We see out 2011 with a programme of seven Premier League fixtures, after Gameweek 19 got under way last night with a 3-1 win for Liverpool over Newcastle. The Dugout Discussion opens for the final time this year, and the incoming team news from Old Trafford suggests that a certain Scot has begun his birthday celebrations a tad early…

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Carrick, Evra, Nani, Valencia, Park, Welbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov.

Blackburn XI: Bunn, Lowe, Samba, Hanley, Pedersen, Henley, Nzonzi, Petrovic, Rochina, Formica, Yakubu.

Sir Alex Ferguson, who turns 70 today, names a peculiar looking side for the second game running. Given United’s 5-0 drubbing of Wigan last time out, who are we to question his selection? However, eyebrows will be raised at the exclusion of Wayne Rooney from the matchday squad, after only featuring for half an hour on Boxing Day.

Phil Jones returns from illness to partner Michael Carrick in defence rather than midfield. Nani and Antonio Valencia play in midfield behind a trio or strikers, leaving Ji Sung Park to man the middle of the park.

As for Steve Kean’s side, injuries to both Junior Hoilett and David Dunn (surprise, surprise), mean Radosav Petrovic and Ruben Rochina start. After his heroics at Anfield, Mark Bunn continues in goal.

After that we’ve five 3pm fixtures, and no evening game allows us to be unfashionably on time for our New Year’s shindigs. This is my last post of 2011, so I wish you all a Happy New Year! See you in 2012!

    Nobody can be having a worse week than me:

    Last week I got rid of VDV because he was "out for 3 games", after keeping the faith for weeks, and he then proceeds score in the second of those games. This week, after Bale's brace destroyed me in my mini league last week, and he gets booked, Adebayor delivers nothing, and my long term defender Kyle Walker, Spurs' great attacking full back, who hasn't delivered an assist or goal for about 8 gameweeks, loses his clean sheet to Scott Sinclair, the man I got rid of to get Bale into my team... Meanwhile two of my mini league rivals get an assist for Assou-Ekotto in the first week they've brought him in. Wilkinson doesn't even make it 60 minutes, Vermaelen gets an incorrect booking and comes off injured, Nani, Petrov, Mata, Sturridge, Bale, Adebayor all fire a blank, 28 points, nobody to play tomorrow.

    Beat that 😛

      Not much better here.Sitting on 25. Luckily I captained RVP instead of Nani and my FPL cup opponent captained Nani instead of RVP. Sinclair's goal saved me from his Triple Tottenham lineup of Bale,Walker,Ade. He is done for the week with 27 pts. RVP should get at least 2 BP, assuring me a FPL cup victory as long as Silva and Brunt don't double red tomorrow or sit as none of my bench played.

      Sturridge has burned me for two weeks now. I am pissed as well. He will be shipped off as I have gotten 3 points in 2 games. Only positive is that his value when up .3 since picking him up. Otherwise a big bust.

      Are you going to hold on to him?
      The next 4 look promising if he can find the form that he had. Not sure though with Drogba off and Torres likely coming on. Sturridge's touch count will go down with Torres ball hogging.

      Not sure what to do.
