While Chelsea’s run of upcoming fixtures has many a Fantasy manager eyeing up the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata, we’re going to throw another hat in the ring this morning – John Terry.

There’s no doubt Terry is a costly option at the back. Coming in at 7.5, he’s the third priciest defender in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) but he’s justified that so far, producing 80 points, joint-top scoring defender with Man City’s Vincent Kompany; all this despite chalking up just four clean sheets this season.

With four goals to his name after 18 appearances, Terry has already equalled his top-scoring campaign for the Blues and has found the net as many times as Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres combined. His game seems to be perfectly suited to this season’s bonus points system, too; he ranks at the top for defenders with 14 and has picked up the maximum bonus in three matches. The Chelsea captain has also proved capable of returning substantial points hauls, picking up double-figures on three separate occasions, a feat bettered only by Frank Lampard for Andre Villas-Boas’ side.

The Blues skipper has been top of the Watchlist rankings for Defenders over the past two weeks now and further analysis of his stats- particularly in comparison to Sturridge – makes for interesting reading. While many may baulk at the idea, it’s worth noting that Sturridge is priced at 7.4 and has returned 82 points (also including 14 bonus), with both players’ tallies almost identical. With cut-price forwards such as Steve Morison and Heidar Helguson proving strong value options up top, there’s room for manoeuvre if Fantasy managers wanted an alternative to the likes of Leighton Baines or Thomas Vermaelen at the back.

Along with Ashley Cole, Terry is the only player to have seen every minute of his side’s campaign thus far – there’ll be no substitutions or rotation when it comes to his game time, a key factor worth considering as the fixture list continues at a hectic pace.

With a run of five games that reads (AVL, wol, SUN, nor, swa) the potential for plundering the points is clearly there and if Terry can continue on the goal trail and grab a clean sheet or two along the way, he could well prove a handy acquisition over the next few gameweeks.

i think people forgetting that Man U can barely afford to rest midfielders right now..
giggs to start his third game in 10 days?? Valencia playing defence..possibly Carrick too..

if united had a full deck...it would be more obvious that some players could be rested in defence and midfield but with the injury situation that looks unlikely..

upfront there is berbatov, hernandez, wellbeck, rooney-- many options but not right now-- elsewhere
      !!

We may see Eziekel at CB and Jones at RB. Evra needs a blow soon too. Don't think we''l see Valencia at RB if Hoilett is good to go, too quick and Jones would know him best. Carrick would probably playy CB, isn't that where he started last match? And who are the muppets saying Rooney will play midfield? They should stop it and probably don't have him. I can see Welbeck or probably Berbs playing midfield...Hernadez is probably the odd man out this week. I would sell if I was still dumb enough to be paying his wages (cue the chicharito brace now...).

I think West Brom will be buzzing after holding City so they might get a bit complacent. If they do then I reckon we might sneak a win.

Then again, if Ginge plays Heitinga and Neville in the middle I don't see how we're ever going to score cause Saha & Cahill certainly won't. No creativity whatsoever..

Rumours going around that Ginge might play McFadden.

He will play McFadden, the muppet!!

Word is that Cahill has been dropped; they keeps saying this but I believe it now. There was a serious uproar with the 6-3-1 formation he fielded, Neville was hideous. Is there a chance he will play McFadden (replacing Cahill) and Saha together? The peeps are screaming for Barkley there, but that is forum talk that will never happen, they also would like to see Osman which could be likely, but he seems too light in the ass for me. Thoughts?

Not sure about light in the ass but here's my tuppence 😀

If Anichebe, who is also a muppet, was fit then Saha would be dropped to prove a point. Vellios is a bit inexperienced to play the lone man and Stracqualursi is just shite.

McFadden came on against Sunderland and with 3 games for us over the next 11 days or so I wouldn't be surprised if he started one of them - possibly Bolton.

We're all dying to see this formation..

            ----------------------Howard-------------------

Agree 100 on the alignment, Saha has been getting a lot of stick, but he has been getting shite service for sure. Stracq is horrible, I'm frustrated by Moyes just by owning one and maybe two of his players...I can imagine the rageof you and other toffee's the most comedic banter was after the Osman toe stub. I honestly don't see Rodwell coming back until the January buzzards have cleared.

    Looking at the WC, there is only a few changes I would make;
Ruddy, Simpson, N.Taylor, Vermaelen out. At the moment I can afford the players in by 0.2, with one of the players I am looking at getting in looking like dropping. If I can't afford it I'll downgrade Moses.

And Vorm should consider himself lucky that I prefer Senderos + Shawcross/Shotton rotation as opposed Schwarzer + Sorenson.
That said, after the first 2-3 GW's after WC, Vorm and Schwarzer rotate perfectly really.

I might go Bale > Demspey
But I don't see why Bale and Adebayor won't keep outscoring people at similar prices.
After the DGW they have WOL mci WIG until WC.
Then they have Liverpool and United after that until the end of the season where I wouldn't be confident of having them.
Chelsea and Arsenal don't provide much of a defensive challenge and I see both those games being relatively high scoring..

Hibbert's a good shout. Never thought I'd ever say this but right now he's probably our best & most consistent defender. Drenthe is too much of a hogger to let Baines flourish.

Bit unlucky with Evans but if you can afford to get Jones in then I'd suggest that.

Sorry to be off topic......but.... I've got the hunch that roon will maul blckburn and rvp may get the rest. With all this being said would I be an idiot to trade out rvp for roon and make him capt ? Trading out the man at the top of the capt poll sounds scarey

Bit of a one week maneuver, and a few United fans seem to think Rooney will be in midfield this week due to defensive woes.
I considered it, but that, along with the fact I won't be able to afford RVP the next week which I will inevitably want to do, I decided against it.

Alreet lads. I've posted this question several times on here but had no reply. Please help.

Is there a bug with the email notification when there has been a reply to one of your comments? When I tick the box, the only times that I get notified of a reply, is if I reply to one of my own comments!! Is this supposed to happen? Is it just me? Or is it a bug that they are working on ironing out? This is really starting to spoil my enjoyment of the site (a little), as I have to spend hours searching for old comments if I want to see if anyone has replied. Also, when I search for my comments, it doesn't show any replies. Is that normal?

    Thanks for your time

Email FFS about it. You shouldn't need to check your old comments though since you will only get replies in the first 15 minutes or so.

I tried but gmail didn't recognise Mark@FFScout_Mark. Is this the correct address? I would have thought that if you could get notifications of replies to old comments, then it would keep the thread going. Especially if its an interesting topic that somebody reading a few hours later has an opinion on.

Got a hard time picking my team this week. Evans, Jones and Caulker flagged and not comfortable starting Brown.

Thinking of shipping either Brown or Evans. What do you think? And what are the best cheap options in defence short term?

    Shotton..?

In the same boat. I'm considering Hibbert. Good fixtures coming up (inc. DGW) and although Everton haven't kept many clean sheets, they haven't conceded that many goals. They normally come good after Xmas as well.

Same situation. I have Evans Jones and Huth. Might do Huth to BAE. Was probably doing it next week anyway. Depends if Ba starts, I'll punt Ba for somebody if he's out and risk starting a defender short.
