Bonanza! With three of our five suggested bets coming in last week, and a fourth on Nani just a back-flip away from paying out, the “Fantasy Flutter” struck gold. After weeks of hitting bets and covering our stake, finally we’re starting to see some real profit. With the £25 return tucked in our back pocket, and Paddy posting up more markets, we shall see if the streak continues or whether our luck is pinched out…
This week Paddy deliver odds on some Flutter regulars, covering all positions on the pitch. Up first is our set-piece-taking, wing-hugging Everton flyer, Leighton Baines. For one of the priciest defenders around, Baines has provided only two goals, one assist and two clean sheets this season, whilst not missing a single minute of pitch-time. His poor individual haul reflects Everton’s uninspiring season to this point, but when the Toffees win, Baines is always in the mix for returns. Weekend opponents Norwich have been bashed around when on the road, and we feel that Baines looks good for some profit in a game of goals at Goodison. We’ll open up our tenner, with £2 on Baines to score from a dead-ball at 11/2.
Swansea’s performance in last week’s clash with Fulham made for good reading for all those (probably a lot of you) that had Michel Vorm in goal. But the comfortable 2-0 result perhaps failed to tell the full story. Although Fulham conceded, Leroy Lita and company never looked truly threatening going forward. Even taking into account their recent injuries, Newcastle seem a good bet to hold firm against the Swans at St James’ this weekend. Paddy have Scout Pick Ryan Taylor to keep a cleanie and Newcastle to win at 21/10; we’ll take that for £3 of our stake.
The Yak is back, and lining up a very favourable fixture at home to the Baggies. Although he had a quieter week, facing off against Martin O’Neil’s Sunderland, Yakubu is still very much on our radar. On the bench as prime budget option in the Scout Picks, we’ll back the Yak to score and Blackburn to win at 3/1 for a quid of our money.
Chelsea’s “number Juan” playmaker (sorry) is away to Roberto Martinez’s struggling Wigan side in the late kick-off on Saturday. Chelsea will be riding a wave of confidence after defeating league leaders Man City at the Bridge on Monday; the Latics look to there for the taking. Juan Mata to assist, and low scoring Wigan to keep off the score sheet, is a massive 6/1. Our £3 stake doesn’t seem quite enough on this, with value written all over it, but we need to save a nugget for our final flutter.
Our regular “who will score the most” market features last week’s winner Wayne Rooney once again, this time at the better price of 13/8. But we’re not going to take that. We’re not even going to take the fair price of 7/4 on Daniel Sturridge on the aforementioned potential goalfest at Wigan. No, in-fact, we’ll be placing our final pound on Demba Ba at 15/8 to hopefully rifle a few past visiting Vorm. Swansea’s fans may have maintained their match-long chant of “Michel Vorm m’lord, Michel Vorm” last weekend, but Ba looks well placed to silence the traveling Swans faithful at St James’ Park.
Paddy’s Money Back Specials
We may have steered clear of the City vs Arsenal clash with the Scout Picks, but Paddy have faced the weekend’s big encounter head-on. They’re offering a money back special, refunding all first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast single bets on the match, if Mario Balotelli or Robin Van Persie scores the last goal.
