney in as he is nailed onto start and Utd are going to have to start scoring goals now that Vidic is out, as clean sheets will be that much harder to come by.

    Anyone bringing Smalling in?

    I want rid of Bendtner and am eyeing up Ba as replacement, but need to free up some cash. Considering Kompany to Smalling or Given to Robinson.. Thought welcome.

      My problem with Smalling is that he's almost as much of a risk as Evans, and I'm not sure that extra faint whiff of security is worth 0.8.

            Smalling is quality, and Evans is nowhere in comparison to Smalling/Jones or even an ageing Rio for that matter.

              I repeat: in my opinion Smalling is almost as much of a rotation risk as Evans, that's my opinion, I have no objection to yours being different.

                what I want to say is at the start of the season Fergi was rotating his players bcoz he knew Vidic would be back..but now that he is out for the season, he will perhaps go back to a more settled back line and the only way I see JE a certainity in the back 4 if Jones continue to play CM for rest of the season..

      go on you know you want to. What a differential he could be. Berba basically won my ML last year for the guy who did win it (I came home in 3rd), he has a good record against lesser teams and it's about he scored.

      Fergie has said Smalling likely to play at CB and that Rafa and Fabio are out, so chances are Jones at rb (unless he plans on putting Valencia there)

    With Bale a doubt, what do you think to this for a potentially bloody mad double transfer (4 points)

    A: Kompany > Evans + Dyer > Nani (it'll mean Jones, Evans, Nani)

    An alternative would be:
    B: Drenthe > Nani (then considering Drenthe for the DGW). Midfield of: Bale Nani Silva Walters (Dyer)

    or have a bench of Drenthe Kompany Ward, believing Bale will play and do:
    C: Nothing
