John Terry suffers a training ground Achilles scare but is expected to be fit for Thursday’s trip to Spurs. Jamie O’Hara is still unavailable for Wolves ahead of tomorrow night’s home game with Norwich, while the injuries continue to mount up for Steve Kean:

Wolves confirmed earlier today that both Jamie O’Hara and Dave Edwards are out of tomorrow night’s game against Norwich. The pair missed the weekend defeat at home to Stoke but O’Hara had initially been expected to be fit for the Canaries game. Given he has averaged over 9 points per game in his last three Molineux fixtures, his loss is a significant blow for both Mick McCarthy and Fantasy managers alike.

The injuries continue to rack up for Blackburn’s under-fire boss Steve Kean. Gael Givet is set for a spell on the sidelines, with the club announcing he is to undergo minor heart surgery, though Kean doesn’t expect his length of absence to be too prolonged. Scott Dann is also out for an estimated period of 6 weeks– the centre-half injured his groin in the process of scoring his side’s equaliser against West Brom and is to undergo an operation. Kean does, however, expect Junior Hoilett to be available for tomorrow night’s visit of Bolton.

Chelsea’s open training session today saw John Terry helped off the pitch after suffering what appeared to be an ankle problem. The club physios have since said he tweaked his Achilles but the Blues skipper is expected to be fit for Thursday’s trip to Spurs. David Luiz and Ramires both sat out training, with the pair having missed the visit to Wigan at the weekend.

The omission of Darren Bent from Aston Villa’s first XI against Liverpool yesterday came as a surprise to many. Bent’s subsequent Christmas shopping trip as his side went down 2-0 raised more than a few eyebrows, though, and led Alex McLeish to insist there has been no falling out between the pair. With Gabby Agbonlahor also out due to suspension, Villa were forced to field Emile Heskey and Nathan Delfouneso up front and never threatened Kenny Dalglish’s side throughout the ninety minutes. Big Eck explained post-match:

Darren had a scan during the week. It confirmed he had a grade one injury, I didn’t reveal it because I wanted to keep things back from Liverpool. You have to understand that. I didn’t want Liverpool knowing our starting line-up. Darren was injured. Bent was in for two hours’ treatment this morning and was told to rest at home. He went home and watched the game but near the end he went out to collect some Christmas presents. End of story.

Johan Djourou limped out of Arsenal’s game against Manchester City yesterday with a groin injury. Djourou was replaced after 46 minutes by Ignasi Miquel and with Arsene Wenger estimating the Swiss international is likely to be out for 21 days, it’s fair to say the Gunners have something of a defensive dilemma right now. Kieran Gibbs has an outside chance of making it for the game at Aston Villa but barring that, Miquel could well continue at left-back, with Thomas Vermaelen moving back to the centre and Laurent Koscielny out right.

How does my team look for GW17??

    Vorm(Given)
    Jones Simpson Kompany Enrique (Ward)
    Drenthe Silva(c) VDV (Walters)
    RVP Sturridge Ba

Should I make any transfers??...I've got 2.5m left in bank...and is it good to have the armband with Silva or any other options?
    Thoughts please??

I'm in a bit of a bind, planning to do Wilkinson > Evans which would leave me with exactly the right amount to do Ba > Adebayor for GW 19.

Problem is if Ade rises in the next week then I won't be able to afford it. I thought about doing Wilko > Naylor which would leave me 0.1 spare, but I don't really fancy doubling up on the swans defence away a Everton.

Need to pull the trigger tonight as Evans and Naylor are both due to rise so do you think it's likely that Ade will rise before 26th Dec.

Simple question fellow esteemed managers of the FFS community...

Can I afford to save a transfer with this higgledy piggledy bunch of misfits with a view to overhauling my pish defence next week:

    Vorm (Foster)
Baines | Simpson | Brown (Naylor, Barnett)
    Silva | Nani | Bale| Walters (Allen)
    RVP | Ad3BPSsor | Ba

I've a serious mancrush on Phil Jones right now, he's a joy to watch and came close to baggin another goal yesterday, very unlucky. Not having him in my team (when I did for several weeks previously) is making it difficult to watch him shine in that United midfield. Saving a transfer would enable me to possibly do Baines & Barnett > Jones & Smalling.

