A hugely significant fixture in the capital tonight, sees Chelsea host league-leaders Manchester City in the final outing of Gameweek 15. The Dugout Discussion has swung it’s doors wide open, so come and and digest the emerging team news…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Bosingwa, Terry, Ivanovic, Cole, Romeu, Ramires, Meireles, Mata, Drogba, Sturridge.

Man City XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Clichy, Kompany, Lescott, Barry, Yaya Toure, Milner, Silva, Balotelli, Aguero.

The visitors line-up exactly as expected, with Mario Balotelli partnering Sergio Aguero upfront, and Pablo Zabaleta replaces the injured Micah Richards. It’s the home side who make a couple of changes from the game at Newcastle, with the free-roaming David Luiz banned and the once guaranteed-starter Frank Lampard dropped. Jose Bosingwa comes in, pushing Branislav Ivanovic infield, as does Raul Meireles, slotting into the midfield.

You can access the Dugout Discussion chatroom right here.

Ugh. VDV has dropped 0.2 since I've got him back in last week.

    Disastrous transfer.

can some1 please explain to me why anyone would have Drenthe? he has 35pts....only 2 GW's have been above 5pts and hasnt played in 3 games....is this some inside joke that I missed to go along with a Tevez transfer? Anderson has been injured for 6 straight matches and has the same amount of points...

there was an FFS article a while ago and a Drenthe bandwagon.

it was all so feasible back then. ex Real Madrid player for 6.0M with attacking potential looking to establish himself in the EPL.

as far as i know, he still has an injury but he should/might/possibly be back soon and who knows what may happen.

Masochism for me. As a new arrival he's had to work himself into the team. He's unexpectedly been out with a "knock" that has lasted 3 weeks but had a fitness test before the last game so should be fit this week. He's arguably Everton's player with most potential and can be "explsove" (whatever that means!). Everton's fixtures are fantastic.

first crazy idea of the day, dropping krul for moreira and pocketing .8 in a move so miserly, it would make Silas Marner jealous.

Ive got Vorm, could just play him every week and screw rotation which may net me a few extra points over a stretch, but so what? an extra .8 somewhere else could make a bigger impact. Moreira i assume would replace vorm were he to ever not play, so Id never be stuck with nothing. (Aware of the double negative)

Plus with the way newcastles defence is looking now, and already owning r taylor, who can provide returns for any potential newcastle cleanies, it seems kruls value may be at its peak right now.

That being said, I plan to roll with krul for the next 2 gws, but if i save an extra transfer by gw 18, i just might do it. Now who wants me institutionalized?

Chances are your replacement keeper will concede on that day too. Why bother? Just invest the cash in outfield players. If lots of clean sheets start appearing just switch it around in week 21 wildcard.

Just get Ruddy like most everyone else.

If Swansea's games get postponed then at least you have another shot at fielding a keeper that GW.

I wouldn't recommend going short handed at this time of the year.

He also revealed midfielder Juan Mata had been assigned to penalty duties, but was happy to hand over responsibility to the confident Lampard for Chelsea's 83rd-minute winner.

It could be a sign that AVB has given him more authority in the team. Especially as Lampard and Drogba are no longer certain starters

True that, but it is promising as a long time Mata owner
I think this just proves Lampard will be on the bench for a while, considering Mata is now 'apparently' on pens.
Either way, he was going to take it yesterday before Lamps moved in, which I assume means he is on pens..

Haha not necessarily, like Spurs, we won't know 100% until next penalty.
Not for me - United don't do cleanies with Vidic and Evans doesn't get forward much.

Many are EVS, he had a shot on goal in the weekend too. Plenty of good cheap defenders around at the moment. I am even considering dropping Enrique for an extra one in a few weeks perhaps.

Already done it. Got him in for Saylor before he dropped again on Saturday night.

Utd still have decent cleanie opportunities ahead and £4.4m to buy into Man Utd defence is not to be sniffed at, in my opinion.

If he doesn't play then one of my benchies comes in. He has more chance of playing than Saylor, that's for sure.

We'll see ... not convinced by Silva over Christmas - think he's a big rotation risk and there's a lot of other potential points scorers at City that they'll always get shared around.

No such thing as a must have.... but we'll see.

