He tops the Captain Poll, despite real concerns that his pitch time will be cut by a concerned Arsene Wenger, looking to wrap Van Persie’s formerly fragile limbs in cotton wool. We’re confident he’ll get some minutes however, and with the chance to wipe the smile from Alan Shearer’s face, surely QPR will let Van Persie walk a few in? You never really know with Neil Warnock.
Tonight’s Fantasy Premier League deadline is just over an hour away and, following that, Liverpool and Newcastle get the gameweek under way under the Anfield lights. At last the Christmas telly improves.
