Welcome to a brand new year at Fantasy Football Scout. Hope you all have a happy one.

Now you’ve disposed of your empty cans and pizzas boxes into a black bag, you can settle into your lazyboy and spend the afternoon shouting at your TV screen. We have two games: West Brom entertain Everton and Sunderland welcome Man City to the Stadium of Light.

The teams are in for the opening game, with the main talking point, the omission of Royston Drenthe. It seems there’s not even a place for him on the bench, with Jack Rodwell returning to the Everton lineup.

WBA: Foster; Jones, McAuley, Dawson, Shorey; Thomas, Scharner, Morrison, Brunt; Long, Odemwingie.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Heitinga, Neville, Rodwell, Osman, Cahill, Saha.

      I dumped Eagles for Drenthe, mainly for the DGW and I couldn't afford Osman in that position. Hopefully he'll still come good, even though it's not gonna happen this week...

    I guess the only saving grace in this whole Drenthe saga is his price went up last night so managed to reclaim a lost 0.1m. Everton players are dead to me now, Drenthe -> Valencia it is.

    If I played 4 defenders this GW, is it Hibbert (1st sub) or Watson (2nd sub) that comes in for Rooney (as is there a rule on playing a certain number of defenders before auto subs)?

    1) Rooney --> Adebayor
    2) Ba & Enrique --> Adebayor & Warnock (or other 4.9m defender)
    3) Barnett --> Ekotto
    4) Other

    Already have Bale, Walker, Howard & Baines for the double but feel I need a 3rd Spurs player.

    Any thoughts would be more than welcome!

        Yeah, tempted - not sure it's worth a hit to get a 3rd Everton player but it could pay off.

    No Drenthe again! What is Moyes doing. Everton are short of attacking flair so he decides against playing him? I bought Drenthe weeks ago in build up to the double, wish I had of bought someone like Walters instead, would be about 50 points better off. At least Moses comes of my bench though 🙂

    Anyone know why some teams have to play Saturday/Monday whereas Newcastle play Friday/Wednesday and Man Utd Sat/Weds. Seems unfair to me
