The impossible has happened. After five long years, Michel Vorm delivered my first penalty save of my Fantasy Football management career. There could be no question – this latest episode had to be dedicated to Swansea’s Dutch stopper.

Ironically, it follows last week’s outing that found me lamenting my cursed luck. Vorm answered my prayer (or moans – Mark) – the monkey is finally off my back, and I can hardly contain my joy during this week’s session.

Elsewhere, the regulars are scattered around discussing the dubious merits of Jonny Evans, talk a hamstrung Van der Vaart, the shifting goalposts of the Fantasy Island Risk and Mark’s quest to win his own Cup competition. The selfish bugger.

Come get some here.

    who to captain this gw?

    vorm
    jones simpson enrique
    nani mata silva bale
    yak rvp ba

ba is obvious choice but i've got this funny feeling that vorm will popup with some double figures yet again...

    thoughts?

You have a lot of good captain picks. If I was you and I had Ba, I'd captain him, obvious or not. Oh, and I have Vorm and right now I have no intention of playing him, let alone handing him the captaincy

    FFS Flavor's of the week

    MATA, NANI

    GW14: Ade, Bale, Baines
    GW15: Ba, Nani, Jones

Looking back it seems the main transfers of GW14 have been largely successful with Baines the only exception. Returns of 2 and 2 doesn't inspire confidence and some may already be looking to get rid, despite strong fixtures coming up.

Do you guys agree that Nani and Mata seem to be the names everyone on here is looking to get in this week? Any other observations are most welcome

I've heard those names over and over again. Got Nani in last week, so that was awesome. Had Mata earlier in the season before he started acclimatising to the PL. It's between him and Silva for me, but I think Silva is on my team for the long haul.

    My team for the weekend:

    Vorm
    McAuley | BAE | Jones
    Silva | Bale | Drenthe | Formica
    Ba (VC) | Rooney (C) | RVP

    Subs: Ruddy, Walters, Brown, Wilkinson

1 FT and 0.9 in the bank

Rooney is the big differential in my mini-league, hoping for good points from him in the coming GWs. Still thinking about whether to capt him or Ba.

    transfer thinking:
    1. Ruddy out for Krul?
    2. Wilko out for Sutton/ JEvans?
    3. Drenthe out for Jarvis/ Larsson?
    4. Keep the transfer

Have to decide now coz am leaving for a short trip, opinions appreciated!

Firstly I think Rooney as captain is a good idea. He usually goes on a run when he starts scoring so that is now. I wouldn't bother captaining Ba, you are playing Vorm so it may not work out. Also Swansea have a solid defense and occasionally can turn it on away from home.

I like the Ruddy to Krul trade but its a good game to play Vorm so you might as well save it

Will keep the armband on Wazza then!

Yup not too keen on the Ruddy to Krul trade as it would use up my remaining funds.. Will ride it out for this GW then. Cheers

Jones and Enrique - because I predict Arsenal will score at least 3 against Man City.

I don't see Aston Villa scoring against Liverpool without Agbonlahor and Bent has been out of touch for ages, so Enrique should be a good choice.

Everytime I bench Vorm, he gets a clean sheet - last week was painful when he saved a penalty as well. Goddamit.

109.0... But I have been a bandwagon chaser, with a lot of hits. Figure they're worthwhile at this stage of the season - 100 mil gets you 2000 points in a season, so first half of season I'm willing to sacrifice up to 50 to get to 110 mil.

Make sure you start getting in Everton and (especially) Spurs players in the run up to thedead game week in week 20 when both teams play twice.

If you can start that week having already aquired for example Bale, Ade, VDV, Drenthe and Hibbert then you should be in for a pretty decent haul

I was at the first game he played for everton by pure chance, my dad got me tickets to the Arsenal-Everton game, and, by chance, i was in the stands above the away fans. So when he went to take the corner kick, all the everton fans started chanting USA. Still gives me chills now hearing those thousand odd toffee fans chanting for him.

Finally decided how I can use my two FT this week: Dyer to Gower, Richards to Jones.

    Leaving my team as:

    Vorm - Ruddy
    Naylor - Jones - Enrique - Simpson - Barnett
    O'Hara - VDV - Nani - Silva - Gower
    RVP - Adebayor - Ba

I have no Chelsea coverage though, and Chelsea up against Wigan is tasty! But I think I'll hold off a couple more weeks until I bring in one of either Sturridge or Mata, and depending on how VDV does this week, I'll straight swap him for Mata or downgrade him to Bale.

What are your opinions on this? First year taking fantasy seriously and I'm chasing a lead at the moment..

I think your team is looking pretty good. Bit Swans heavy but thats fine when they're at home. Jones is a great purchase IMO.

I too will be sticking with VDV for the next game. I'm hoping his poor performance and loss of set-pieces last week was down to him not being fully recovered from injury.

If the players who would have been in those spots score decently in the one game they play that week you could actually lose points by replacing them with players who might only get 2 points in both games (or even less if they cop a yellow card, get reduced gametime etc)...

I already have Drenthe (woe is me), Hibbert, VDV and Ade. If they can stay in my team (which with fixtures looks likely as long as Drenthe actually plays one of these days) then I'll just be bringing in Bale. That will be 5 players all playing twice. And if Everton were a better team with better options then I'd consider making it six.

So IMO I think you should bring in at least one more between now and GW20 and fully reap the rewards of the DGW

You could leave it until the week before and do Larsson>Drenthe and Nani>VDV leaving you with 5 players with 2 games thatweek.

It's only my second season playing FF (though I'm a huge football fan and follow it religiously) and the one thing I learnt from last season is that you absolutely have to take advantage of these DGWs.

All the top players were scoring well into the hundreds on weeks like that whilst I was just naively very happy I had one or two players playing twice that week

Hibbert is a nice cheap option but Jags is better if you can afford.

Random question: Vermaelen or Shotton to start this weekend? Every other week the answer's easy. But this one?

    Rest of team is:

    Vorm (Ruddy)
[Verm or Shotton] Enrique Jones (De Laet)
    Nani Mata Silva Bale (Surman)
    RVP Studge Barndoor

Yeah, gaming it out, I'll be more gutted if I don't play him and he scores, than if I don't play Shotton and he gets a cleanie. Verm away at MCFC it is. Ulp...

    GW16:

    Westwood
    Simpson Enrique Jones
    Mata Bale Sliva Nani
    RVP Sturridge Ba

    Vorm: Brown Richards Ndyer

How is this looking? Took a 4 point hit on it, but
    quite pleased.

Would be very much appreciated if someone could RMT.

Struggling to decide on who to transfer this week. I’ve established that the players that need to be binned from my team are: Wilkinson, Drenthe, Brown, Ramsey and Ward, but no idea who to take out first? Bit worried that I have no United coverage, main ones to try and get in are Jones/Evans, Nani and Rooney. Don't have any Chelsea coverage either. Do I do one transfer this week, and if who would be best to take out/bring in? Or is it worth taking a 4 point hit for anyone?

My team at the moment is:

    Vorm, Krul
    Wilkinson, Ward, Enrique. Simpson, Brown
    VDV, Ramsey, Silva, Walters, Drenthe
    Ba, RVP, Adebayor

I have one free transfer and 1.1 in the bank. Thank you in advance for any replies..

Maybe downgrade Ramsey to someone like Gower and then upgrade Ade to Rooney?

Alternatively you could get out Wilkinson for Evans and VDV for Nani?
