Micah Richards is on course for a return against Arsenal this weekend. The Toure brothers are to delay their departure for the African Cup of Nations. Damian Duff returns for Fulham in tonight’s Europa League game with Odense, while Mike Williamson hands Alan Pardew a fitness boost by returning to reserve action yesterday.

Reports suggest Micah Richards is set to be fit for Man City’s clash with Arsenal on Sunday. The right-back missed out at Chelsea in his side’s first loss of the campaign but Roberto Mancini is confident he will be ready for the weekend. With Aleksandar Kolarov injured and Gael Clichy suspended, Mancini hinted Richards’ return would allow him to play Pablo Zabaleta in the left-back position against the Gunners.

Mancini also received a boost ahead of next month’s African Cup of Nations. The Italian is a former team mate of Ivory Coast manager Francois Zahoui and their relationship has reportedly allowed him to delay the departure of Yaya and Kolo Toure for vital cup clashes. The tournament starts on January 21 and participants can call up their players a fortnight before the kick-off but City are expected to be allowed to hold on to the pair for their FA Cup clash with Man United on the 8th, as well as the first-leg of their Carling Cup semi final against Liverpool three days later.

Fabian Delph has returned to Aston Villa training ahead of the home clash with Liverpool. The midfielder missed Saturday’s win at Bolton with a knee knock but assistant boss Peter Grant expects him to be available for selection this weekend, as the fixtures start to pick up pace.

Gael Givet is set to give the Blackburn back line a boost by returning to action this weekend. The left-back was subbed off at Sunderland due to heart palpitations but has trained ahead of Saturday’s Ewood Park clash with West Brom.

Yesterday’s news that Darren Fletcher is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a bowel condition looks set to further boost the game time of Phil Jones. With Nemanja Vidic also ruled out for the season, the Scotsman’s unfortunate illness also leaves a gap in the champions’ central midfield. Jones’ versatility has seen him play in central midfield of late and with the ability to shift to right-back or centre-half also in his locker, Jones seems to be an integral part of the United first-team over the ensuing months.

Mike Williamson came through 45 minutes of Newcastle’s reserve clash with Bolton yesterday as he steps up his recovery from an ankle injury. Alan Pardew fielded a back-four without any recognised centre-halves at Norwich but Williamson’s recovery, in addition to the possibility of Fabricio Coloccini’s return for the weekend game at home to Swansea, will be a welcome boost over the festive period.

Damian Duff has recovered from a calf problem in time for Fulham’s Europa League game with Odense this evening. Danny Murphy continues to miss out due to an ankle injury and Mark Schwarzer is expected to shrug off a spine problem to take his place between the sticks.

    Right, team reads as:

    Vorm
    Jones/Enrique/Agger/Simpson
    VDV/Silva/Bale
    RVP/Ade/Ba

    Subs: Ruddy/Sess/Dyer/Wilkinson

0.3 in the bank. Used my free already shifting in Ba.

Obvious route in for Nani/Mata would have been VDV, until the comments on page 2 have now left me thinking is it worth taking out Silva for either of them…..

    Thoughts or comments?

Taking out Silva would leave you with no Man city attacking cover which I think would be very risky.

I'm playing pretty much the same team as you this week except Richards instead of Agger. Don't like having no nani or mata but not sure this is the week to lose VDV

I wouldn't say I'm easily influenced at all. Countless others here are pondering the same moves.

Just trying to maximise my points that’s all. Losing one of Silva/VDV could do that.

A front 3 of RVP / Sturridge / Ade, delighted with that.

This is VDV in the last chance saloon, think I may ditch in any case now Ade is on pens. Spurs overkill as I also have BAE.

Ramsey is causing me all kinds of problems.... had to get rid of Hernandez & Bendy last week with my 2 FT's. Wish I hadnt bothered as Moses would have come off my bench!

    Basically, prioritise the following:

    VDV > Nani
    Ramsey > max 7.5m mid
    Kompany > Jones

    Phil Jones

I couldn't talk long enough to compliment this guy on what he has done for us this season. With all of our nagging injuries he has been able to fill in all over the field. As an OOP midfielder now it looks like he is going to keep that spot for a little while with Fletcher coming down with ulcerative colitis. This is actually a really horrible inflammatory disease that you can only put into remission, he is with this disease for life. (Get well soon Fletch).

