Early reports are suggesting that Rafael Van der Vaart could be out until the New Year with further hamstring problems.

The Dutchaman was replaced at half-time in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea with the suggestion that Van der Vaart had aggravated his hamstring once again. This was later confirmed by Harry Redknapp in his post-match comments.

“He just seems to have a hamstring problem all the time. He is a great player but we need to keep him fit.”

The BBC article reports that, when quizzed whether Van der Vaart would be missing beyond the end of 2011, Redknapp replied…

“Yes, it looks that way.”

Presumably scans of the injury will follow, with a full prognosis hopefully on offer well before Tottenham’s visit to Norwich on December 27. Right now however, Van der Vaart’s involvement in that game, and even Tottenham’s double gameweek fixtures with West Brom and Everton on January 3 and 11, currently look in doubt.

Still claiming over 10% ownership in the Fantasy Premier League, Van der Vaart will surely suffer heavy sales in that game. His price dropped below his initial value to 9.9 only this gameweek; we can expect a further decline if a term of absence is confirmed.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What are peoples thoughts on Swanseas chances of getting a clean sheet next week at home to QPR? Thinking of bringing in Caulker

I'd say they were pretty strong. QPR are unpredictable but Swansea just dominate the ball at the Liberty - Rangers will have their work cut out carving anything out. As cleanies go, it's a good bet and at 3.9, Caulker is a great option.

Yip. Could go b) and get in Enrique after the double, but Enrique's price is steadily rising. OR bring in a) now, and swap Enrique-BAE for the double when Liverpool are away to ManC (I think).

Can't complain Bernard, 2 free transfers and the only one that makes any sense is Brown-Evans, and that doesn't really make any sense! Or Wilkinson-Shotton/Caulker, dull snore zzzz. Liking Evans seeing as he seems fairly likely to play for now.

I was terrified I had loads of dropped players and injuries but things are a little better now 🙂 R Taylor, Eagles, N Taylor and Shorey all have to go soon though!
But you're right. Rearranging defenders is so boring... I just want more players that score!

Rooney and Aguero are both sought after but too expensive baring in mind RVP is consistently combusting as C material and the lack of cheap MFers. Meanwhile Ba, Ade, Sturridge are bringing home the bacon as are expensive defenders.

It's going to be interesting how many people do the inevitable VDV to Bale move before the next deadline. However, I think they could be missing a trick as Valencia looks an even better over the next two, irrelevant of whether they own Nani or not.

Having said that, Bale could have a field day at Carrow against no CS Norwich, but I'd still fancy Valencia to score really well over the next two.

Opinion's for next GW appreciated. Have 2FT and .4 in bank. Team is:

    Vorm
    Jones, Verm, Enrique
    Silva, Mata, Nani (vc), HBA
    RVP (c), Ade, Ba

    Krul, Naylor, Walker, Dyer

If Jones is ok I'm thinking Dyer (inj) to Surman, saving 1FT and using it to get Drenthe in for HBA in GW19 ahead of the DGW. Only point of the Surman transfer is to get rid of Dyer and raise a little bit of cash. Surman will sit on the bench and probably go in Jan wildcard (hopefully after a price rise).

If Jones is out for a while then I'll sell him for Evans and get someone like Walters in for Dyer.

    repost

ok folks help me out here

    Team as it stands

    Vorm (Westwood)

    BAE, Brown, Jones

    Bale, Silva, VdV, Nani (c)

    Ba, RvP, Yak

0.7 in bank 2 frees, what to do?

    a) VdV ➡ Surman and Yak ➡ Rooney

    b) VdV ➡ Valencia and Yak ➡ Sturridge or another striker for 8.4 or less (maybe super Mario?)

am leaning towards b on the basis of I avoid having 2 cheap mids forcing me to play 4 at the back. I want to do Ba – Studge in GW19, but I still have to replace Yak, if I get Studge this week, I’ll still have to replace Ba next week.

Well Well Well... Many yellow and red faces in my team are down to just Jones and Dyer. Hope we will get a good news from SAF's conference today.. 😀

If he was really out for weeks, who would you think the best replacement?

A: Vermaelen ... WOL, QPR, ful, swa ... Two home games to come. He seems to be 2nd striker to RvP.
B: Smalling ... WIG, BLA, new, BOL ... Very high chance of CS.
C: Huth ... AVL, WIG, bla, liv ... He's getting form and goal again.
    D: Walker/BAE ... nor, swa, WBA+EVE, WOL ... DGW coming.

      B. but I would prefer Evans. I will be keeping Jones however, it sounds like its just superficial and is only doubtful for the Wigan game

the price of these defenders are very diferent but if you are asking purely who will score the most points over the next 4 gameweeks........

      Vermaelen......by quite a margin.

I have Evans, Enrique, Naylor, Simpson to play. Go straight to D could save me a transfer to get DGW players. That's my logic.

Who'll score more over the next 2 GWs, Adebayor or Ba?

I can see Spurs scoring at least 3 against that Norwich defence, wondering if it's worth going against the grain and swapping Ba for Adebayor?

Well i can't really sell Sturridge or RVP with 4 homes games coming up can i?!

Ba on the other hand has - bol liv MUN. I know Ade has 2 away fixtures also but i can't help thinking they are gonna batter Norwich's goal

Yeah it's just trying to look for the ultimate 3 really. As i already have Sturridge (and obviously RVP) it's just Ba vs Adebayor for me as opposed to Ba vs Sturridge for you this GW. Adebayor at Norwich screams points to me

Now I can rest easy as I seamlessly transfer in JEvans and possibly Smalling too. How things can change.

Mata was mostly ineffective. He had one great shot that Friedel blocked directly to Sturridge who hammered it over the bar. Other then that, he had a goal which was more a testament to Ashley Cole's wing play. Ade had a really good game. Could have scored 2.. the finish was again due to a brilliant bit of play from Bale as usual.

Moses would be good. Seems to be doing well in the new formation. Gower seems to be playing half games and Reo-Coker is a DM. Surman is another possibility but Nowrich are a bit unpredictable with their lineups

No not those players. I would go for Moses as he is doing well in the new formation. Surman could be another option but a little riskier as its hard to predict the norwich lineup