The reality is however that he is no more of a rotation risk than Mata, he is the key to the Manchester City side. Plus it isn't worth losing the value of him to only buy him back for 1M more after New Year

To be fair, nothing proves either of them are rotation risks (anymore)
Mata has never been one, he is key to Chelseas success, and will probably get a rest at 60-70 minutes if rested.
Silva has only been benched twice (both 3 days before a Champions League game)

Haha, same here. Seems silly to be getting rid before Sunderland at home, but with his injuries and Defoe in form too, VDV will most likely be rotated throughout the christmas period.

yeah i thought about dropping him, but not for at least 2 more weeks, hes the most owned defender. Its bad enough to drop someone who gets a haul, but horrific when half the league cashed in on said haul. will probably drop him after that. his price should hold til then, maybe one more bump up if he scores well.

Word on the street is that Ade wanted to take it to get over his last missed penalty. VDV didn't look to happy and didn't celebrate the goal. My best guess is that VDV will continue to be the designated player for penalties when on the pitch.

Don't know is probably the answer.

Someone said 'Arry had said (although I haven't seen any link to it) that 'Arry wants his penalty taker on the pitch all the time, VDV with his injuries, and usually coming off at the 60-70 minute mark usually won't be on the pitch all game every game.

Or, he might have slightly strained his hammy again during the match (I think he stopped taking some corners at some point through the first half too), and that's why he didn't take it.

All in all, we're guessing until there's another Spurs penalty.

the EA PPI index leaves no room for subjective judgement, it's just hard numbers... and can be very frustrating... under the old system, Sturridge would definitely get 3bps... but because of his shots off traget, he might get less than Balotelli (!)

Hmmm. Have the two cheapies in the middle (Johnson and Dyer) and although they rotate well, think I need to beef them up a bit. Take your point about Aguero>>Balo. In form tho, and cant stop scoring. Silva-Wagon is slowing, dont want him

    hi guys!

should i make any subs? 0.4 in the bank.

    Vorm (Krul)
    Enrique, Vermaelen, Jones (RTaylor, Monk)
    Nani, Silva, Bale, Walters (Dyer)
    RVP, Ba(c), Adebayor (vc)

Thinking about Shotton/Caulker in for Monk, Sturridge for Adebayor, or downgrading Vermaelen to get Mata in for Walters, or Rooney in for Adebayor.

    Cheers!

Please if there's any justice in the world, let Sturridge get at least 2 bonus points. I won't be able to stand it if he gets 1 or none. I had too tough of a time trying to handle Vorm's lack of baps.

I understand the accountability of the baps this season but it may start to spoil the game a bit. Having someone as your captain who plays out of their skin and doesn't get 3 x 2 obviously makes all the difference. a 'la Vorm

And conversely for some guy who did little to end up with 3 x 2.

As i continue to slowly make ground on most of the casuals in my league, the guy at the top has a 105 point GW. Bleh.

Anyway, i can afford to do Sessegnon > Bale leaving me with a front 7 of....

    Mata, Silva, Nani, Bale
    Sturridge, Adebayor, RvP

My defence isn't great but i never get cleansheets anyway so believe it's best to get 5 cheapies that rotate well and hope for the best. A lot of value about up front leaving it possible to pump money into the midfield. What do you guys think?

The only criticism is Mata and Sturridge. Sturridge is excellent value and I don't think you need both. Mata to Larsson perhaps, giving you some cash to spend if you need it?

tricky but i'm going for Krul.

SWA on the road are not exactly on fire but the NEW defence has had a few set-backs just recently.

having said that, always go for the (H) keeper.......i have Ba so i have to use Krul.

nice position to be in. what about using one freebie to swap Dyer out for another cheapie? He was dropped/poor this week. I have Allen who I think is a better bench player.

Folks, is it worth Walters our for Nani in?

    I have Mata/Silva/VDV/Walters/Gower

I want to keep VDV one more week (easy game), but also Walters has next game easy.

But if I wait..... prices will go up.

I simply think that Walters is huge value (cheap and scoring and price growing).

But he is the only one I can sacrifice for Nani before price grows. Just his next GW worries me. And it would be for a hit.

Worst case scenario is Sturridge doesn't get any BPs. Suarez had 2 assists against WBA and didn't get any. He had 5 shots off target. Although Sturridge got only 3 shots off target there is every chance Balotelli, Meireles & Lampard will be ahead of him.