Was thinking Smalling but his price will rise tonight and with other future players also close to a rise, making future plans tricky...have Evans now in the picture...I can wait on him even with his value going up but not on Smalling...so which player do I go for?

Has to be Evans. Showed as a goal threat against QPR and is significantly cheaper. I also have a gut feeling that SAF might prefer him to Smalling at CB if the twins push for a recall at RB. He's the re-incarnation of John O'Shea!

Is Hernandez too much of a risk? I think I need to have some ManU cover, especially as many of my rivals have Nani/Rooney investment in some form. I'm struggling to shoe horn in either to be honest, backed myself into a corner.

I like the little pea a lot when he is playing, and I had planned to let him sit there prior to his injury. He is easier to get into my team than the others. But will he get game time? Am i silly for not looking to bring in Rooney/Nani? Team link in username btw, any thoughts appreciated.

I suppose I could ask the same question about Valencia, is he just a poor man's Nani in the same way Chica is to Rooney.

I can see your point, maybe if you had either Rooney or Nani now, taking a punt on Hernandez or Valencia might pay off.

So do you think Nani is my best option? I did think about dropping RVP, in the same sense that it might be the right time (see Rooney at start of season, Drogs as start of last season). That would just be a FT, but could back fire. Ahhh such a mess.

No apology needed, I take some sort of sick pleasure from my midfield's hideousness.

I know my defence is weak but i had a somewhat expensive defence and got very little cleansheet rewards so i’m opting to just get definate starters there.

    Howard, Ruddy
    Evans, Simpson, Wilkinson, Boyata, McAuley
    Mata, Silva, Nani, Bale, Dyer
    Sturridge, Adebayor, RvP

1FT, 0.0 in the bank. Any suggestions?

      V similar to my team.

      Dyer => Romeu?
      Wilkinson => Shotton?
      Boyata => Caulker

I don't like your keepers much - I'm guessing they rotate so changing 1 prob means changing both - which is too much hassle.

Yeah. They rotate well but have gotten me **** all points so far. May as well keep Howard for the DGW though. All good transfers suggestions, it's just hard to know which ones to do first.

Not a bad shout, would rather a cheapie though until WC as i don't like playing 4 at the back. Would normally start Enrique/Jones/Evans

The key points from Gameweek 16 are:

    1. Sturridge is really the only Chelsea player that you can depend on for your fantasy premier league team and is the best value considering he plays for a top 4 side, is €7 million mark and delivers week in & week out.

    2. Everton are a better side with Drenthe in the team and the dutchman and Baines are really the only Everton Coverage you want. Don’t forget thedouble gameweek in gameweek 20 that see’s them play Bolton & Tottenham.

    3. Expect more goals from Holt and Morison with Morison possibly the best value Striker in the Fantasy Premier League.

    4. Clint Dempsey is in a good run of form and should now be on your watchlist along with
    Bryan Ruiz.

    5. Gomez keeps on scoring for Wigan, he is a good squad player but he is too unpredictable for Fantasy Premier League. Keep an eye on him for the last few Gameweeks as if Wigan are scrapping for points he will be key.

    6. Suarez is the most unlucky striker to play in the Premier League, don’t be surprized to see him go on a scoring run.

    7. Phil Jones looked to have cemented his place in the Man Utd midfield for the time being – worth considering and J Evans is only €4.5 million. Both players could benefit from a run of fixtures with clean sheet potential and both players had significant chances against QPR so don’t be surprized to see them score over the festive period!

Good summary if events. I agree with all of that except maybe the Everton double GW isn't as appealing as it sounds. If the games goes the way I think at WHL, the Everton players may only walk away with 2 points a piece plus whatever they get against Bolton which could be nice. Don't think Baines is good value for money at all but I do like Drenthe and boring Moyes needs to play him week in week out.

    GW17 team:
    Vorm
    Brown Simpson Enrique Jones
    Drenthe Silva(v) Nani
    Ba RVP(C) Adebayor

    Given BAE Walters Dyer

1FT, 2.9 in bank. Pretty sure I should 1, but not much faith in Brown. So do I:

    1 – Save FT
    2 – Brown–>Evans/Gabbidon
3 – Dyer —->Shelvey/sub 5M mid (to play in place of Brown)
4 - Play Walters over Brown
