While Chelsea’s run of upcoming fixtures has many a Fantasy manager eyeing up the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata, we’re going to throw another hat in the ring this morning – John Terry.

There’s no doubt Terry is a costly option at the back. Coming in at 7.5, he’s the third priciest defender in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) but he’s justified that so far, producing 80 points, joint-top scoring defender with Man City’s Vincent Kompany; all this despite chalking up just four clean sheets this season.

With four goals to his name after 18 appearances, Terry has already equalled his top-scoring campaign for the Blues and has found the net as many times as Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres combined. His game seems to be perfectly suited to this season’s bonus points system, too; he ranks at the top for defenders with 14 and has picked up the maximum bonus in three matches. The Chelsea captain has also proved capable of returning substantial points hauls, picking up double-figures on three separate occasions, a feat bettered only by Frank Lampard for Andre Villas-Boas’ side.

The Blues skipper has been top of the Watchlist rankings for Defenders over the past two weeks now and further analysis of his stats- particularly in comparison to Sturridge – makes for interesting reading. While many may baulk at the idea, it’s worth noting that Sturridge is priced at 7.4 and has returned 82 points (also including 14 bonus), with both players’ tallies almost identical. With cut-price forwards such as Steve Morison and Heidar Helguson proving strong value options up top, there’s room for manoeuvre if Fantasy managers wanted an alternative to the likes of Leighton Baines or Thomas Vermaelen at the back.

Along with Ashley Cole, Terry is the only player to have seen every minute of his side’s campaign thus far – there’ll be no substitutions or rotation when it comes to his game time, a key factor worth considering as the fixture list continues at a hectic pace.

With a run of five games that reads (AVL, wol, SUN, nor, swa) the potential for plundering the points is clearly there and if Terry can continue on the goal trail and grab a clean sheet or two along the way, he could well prove a handy acquisition over the next few gameweeks.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Both are good but a bit risky. RVP should be better, but Wenger may bench him that he may end up just play for 20 to 30 mins. Rooney was a sub last match means he will start this time, but he may be deployed at mid-field.

Forget DGW players. Suarez ban paves the way for Andy Carroll to shine.

And could there be a better fixture than home to his former club?

1 goal guaranteed. 2 goals likely.

Oh, the 20% one is open for those that qualify after GW22. Average was 42 last week meaning a score of 42 + 20% = 50.4 or 51 would be needed to qualify for that round. Qualifying in GW20-22 will get you entry.

posted this on previous page...it got a little lost at the bottom...might help, its another opinion anyway:

      seasons greetings gentlemen

What are people’s thoughts on J Evans? United were coasting at half time against Wigan and Evan’s substitution could have been precautionary, with him picking up an early yellow, particularly with his red card against City still fresh in Fergie’s mind. He did a similar substitution on Evra, when he picked up an early yellow against Swansea.

Additionally, unless their are connective tissue complications, muscular injuries to the gastrocnemius and soleus (main ‘calf’ muscles) usually heal quickly, particularly in athletes with good nutrition and medical (physio) treatment.

All in all, I think he might be fit to play, if not this weekend then certainly for United’s next match…what are people’s thoughts?…keeping or transfering?

IMO he is 75% likely to play in the next match

Additionally, unless their are connective tissue complications, muscular injuries to the gastrocnemius and soleus (main ‘calf’ muscles)

i really think its fergie playing mind games evans will start with rio and jones in midfield again he always at this stuff i swear hes on here laughing at us trying to predict what he will do he has a evil mind does fergie lol

just means that the main belly of the calf muscles have a much more voluminous blood supply. tendons and ligaments don't have as good a supply and when an injury occurs the body creates more capillaries at the site of the lesion, this is much more pronounced in muscles than tendons or ligaments and results in faster healing

"We don't have much change," updated the boss. "Obviously injuries to the defenders are quite a concern now, with Jonny Evans taken off at half-time [on Monday]. We're hoping Phil Jones will be fit, there's possibly an outside chance that Rio Ferdinand will get on the bench. Other than that, we're the same."

hey guys i'm really stuck in a pickle here...I have a defensive disaster this GW, only 2 defenders played last week, luckily simpson scored some BPs

    PLEASE HELP!

    Current Setup:

    1) Smalling (Tonsilitis, out at least this GW) Sell Value: 5.2
    2) Richards (Calf inj, hopefully back this GW) Sell Value: 6.1
    3) Caulker (Can't play against Spurs on loan) Sell Value: 3.9
    4) Wilkinson (Hasn't played since injury, no injury flag, maybe fallen out of favour?) Sell Value: 3.9
    5) Simpson (LIV A tough fixture) Sell Value: 4.1

    1 FT

I have 0.4 in the bank, was thinking the most logical move to be Smalling>BAE (set me up for DGW) and hope evans falls in price over next couple of weeks to switch for Wilkinson

      hard to tell

some say he'll start some dont

with moses being wigans danger man pulis may want him back as he is their first choice RB but they just kept a cleanie and theres no news on if hes fit

im in 2 minds whether to start him over drenthe or not

      sorry not much help

I'd start him as against Wigan, Stoke will most likely gain 6 points whilst Drenthe is playing for Everton who don't score many goals.

he wont stay in the team for too long, wilko is a better RB and pennat is a better winger

maybe a good reason to play Shotton this week...Pennant is not as good as Shotton defensively...2 players on the right who can defend might well help to neutralise Moses...plus the dizzying display N'Zogbia put on at the Britt last season may well still be fresh in Pulis's mind

            No?
At 5.2 (or probably 5.1 by then) he will be a fantastic buy though, if he starts regularly.
He has a good goal threat, and when Bosingwa isn't playing, Chelsea have a solid defense.
What he has scored at Bolton is completely irrelevant.

He is not a must have for me but could be a good bargain...he can score goals for a defender, he will be at a better team so more likely to score. Chelsea have not kept many clean sheets which is what you need to balance it with. But at 5.2m I can't see many better alternatives.

    Howdy peeps!

New here – been lurking a while but signed up today

So straight to it … need some advice on my transfers …

    Current team is :

    Szczesny (Al Habsi)
Jones / Brown / Ward (Simpson / Taylor)
Nani / Mata / Bale / Tiote (Muamba)
    Rooney / Ba / Sturridge

    Thinking of subbing out

    1) Nani and Ward for Valencia and Kompany

    OR

    2) Nani and Ba for Valencia and Ade

Madness? I need to get a differential and thinking that Nani will be rested.

    Appreciate any wise words!
