FPL Bonus – Gameweek Sixteen

The EA Sports Player Performance Index scores are out and the Fantasy Premier League have now updated their bonus points accordingly. Here’s how the bonus breaks down for gameweek sixteen, with more than a few surprises in store…

Please note, the Aguero assist for Silva’s goal was removed following review. It was adjudged that the City striker did not get a touch on Balotelli’s cross but that the Arsenal defender diverted it into David Silva’s pass. The assists awarded to Mario Balotelli which boosted his EA PPI and saw him claim the two, relegating Pablo Zabaleta back down to one.

          don't get rooney yet. As I posted yesterday, he hasn't done enough to show he is better value than RVP/Sturridge/Ade/Ba - none of those 4 have let us down over the last few gameweeks.

              but you will destroy the core of a good team to get him in. 29k is a very good rank so your core team has served you well to date. don't mess that up just to get one player in.

      make changes one at a time. players I'd get rid of in this order are:

      Dyer
      Barnett
      Sess-onion - will only make you cry.

      Make one change this week because with rotation, you may not be able to field XI otherwise

        I agree with those players to get rid of, and Ben Arfa too potentially ... the problem being it's not possible to get Nani / Rooney in next week just by getting rid of the above which makes me wonder if I can make do with a couple of the above until the WC?

        Rooney / Nani at home to Blackburn and Wigan could be season-changers.

          true, but they didn't exactly score brilliantly at QPR. Last week was a good week for anyone with the pair of them.
          If you're set on getting one of them, make it Nani and do it by downgrading Baines. I think he is a huge waste of funds.

          I had 2 autosubs this week (Raylor/Bale), both unexpected. I don't think you can assume bench players will stay on the bench in the xmas period.

    1x FT, 0.5m in bank.

    A. Wilko/Raylor > Evans
    B. Bale > Valencia (would only lose 0.1m, could bring in again for double GW)
    C. Another option

    I’m leaning toward B as this would allow me to bring in Jones for Raylor next GW. Thoughts?

    The new bonus points system is a joke, I mean 3 pts for Adebayor?! For what??? Van Persie only getting 1 after scoring that absolute peach of a volley against Everton last week was a joke too and Vorm not getting any against Fulham after saving a penalty. The old system wasn't great because the judges seemed to have their favourites (Eagles anyone) but this new system is a pile of shit

      It really is... I was delighted when they scrapped the old system, but this new one has thrown up far more joke BPs, and we're only in December. They should go back to the old one, and just have the pundits give justification for their decisions.

      I asked this question once before (and this is coming from someone new to FPL, so go easy on me if there's an obvious answer), but why have bonus points at all? Why isn't it just points accumulated during the matches? It would be a lot less controversial wouldn't it? I know the anticipation of the bonus points each Monday is another aspect of the game and it generates plenty of discussion, but that isn't why they were introduced surely?

        The answers in the name really, they're bonus points that you get for having the best players in a particular match, they're a constant source of frustration though because for as long as I've been playing there have been dubious decisions, this new system was supposed to fix it but it's even worse, players getting 3bps for coming on for the last 5mins and coring the 4th goal in a 4-0 (Milner) is ridiculous. There' not much we can do about it but it annoys my head!

      I'm concerned VDV won't play, having played almost the full game yesterday. Then again, Chelsea are clearly going to be one of Spurs' main rivals this season, so if VDV can play then I can only imagine that he will play.

      It's not easy this week. What about bringing in Drenthe and then having the rest in the bank to play about with over Xmas?

        Thanks for the replys fellas. Yeah Evans looks fairly nailed on short term. Wes Brown is the 2 point king seems a good call. Have been a Drenthe critic and reckon he got lucky with his assist, but gee saw the shot Ruddy barely saved.. thunderbolt.. will have to monitor next gw or so.. Brown to Evans seems safeish.. Not sure on Kompany to Richards, Richards being injured and all. What's the news on Bale? 50% chance with an ankle sprain? The 1 transfer i don't use rolls over doesn't it.. now for the captain choice..

          Agree actually that Brown to Evans is probably a better plan.

          Drenthe's shot almost broke Ruddy's wrist. it was really nice to see both players complimenting each other after the game.

          I brought in Drenthe this week (for Pilkington), because he surely must start against Swansea (PLEASE GOD).

      I might perhaps be tempted to shift Dyer as he is seeming not quite as nailed on (i might have said Gower, but he only got 45 at the weekend).

      Actually i think in your position id be tempted to shift one of Ward or Brown, probably Ward to another cheap defender, maybe from Swansea, more chance of points than a Wolves defender.

    I've noticed noone is talking about Clint 'Deuce' Dempsey but he is well worth a look in. He is always a goal threat in matches, scores from headers alot and his right peg and takes pens (forgetting the swansea one). I would put him ahead of Mata and maybe even Bale.

      fixtures aren't kind but i reckon he goes alright against the top sides, well he has in the past. Big fan of the Costa Rican though, Ruiz.. could be anything in FPL

    Fratboy, I would honestly consider getting Baines out even this GW.

    I can't see him doing anything. Not on corners (Osman/Drenthe), FKs (Drenthe returns). Vorm to save his penos. What are the odds? 😉

      I have the same Q, though also considering Silva. But will probably go with Ba (in spite of his blank against The Vorm).

        Silva might be rotated. Ba had an excellent game against Swansea, producing many chances. Also heard Villa were shit against Pool, so a tough call.

          Yes, quite, Villa have had some really poor games this season. Worst was when they played at Spurs. But they did only concede one at home to ManU. So... I think I'd favour Ba.
