With some favourable fixtures on the horizon, Mick McCarthy will be in confident mood this festive season thanks to the form of Steven Fletcher. The Scotsman has been hampered with calf and groin injuries this season but a haul of 3 goals in his last two games is indicative of his importance to the Wolves cause.

Fletcher has only started eight games for the Molineux outfit this term but has found the net 6 times, including a consolation in last weekend’s 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford. Big Mick admits Fletcher was subbed off as a precautionary measure at Man United, with home clashes against Stoke and Norwich up next:

We need Fletcher fit and we weren’t going to get four goals to win the game so I thought it was wise to take him off. Fletcher’s been terrific – and prolific – when he’s been fit. That’s why I took him off because I need him to be prolific in the next two games as well.

Though a trip to Arsenal will be anything but straightforward, a visit to Bolton will hold no fear, with the Wolves boss looking at three of those four matches as definitely winnable. Certainly, the home fixtures will have been earmarked as crucial and given Wolves’ recent record of 7 points from a possible 9 in their previous three Molineux matches, there’s reason for optimism.

A recent move back to 4-4-2 may have Jamie O’Hara’s owners on edge but Fletcher’s suitors will look upon the fixtures favourably, regardless of formation- he’s also scored against Liverpool and Newcastle, two of the tightest back-lines in the Premier League thus far.

Priced at 5.9 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and owned by just 1.4%, he could prove a handy differential over the next few gameweeks and a viable alternative to the likes of Yakubu, Daniel Sturridge or Demba Ba in the low to mid-price range. If Wolves are to steer clear of the relegation zone, his contribution will be key over the Christmas period.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Who to play Vorm (new) or Hennessey (STO)? Vorm will surely concede verses Newcastle, but he is super Vorm or Hennessey with the dodgy wolves defence?

    Thinking Hennessey as if I don't play him now I never will

    Krul Ruddy
    Baines Evans Naylor Simpson McAuley
    VDV Walcott Sinclair Moses B.Johnson
    RVP Adebayor Ba

    1 FT 4.5m

    Thoughts on these options, some of them rather punty:

    1) Walcott & Moses/BJ -> Mata & Valencia
    2) Walcott & Moses/BJ -> Nani & Ramires
    3) Walcott & Moses/BJ -> Mata & Yaya
    4) Walcott & Moses/BJ -> Nani & Yaya
    5) Sinclair -> Nani
    6) Sinclair -> Mata

    I kinda like 1 or 2, obviously Valencia & Ramires are a bit punty for different reasons but i quite like the look of them.

    Been suffering from 4pt Transfer Brain Seizures of late. Just realized the pattern. Spend all week agonizing the pros and cons of Option A vs Option B. Open transfer screen and somehow confirm Option C that until that very moment wasn't even on the brain. Usually at the expense of a 4 pt hit and buyer's remorse.

    This week: Brunt, Ward > Bale, Shotton

    so last decision is pick 3 from Walters, Larssssson, BAE, Simpson, Shotton... Any help/ideas?

    Hapoel Tel Aviv vs Legia

    Nothing left to play for in this group, Hapoel are out and Legia through to next round.

    This will be Legia’s last game before the winter break and the players will be looking forward to a rest. They have a couple of players missing: first choice ‘keeper Kuciak, club captain Vrdoljak and defender Komorowki. I would imagine the away manager will field some fringe players and give his first teamers and early break.

    Hapoel have no injuries or suspensions to any key players and I think against a weak Legia and in front of their fans they will win this one.

    Hapoel Tel Aviv @ evens.

    Just having a look at the calender and we are only 2 weeks from the new year and the start of the Wildcard option.

    While there are plenty games in those 2 weeks and good fixtures to get the right players in there are so many matches in a short space of time and you are gonna see heavy rotation of players and the obvious choices of Bale/VDV Nani Silva & Mata may not play as much as people think. Squads will be utilised from now until January for sure.

    Need some guidance on my plans for the next few weeks… see if I’m missing something blatantly obvious(besides the horrible lack of Manchester United cover!) Already made my transfer last night of drenthe to Jarvis!(Yes I know I should have got O’Hara!)
    Team for this week:
    Howard(Vorm)
    Raylor/Enrique/Richards(Shawx/Brown)
    Silva/Mata/Bale/Jarvis(Barfa)
    RVP/Sturridge/Adebayor

    No Transfers in gw17
    Jarvis to Walters and Raylor for Evans for gw18
    Walters for Rodwell for gw20
    WC GW21 -> Evans, Shawx and for Brown for Jones, Simpson and Gabbidon. Howard for Krul, Rodwell possibly out and assess any injuries/out of form players that time!

    Obviously this is in the wonderful situation where suspensions and injuries don’t happen!!

    Would be very much appreciated if someone could RMT.

    Struggling to decide on who to transfer this week. I've established that the players that need to be binned from my team are: Wilkinson, Drenthe, Brown, Ramsey and Ward, but no idea who to take out first? Bit worried that I have no United coverage, main ones to try and get in are Jones/Evans, Nani and Rooney. Do I do one transfer this week, and if who would be best to take out/bring in? Or is it worth taking a 4 point hit for anyone?

    My team at the moment is:

    Vorm, Krul
    Wilkinson, Ward, Enrique. Simpson, Brown
    VDV, Ramsey, Silva, Walters, Drenthe
    Ba, RVP, Adebayor

    I have one free transfer and 1.1 in the bank. Thank you in advance for any replies!

      Yeah you have a few things to sort out. Personally I would wait a week then go VDV/Ramsay/Drenthe > Nani/Bale/low priced mid.

      After that you could do Brown > Evans but unfortunately you may miss the boat.

      Jevans is a massive rotation risk anyway that's why you only pay 4.4 for him. Just have the rest of your defence/5th midfielder as sure starters to cover him.
