The impossible has happened. After five long years, Michel Vorm delivered my first penalty save of my Fantasy Football management career. There could be no question – this latest episode had to be dedicated to Swansea’s Dutch stopper.

Ironically, it follows last week’s outing that found me lamenting my cursed luck. Vorm answered my prayer (or moans – Mark) – the monkey is finally off my back, and I can hardly contain my joy during this week’s session.

Elsewhere, the regulars are scattered around discussing the dubious merits of Jonny Evans, talk a hamstrung Van der Vaart, the shifting goalposts of the Fantasy Island Risk and Mark’s quest to win his own Cup competition. The selfish bugger.

Come get some here.

A lack of TOT attacking coverage sayeth I. Thou should seekest the Celtic Warrior known as Bale for the wanton strumpet, Drenthe.

He was good last time. Who knows. By the time we see him play........or not, it will be too late to get him in for the DGW. So a real gamble on the cards, and could screw other choices as well.

He just had a training ground bust up with Richards, don't know the details but could spell bad news for his game time. Also Mancini hinted he might not be suited to the big games which Arsenal most definitely is.

          Why do you NEED it?
All you need is players that play each week, if Pilkington has lost his place, get in Rodwell (rotates well with Eagles) or Gower, and Wilkinson > Shotton/Caulker is really not that difficult.
Seems you want to get rid so go for it, but that isn't going to help your ranking.

Been umming and ahhing over my two free transfers all week. Had flirted with the idea of Kompany out to either Jagielka or Walker but ultimately I'm not sure that will deliver me any more points.

Given and Ramsey to Krul and O'Hara

    Decent moves?

I could, but can't help thinking I'd regret losing Kompany and I'm not sure Ramires is worth it, particularly as he's close to a suspension.

So few decent options in the 'Ramsey' price bracket, O'Hara has the fixtures but it's not exactly an earth-shattering transfer!

I've gone for Baines after much deliberation. He did me well earlier in the season (gw2-5) when I targeted his easier fixtures. Hopefully he will again. One can't really ask for better fixtures than he's got up until gw 20. The upcoming dgw also made me go for him. I can see the arguments against too though, but think it's worth it on balance.

I'm really keen to get some Everton coverage, but Baines is the only decent option and he's way beyond my price range. If I had the money for that transfer I'd be straight on it.

If only Drenthe was nailed-on, he'd be my perfect Ramsey replacement.

Agree. For Everton it's basically Baines or nothing, which is annoying as there's a DGW coming up. If I knew Drenthe was guaranteed to start I'd bring him in this week.

Wait for Donovan, just in time for the double gameweek. Hope they play him more central and he's a FF midfielder not a forward. Prob won't be an automatic starter, although he should be the way the rest of the team are playing, but good for a few assists and goals. Prob be fairly cheap buy too.

Baines may not prove to be great value, but it's only a few weeks until the WC (so it can all be sorted out if it goes all wrong) and he has the potential to put in some massive scores. Me may, he may not.

Two things are stopping me from switching Verm to Baines right now.
      1. I'll have nothing left in the bank so won't be easy to get a third Tott player for the DGW
      2. he is on -89% so if he has another 2 pointer he's likely to drop a point soon after

I'm wondering if Brown to Jags isn't a better option

I'd fancy RVP +4 to outscore Rooney or Sturridge this week anyway.

RvP has been good to me but i look at week to week.

if Rooney or Studge look likely to score more then why not do it?

and if i have to shuffle the pack and cook the books to do it (and i'm happy with it) then why not risk it?

FPL has been a bit boring lately so this could be the way forward. all good fun 😀

Because RVP is fixture proof and City will concede, Sturridge/Rooney will have to score a goal with RVP doing nothing to break even.

oh i can see RvP getting one this weekend.

but i can see other forwards getting maybe more.

                food for thought.

Okay then do it? Don't let anyone else stop you.
But, what if it is a low scoring GW with a score of about 30-40 for everyone?
That'd give you about 15-25 points with a 16 point hit, way too risky IMO

I'd love to do RVP -> Sturridge this week. Don't have any Chelsea, and I fancy them to batter Wigan. But, come GW18 I'd need RVP back and I doubt I could afford it.

I suspect it would be the same for you. You'd want RVP back and would have to spend so much to buy him again.

like i said, if it costs more to get him back then it's just a question of managing the finances to re-balance the team.

        points over profit, people!

you'll want to get him back and then you won't be able to, so you won't get his points. points and profit over points.

i have two big hitters in MID.

it won't be such a challenge to ship one (who has an unfavourable fixture) out to accommodate RvP again.

so you wouldn't want to keep as many big hitters as possible? Big hitters come good even in tough fixtures... but you seem to have made your mind up. go for it, drop RVP, but before you do, have a look at the team and points I've got for worrying about value AND points, not just points...

                no mind made up yet.

maybe i've taken too many risks this week to justify the move and it might be a hit too far but the fact that so many people think it's risky might just push my transfer button 😀

You'll lose another 0.5 shipping out Silva so that would only compound the problem. You'll end up with less value in your team and fewer big hitters than your rivals.

                    i finish where i finish.

i don't sensibly tinker with my team, plan four GW's in advance, check H2H or save transfers and worry about snow storms.

don't get me wrong, i like FPL but i won't be kicking myself if i finish 700,000th.

exactly. Rooney and Studge were just examples.

why not play 3-5-2 and rotate your forwards?

buy in the forward with the best fixture that week and play 2 strong up front.

    All,

Really need some advice this week. I’ve had 2 FT burning a hole in my pocket all week but managed to hold off till now.

    Vorm (Foster)
    Jones BAE Simpson (Naylor, Wilkinson)
    Silva VDV Ramsey Walters (Ferguson)
    RVP Rooney (c) Sturridge

I’ve decided to stick with VDV now I’ve held on this long, so my current thinking is:

    Ramsey > O’Hara
    Wilkinson > Jagielka

Seem really boring but would play Jag over Simpson this week.

Any other thoughts? (£0.6m in Bank)

    Cheers!!!!

Every few gameweeks I make a wild, against-the-stream transfer to distinguish myself from the masses and justify to myself that I am indeed an individual. They mostly fail miserably, but I'm intent on keeping it up. So far I've done Ada(success!) Nasri(fail!)De Gea(fail!) and one or 2 more I've blocked from my mind as to prevent emotional scarring.

For my next party trick, I've just brought in Cahill. Who hasn't played well at all this season, nor has he scored in like, forever. Plus Everton aren't in any type of form.
But the double GW, the fact that I know he has inherent class, and a gut feel have made me go for it.
    Vindicate me you Aussie bastard!!