So with Phil now taking the midfield role a little more permanently (I suspect), we can look forward to seeing a few more assists out of him I think. Although his dribbling down the field looks quite awkward and unskillful, somehow the ball sticks with him haha. He was unlucky to not be within the points in the Wolves game but I expect him to more than make up for this in the coming games. Now he's also scored, I can see this happening more too. Fortunately he hasn't done "an Anderson". 🙂

Basically if you have him, look forward to points 🙂

Been looking at defensive options lately. Everton, Sunderland, Stoke, Liverpool and Tottenham seem to rotate and complement each other well. Low rotation risk and good low price options!

I currently have Shawcross, Enrique, BAE and Turner. My problem is that Turner seems to be out in the cold again. Should i swap him for Bramble, who also is 0.1 cheaper? I do not plan to do any other transfers this GW. I already have two free transfers, so making one this GW won't mess up my 2 FT next GW.

    Turner -> Bramble?

however, if u got silva when he's 9.5, it is not worth ditching him.
the reason whyi ditch him is because there's only 0.2 difference and i can easily get him back when i regret.

From your picks, I don't like Johnson (rotation) and Gower (3 Swan). So, the holy one seems fit the bill. 6.x mid wise, I like the idea to rotate Larsson, Walters, and Sinclair in their good run of fixtures. All penalty taker (if Larsson takes it again).

But as much as I'd want Nani in my team, I don't wanna let go of Larrson. He is value.

I'm planning a strategic move this week but I'm unsure about the financial consequences. I have RVP at a cost of £12.5m and if I swap him this week but want to bring him back in say a couple of weeks time at say his current price £13.2m - will I have effectively lost £0.7m or does my "to spend" figure take account of the profit? I think my team value will increase though that's no good to me if I can't spend it!

If you take RVP out now, you will sell for 12.8m so you will have effectively lost £0.4m if his price remains at £13.2m

If you bought for £12.5m you sell at half of the difference, rounded down to the nearest £0.1m.

          i.e. £13.2m - £12.5m = difference = £0.7m Rounded down to --> £0.3m.

          So you sell at £12.5m + £0.3m = £12.8m.

Need some guidance on my plans for the next few weeks... see if I'm missing something blatantly obvious(besides the horrible lack of Manchester United cover!) Already made my transfer last night of drenthe to Jarvis!
    Team for this week:
    Howard(Vorm)
    Raylor/Enrique/Richards(Shawx/Brown)
    Silva/Mata/Bale/Jarvis(Barfa)
    RVP/Sturridge/Adebayor

    No Transfers in gw17
Jarvis to Walters and Raylor for Evans for gw18
    No transfers for gw19
    Walters for Rodwell for gw20

Obviously this is in the wonderful situation where suspensions and injuries don't happen!!

I was all up for losing Silva but suddenly not nearly as keen, The way Arsenal play and if we could a City reaction he could well pick Arsenal apart.

I would be bringing YaYa in but i'm not so sure that he is going to offer enough, just get the feeling a big Silva haul might not be far off.

I also have VDV and my thinking is that i'd be better off offloading him what with already having Ade.

Wouldn't Stoke that be a bad thing for Yaya (as in they would be able to shut his play down easier) and Huth/Woodgate wouldn't know what to do with Silva.

Repost from Senile Delinquent from a thread a while ago that showed all your options in a nice post!

Vorm Cerny/Kenny 4m perfect rotation all season, MANU at home next but good home fixtures to follow SUN-NOR-WIG – WOL
Vorm Hennesy ………4.5m ………STO –NOR- CHE- LIV
      Vorm Howard……….. 5.5m …….. NOR- SWA -BOL/tot dgw -BLA
      Vorm Friedel………… 5.5m ………SUN- CHE- WBA/BOL dgw -WOL WIG
Vorm Krull ……………4.7m ………SWA- WBA- MUN- QPR- WIG good rotation till gw 22, reasonable fixture but with injuries in defence may have fewer cs
Vorm Al Habsi ……..4.5m ………CHE- LIV- SUN- MANC- EVE
Vorm Guzan ………..4.4m ………LIV- ARS- SWA- EVE to gw 22
Vorm Schwarzer…… 4.9m ……….BOL- MUN- ARS -NEW – not bad 23 onwards for rest of season
Home matches only are shown apart from Tot dgw.
Prices are from last week and may have changed slightly however I can afford any of these

Still none the wiser on who to transfer in this week!

Should I get rid of murphy this week against Bolton at home? Really tempted to keep him. I feel like I either have to make 2 transfers to get nani in or none.
