A hugely significant fixture in the capital tonight, sees Chelsea host league-leaders Manchester City in the final outing of Gameweek 15. The Dugout Discussion has swung it’s doors wide open, so come and and digest the emerging team news…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Bosingwa, Terry, Ivanovic, Cole, Romeu, Ramires, Meireles, Mata, Drogba, Sturridge.

Man City XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Clichy, Kompany, Lescott, Barry, Yaya Toure, Milner, Silva, Balotelli, Aguero.

The visitors line-up exactly as expected, with Mario Balotelli partnering Sergio Aguero upfront, and Pablo Zabaleta replaces the injured Micah Richards. It’s the home side who make a couple of changes from the game at Newcastle, with the free-roaming David Luiz banned and the once guaranteed-starter Frank Lampard dropped. Jose Bosingwa comes in, pushing Branislav Ivanovic infield, as does Raul Meireles, slotting into the midfield.

So VDV -> Mata? None of my league leaders have them so it could be a good punt...

Not sure I'd do it this week even without a hit. Stoke were always going to be a tough fixture and VDV was not the only Spur who looked out of sorts. It's a good home fixture for them this week and while Nani is definitely on form, he does not usually keep it up away from home. Stick for this week.

i'd have to agree with aguerolicious. over past 2 seasons nani has performed more at home than away.

this season it's tighter, with 2pts more on average at home than away.

    VDV, Nani, Silva, Walters
    Ade (C), Yaks (VC), RVP

    RVP 0.7
    Bale Silva Vorm 0.5
    Enrique 0.4
Simpson NTaylor Ramsey Adebayor Sturridge 0.2
    Krul Kompany Nani Sinclair 0.1
    Brown 0.0
I brought Nani in for VDV instead of Bale as it would cost 0.5 to get Bale back and I'd only get rid of Bale if I was prepared to part company for awhile. VDV was at 0.0 and now is -0.1 so I can easily bring him back.
Basically players above 0.2 require serious justification to transfer out.

    Differentials to watch:

Mata - he's still only owned by 7.2% yet is playing as Chelsea's Silva with an amazing 6 fixtures to come starting with wig. Even tot will concede goals, especially with their dodgy defence being shown up by a far weaker team this week and Chelsea attacking so effectively now.

Shotton - 4.0 bargain way into Stoke defence AND out of position in midfield, fixtures are mixed but the all important home games are against the worst attacks in the league (AVL, WIG) with next week's away game against similar no-hopers (wol).

Cabaye - short term move for three great fixtures (SWA, WBA, bol). Good choice if you can't get Ba into your strikeforce as he is the most likely to supply him or score, especially with the other contender Ben Arfa still not firmly in the team.

Nasri - Milner really didn't impress today (neither did Barry) and I fancy Mancini to respond to defeat by returning to the attacking game he abandoned for most of the Chelsea match. Medium term fixtures are perfect for attack (STO, wba, sun) with a classic return to his old club next week - I hardly expect Mancini to defend against Arsenal given their squads.

So I've had a decent week with 82 points and I've already made my free transfer (Brown to Evans) but I'm contemplating on where to go from here. My team is:

    GK: Vorm - Krul

DEF: Jones - Enrique - Evans - Jagielka - Tierney

MID: Nani - VDV - Silva - Gower - Drenthe

FWD: Adebayor - RVP - Ba

I'd love to get some Chealsea cover in for next week. Sturridge seems like the easy option but I'm kind of liking the look of my front 3 atm. My only other option really is Mata which means I'd have to probably get rid of VDV. So essentially it boils down to - bring Mata in for a hit or stick?

stick, mata wasn't particularly impressive against man city anyway, and home to sunderland? vdv is a great shout. sturridge is the man at chelsea, but I have the same front 3 as you so same dilemma. basically vdv could've had a goal (had he taken pk) and assist, I think he'll be hungry at stoke. that being said I've shipped him for nani so I hope he does jack 🙂

Very similar team to me but your DF is better and my MF is marginally better.

I dont know about you but I'm concerned about Drenthe. Everton are just not releasing enough info about his injury or when we can expect to see him back.

I'm also thinking about doing something with VDV, but will perhaps wait a week to see how he does against sunderlands leaky defence at home.

Good team though and good score 😉

    Hi everyone,

I am considering Silva to Nani & RVP to Rooney for an 8 pt hit.

Silva & RVP score very few points every week, whereas I think Nani & Roo have the potential to score a hat-trick every alternate week and a brace in the other. They are simply awesome.

I am a newbie here. Please help!

Also, will Sturridge's assist stay? I am a noob. Also, how do you link your team? Thanks guys.

RVP scores very few points every week? In the last 8 weeks he's brought in 6 double digital hauls and only not returned anything once! I think doing one of those moves is a good idea but both is overkill. You'd need them to run rampant just to justify the hit whereas RVP and Silva can and will most likely get the job done regardless. Maybe Silva -> Nani

Been thinking same but if you have Rooney would captain him against QPR, I think he's just getting started and QPR also have a giddy defence. I can't count on Ade on any given match although I can over the long term, so wouldn't captain him.

No Rooney is the only one who you can be sure will 100% play and now he's out of his deeper MF role will play the furthest up the field and give you the best chance at a goal or assist

Yeah but Nani gives you cheaper (and almost as good) coverage, as well as the fact you can you Ba/Adebayor/RVP/Aguero/Sturridge up front, whereas Nani is going just as well as any other midfielder at the moment, and is highest scoring mid so far..

Goals yeah you'd go for Rooney, assists Nani, throw in the difference in scoring for mids and fwds, distribution of goals and assists and bonus points - it all starts to get a bit too close to call. On a practical note I'd be far happier captaining Rooney out of the two so he would win after the doubling.

