With the dust barely settled from the weekend’s action, Gameweek 17 is upon us immediately and we’ve still the small matter of announcing the Round Five fixtures for the Paddy Power Cup V. Before that however, let’s take a minute to reflect on the results from Round Four, which can be viewed right here. The headlines…

A brand new name will be etched onto the mythical Cup, as reigning champ Ninja_Fit_Saints become the fourth and final former winner to meet his match. Mayhey Kid took the scalp 56 – 39, to complete the four-week demise of the Cup royalty.

There’s no stopping Mark though, who dispatched Hassyg 72 – 55 booking his place in the last 64. That score of 72 earned the Scout leader a bronze medal for the week, bettered only by Dyslexia United‘s 73 (- 32 Tommytabs123) and Milton Millieiscos‘ top-scoring 77 (- 46 F.Y.F.B).

Now, onto the fifth round draw… The 32 fixtures are available to peruse right here.

The highest-ranked fantasy manager left in the competition is non other than Der-Hammer95, sitting a hugely impressive 356th overall. He comes up against s4petah, who beat the round three top-scorer at the weekend.

Mark’s fine run looks set to continue, as he has drawn the lowest-ranked manager left in the competition, Mighty Manchester.

Good luck to all 64 participants, and we’ll bring you the results and subsequent fixtures in plenty of time before the Boxing Day Premier League games.

          So, in order to get more players playing, you are transferring out Mata (who has started every single game since his debut) and Bale (who is nailed on to start and play 90 minutes when fit, which I have no doubt he will be for Chelsea, and if not, then definitely for Norwich) for Drenthe who has started what? 2-3 times this season and VDV who will no doubt be rotated over Christmas with his dodgy hammy, and when he does play he barely completes over 70 minutes.
          Strange thinking, really.

      Adebayor is the form striker in FPL and second behind Vermaelen overall, with an average of 8 in the last 5 games, he's scored 8 goals, 6 assists and got 16 bp's for an average of 6.8 points per game..
      Suarez has played 117 more minutes, but has scored 19 less points, with only 5 goals, 3 assists and 13 bp's for an average of 4.3 points per game.
      So...why!?

        Tottenham have slowed down of late. No team plays in the EPL and stays that in form for the whole season, Bale could be out and is vital to the team, the heartbeat. They are feeling a little more pressure and I'm not sure they will beat Chelsea which will only expand on that pressure.

        Liverpool on the other hand seem to be finally opening up. They are possessing the ball well, and learning how each other play. Suarez WILL score goals....no1 can say he is a bad striker...and I am just as skeptical as the next person due to his lack of scoring...yet if you watch his games he is truly getting unlucky.

        Fantasy is about staying ahead of the curve....do I put Suarez...against the 2 of the worst (IMO) teams in the EPL right now....ahead of Ade (the in-form striker) vs mediocre but tough opposition?

          Suarez can't finish for shit, I had him for way too long thinking 'okay he has a nice fixture and is bound to score, he looks dangerous each week' and over and over he could not finish. I wouldn't buy him back for 7mill, he doesn't score points, simple as that.
          He isn't unlucky, he can't be unlucky for what? 11 months or however long he has been playing for Liverpool.
          Bale will play vs Chelsea, and if he doesn't, he will be back the week after. Tottenham have hardly slowed down, they were without Bale and Lennon against Sunderland and Adebayor still had a few chances, and he was robbed of a penalty and an offside goal, so he could have easily had a hattrick.
          Suit yourself, I don't care, go for Suarez...lol.

    Mata is proving a bit of a conundrum for me... I have sturridge for Chelsea cover & would like to squeeze vermaelen in.

    Is Mata really worth the £10m price tag?? Walters/Larsson/Sinclair admittedly are lightyears behind Mata in footballing ability... but in fantasy terms look like they could produce similarish returns for a good price saving

      Sturridge is all the Chelsea you need right now imo. Mata's great but I don't see him as worth the money when Chelsea are so up and down and he often gets hauled off on 60 mins. Too many good options in the midfield right now to justify his pricetag. I'll be getting Sturridge in for Yak and saying goodbye to Mata next week.

      same situation.
      trying to squeeze verm in but do't know who to dwngrade for the fund.

      i think mata is still a keeper.
      walters have 2 nice home match coming soon though.
      mata have 3 home match out of 4 matches coming, and is FUL, AVI and SUN. too risky to miss him

      i also have sturridge, but i think mata will always assist and it worth the price.

      I swapped mata out after captaining him last week. But I really think he is not providing the returns his price justifies. If you don't have bale. maybe consider dropping Mata for him. The comming weeks will see tot improve without any european hangover to worry about.

    Folks, is there a way to know the deadlines to make changes in the team for the next GWs?

    In FPL I see only the next GW.

    I am interested especially for deadline for GW 20, where is only one day between GW 19 and 20.

    I assume that deadline for GW 20 will be Jan 2 14:30. Am I right? Is somewhere a list of deadlines?

        Yeah first for the season actually.

        He had a knock and is probably likely to get fewer minutes. Reflected in his low odds to score. All defenders are more likely to get a CS than Bale is to score. Apart from Enrique wich is 1/2 to get a CS, the rest are favourite to get atleast one goal-

        Thats my reasoning, sounds ok? =P

          I'd play him over all 5 of your defenders to be honest.
          Bale will either play 90 minutes or not play at all, in which case one of your defenders would come on.

            Problem is arry is very little spesific about Bales injury. Dont he know there are fantasy managers out there who need to be informed about the issue?!

        i know EVE have been poor going forwards but SWA have not exactly been great on the road. Super Vorm can't "save" them every week.

        i think EVE are due a few and Naylor is on the receiving end.

    Ward, Ben Arfa, Shelvey.

    I'd go for Ben Arfa & Shelvey if I knew they were going to start but if they both come off the bench for 15 mins it's pretty poor.

        Unless Ward is played OOP (either up front or on the wing) he has a greater potential to only score 1 pt than any one.

        Aside his goal - playing LW v Wigan - he has averaged exactly 1 pt per game since GW4 and he's played 90 mins in every game!

      They usually come quite late for midweek games, I assume Mark has to work all day so he does them when he gets home.

      To be honest, I don't know what Mark does these days as its Winter and he never wears me anymore 🙁
