Early reports are suggesting that Rafael Van der Vaart could be out until the New Year with further hamstring problems.

The Dutchaman was replaced at half-time in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea with the suggestion that Van der Vaart had aggravated his hamstring once again. This was later confirmed by Harry Redknapp in his post-match comments.

“He just seems to have a hamstring problem all the time. He is a great player but we need to keep him fit.”

The BBC article reports that, when quizzed whether Van der Vaart would be missing beyond the end of 2011, Redknapp replied…

“Yes, it looks that way.”

Presumably scans of the injury will follow, with a full prognosis hopefully on offer well before Tottenham’s visit to Norwich on December 27. Right now however, Van der Vaart’s involvement in that game, and even Tottenham’s double gameweek fixtures with West Brom and Everton on January 3 and 11, currently look in doubt.

Still claiming over 10% ownership in the Fantasy Premier League, Van der Vaart will surely suffer heavy sales in that game. His price dropped below his initial value to 9.9 only this gameweek; we can expect a further decline if a term of absence is confirmed.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Another Redknapp criticism - he's too eager to rush players back from injury, which often results in them getting injured again.

van der Vaart is a prime example of this.

Not really, as I fully expect them to crumble in the new year.

They've been fortunate enough to have all their players enjoy good runs of form in one go. When their more inconsistent/temperamental players (Adebayor, Bale, Lennon, etc) start to dip, they won't be able to keep pace.

Their team is set up in such a way that a few injuries and they are screwed. That's more likely than a mass loss of form imo.

    Quick question.

a – Baines to Agger, Ramsey to Nani andKlasnic to Sturride. or b – Baines to Shotton/Caulker, Ramsey to Nani and Klasnic to Ade

Both are 8pt hits. Too rash?

Ade doesn't look good lately...Bale put it on a plate for him today. He is going into dumb challenges and not looking very sharp around the box. I think there are good cheap striker options these days

Honestly, playing this for the past few years I've learned that point hits rarely work out. There's a reason you put together the team you have- you have to trust your players regardless of fixtures sometimes. You never know, Nani could end up doing nothing vs Wigan, Stoke could concede, and Ade could fail to score. Meanwhile, Baines could score, Ramsey could score, and Klasnic could score. Really not worth it

Well i have a strong feelings Ramsey won't do owt as he hasn't had a points hauling ages. Nani. is. needed right now I think in the same way RVP was needed a whole ago.

Imo points hits can work out if they are for longer term changes. For example it seems having Baines taking up a lot of cash isn't a good idea due to more lucrative players else where. Drastic times and all that, I'm doing poor in my leagues and need to do something.

        Rubbish.

        Nani is needed.
Ramsey is not delivering - and has not been for a while.
Klasnic is useless and can be upgraded very easily.
Baines is not delivering proper value.
        Mata's value is questionable.

There's a lot that could change, in my opinion... If you were going to do it, I'd go for B - I hesitate to take 8 point hits, but take 4 point hits pretty often and it seems to work out.

    repost

ok folks help me out here

    Team as it stands

    Vorm (Westwood)

    BAE, Brown, Jones

    Bale, Silva, VdV, Nani (c)

    Ba, RvP, Yak

0.7 in bank 2 frees, what to do?

    a) VdV ➡ Surman and Yak ➡ Rooney

    b) VdV ➡ Valencia and Yak ➡ Sturridge or another striker for 8.4 or less (maybe super Mario?)

am leaning towards b on the basis of I avoid having 2 cheap mids forcing me to play 3 at the back. I want to Ba - Studge in GW19, but I still have to replace Yak, if I get Studge this week, I'll still have to replace Ba next week.

Why the resistance to three at the back? It's been established that CS's are a scarcity.
Get seven attacking players on the go, man!

who me? I have no resistance to 3 a the back, I prefer it, hence why I don't want 2 cheap mids as it'll force me to play 4 at the back. I think I've decided on b, it's just which striker I pick

suddenly realised why you said that. I meant, forcing me to play 4 at the back, not 3 at the back.

I agree. I can't see how he was concussed as he played on for a fair while afterwards. Equally, unless he's harder than granite, I don't reckon he's got a fractured cheekbone.

And SAF doesn't have enough defenders to rest him.

    Evening gents,

I want to avoid a drunken transfer this evening but my hand is being forced by the above news.

I own Rooney and Jones as my Man U Coverage, My only Spurs coverage is VDV.

Should I do Jones > Evans and VDV > Nani and get on Uniteds hot fixtures or just VDV > Bale.

I have two free transfers this week.

    Thanks lads

Just do VDV to Nani. Wait for more news on Jones. If he's only out for a short time he's worth hanging onto.

My god how appealing is this 8 point hit..

Jones, Baines, O'Hara, Yakubu -> Evans, Enrique, Bale & Sturridge

Jones only suffering minor injury is a spanner to the works though, surely he will at least miss the next game though?

Had flashes but overall not great. Being on FKs and corners he's always got an assist chance though. Could've certainly had a couple if Ramires and Sturridge hadn't missed sitters.

Interesting. Haven't seen much of him, name rings a bell now you mention it though.

Sandro is probably in Harry's good books again after tonight so he's a no-go. Not keen on Tiote at all, so this lad if he's any use mightn't be bad for 8 million.

We've been linked with him for a good couple of years.

I remember he was the other player in the Argie under 21 world cup winning side (along with Lionel Messi) who was considered to be a top talent. He's been at Anderlecht for a significant period now though, I thought maybe his development had stagnated.

Quick question for people with price rises/falls experience:

If Jones is on 81% on Fiso atm, is it likely he will fall tonight?

I really want to wait until Fergies press conference tomorrow to see how long he will be out if at all, but I can only afford to buy him back if I sell him before a price drop!