I really am at a loss what to do this week with my team set up

I could play 5 at the back as all the below could keep CS

    Baines at home to Norwich
    Walker at home to SUN
    Evans away to QPR
    Simpson at home to Swans
    Shawx away to Wolves

However could never do this so can you put them in order picking 3. above is my current order of preference

I thought Zab played on the right but can he also cover on the left? He is a quality defender, a defender that actually does what his name says.

Richards was doubtful for this match but you'd think next week is plausible. Guess if Zab can play left that increases chances of him doing so and hence bad news for Walcott

I've definitely seen Zab cover at LB last season before they signed Clichy. He's a versatile player and can cover either Full back spot comfortably.

So if Richards is back I'd say it's an 80% chance Zab will play LB.

If Richards is still out I'd guess it will be Zab at RB and Lescott at LB with Kolo Toure filling in at CB

Crap I wanted to have made my decision on selling VDV before his price drop. I bought him at 9.9 so at 10.1 I could still bank the 0.1 profit. But I may as well wait until friday or saturday morning now after press conferences etc.....

I'm most interested to hear Arry explain why he's no longer on pens or if it was a hammy related decision.

Nani will definitely rise at least once more. It's possible he could be 10.2 by saturday, just depends on things like if the scout picks him, if Fergie talks him up etc....

I'm afraid once the bandwagon starts rolling it's hard to predict how fast it will pick up pace.

If I were you I'd probably move on Nani before he becomes unaffordable. I already brought Nani in last week so can relax on that score.

I'm thinking VDV to either Bale or Mata and as both are comfortably cheaper it's not such a pressing issue.

Nani is on 44% on FISO so you should have a couple of days to make up your mind

            What?

He is a pretty consistent starter if you consider the rotation policy of Man City. He is still getting assists pretty regularly.

He is bound to tear it up again and you will regret having dropped him.

So I mentioned this further up the page in a comment but:

What the hell is up with Drenthe? Or more to the point what the hell is up with Moyes and the Everton staff releasing practically zero information about the guys injury?

The guy hasnt been seen on a football pitch in over a month yet there has never been any indication that his injury would keep him out for that long.

I need some closure damn it 😡

Yup, and I want to know when he will taken off the protected list. Since i don't have any real budget midfielders in mind, I haven't wasted a transfer on him.

He is on -49% on FISO so I assume even when he comes off the protected list he wont drop immedietly.

I'm really hoping we get some kind of word one way or the other from Moyes this week. It's really annoying.

If any other team has a player who will be out for over a month we always know about it within days of their injury

Quick Question guys, how confident are we that N Dyer has now lost his place in the Swans starting line up?

Read that people been saying he lost his place but havent seen anything more official, could just easily be rested imo.

Cheers Ila. Will need all hands on decks for this upcoming period, and may have to lose him if he doesn't play next GW. Any news on Wilko? I see he's been flagged so possibly back after injury?

Yeah I agree, we'd need all the bench warm and ready to fill in 🙂 Still feel its not worth yet to do Dyer to Gower/Allen after just 1 game tho.

No clue on Wilko sorry 😕

Was planning to bring in Ba this week for Sturridge but he's doing too well.
My other strikers are Adebayor and RVP. Seems like I can't get him in right?

Tough situation. I would think Stick with Studge, Form plus Wigan next up, could be in for a big day.

Ba's fixtures are certainly more favorable but Sturridge is playing in a team that is capable of more goals. That win today should push Chelsea forward. Unless you have an idle transfer I would look elsewhere to make changes in your team.

I've got exactly the same lineup and am thinking of replacing Adebayor with Ba. Seems crazy with a home game against Sunderland up next.

    2 Free Transfers

    1, Adebayor > Sturridge
    2. Brown > Shotton

    Worth it?

Also – why didn't Pilkington play the last game? He's got Newcastle at home next week. Drop or keep?

You're a week out on the fixture with Pilko there. He's got Everton away this week.

Who have you got in mind as his replacement if you ship him out?

I'm not sure about losing Ade just yet, especially with a home fixture up next. But I can equally see the appeal of Studge so it's a judgement call really.

      Brown to Shotton looks sound

are you sure you want to remove adebayor? People including me (rank 1524 last year) are thinking of giving him the armband. And you want to take him out???

I thought i needed to give my credentials here. But I can see the appeal in sturridge, but if you really want him that bad, transfer him in for your third striker. (assuming rvp is the 2nd)

          you are right.

          must. stop. knee.

what I really want is pilkington and ramsey out – but it's tough finding a replacment for either of them.

Losing Ade so close to the DGW could be costly. Although it's held him in 1 of my forwards spots so far too. How nice it would be to have 4 forwards.

My thoughts are it's a good team if you can replace Romeu and Eagles.

Romeu is very much a DM so not good fantasy stuff. And Eagles is playing for Bolton who are going from worse to worst. Get rid IMO.

      Can you afford

      Romeu>Gower
      Eagles>Larsson/Walters

I wanted larsson but im 0.4 off and same goes for walters! hmmm

i can afford gower with 0.1 to spare. so if i do a -4 hit im still 0.3 of larsson or walters

        agree.

mikel was playing a lot of games at DM at the start of the season. i though the looked good value at 4.5.

no fantasy love to be had there.

i got Romeu in gw 14 as a player who was getting game time and cheap for a mid so i cud get more funds to use on better players. i might keep him for the mean time but i do want to replace eagles.

Anyone suggest a mid for a max of 6.3

Sorenson is on my watchlist also. Looks great value if Stoke can reproduce that early season defensive form.
