You might have noticed that Fantasy Football Scout has continued to grow this season. Hopefully, this will continue into next term and, with ideas and plans forming week on week, I’ve decided it’s time to look to add at least one new member to our team of contributors.

We’re looking for a writer to join Sir Paulos’ editorial team – someone who can commit their time and enthusiasm to the site, take charge of a section and make it there own. Hopefully someone who can grow with us and help us into another exciting season of development.

Ideally we’re looking for someone who…

  • Has a knowledge and passion, not just for Premier League football but for Fantasy Football. You will have opinions and be able to back them up with enthusiasm.
  • Is willing to volunteer and contribute their passion and their time to become an invaluable member of a growing editorial team.
  • Has good, strong writing skills with the ability to produce tight, entertaining editorial – in line with the house style, but with a twist of personality.
  • Is available to contribute opinions throughout the week and at weekends, helping to shape decisions and editorial direction within the Scout team.
  • Is available to contribute articles on a weekly basis and be prepared to take charge of an established section of the site, making it their own and working in collaboration with the team to grow it further.

If you feel you’d like to put yourself forward for this role, please send a short summary of yourself, along with a sample of your writing to writers@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

If you don’t have any samples of writing available, please supply a Watchlist article – of a player of your choice, written to our template, an example of which can be found here.

This process is typically lengthy and it’s likely that Sir Paulos and I will be looking at applications from now right through until the end of January. Please be patient with us, we will try to get back to applicants as soon as possible and we will keep you up to date with the process via the site as we go.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Quite possible, they play a rather low defensive line against a 'good-in-the-air' team like Newcastle. Could be a coming out for Cabaye...who is a Modric-lite in my book. If they flirt with danger and field Rio and Jones at CB we could see more yak-on-berbs type comedy in the back.

    Enrique/Simps/Shotton

I was mighty miffed when I looked and so my rival had his subs as: Sess, Simpson, Dyer...

But it currently looks like he'll only have Verm and Sturridge replaced, so might not be that bad.

This is assuming Baines, Jones and Nani get some minutes.. otherwise he'll get chuffin Dyer in too!

replying to an earlier post, i managed to convince myself:

glen johnson is the liverpool cover to have between now and the end of the season.

i defy anyone here to produce an argument that enrique should be in any team ahead of glen.

i suppose if you'd bought enrique at 5.0, then maybe the argument could be made to stick, but for anyone considering liverpool cover in their WC team, surely it has to be johnson.

and don't be fooled by skrtl's attacking points! they've come against blackburn, bolton and villa, and he's already matched his best ever season on attacking points.

    Open Controls

oh, and here was the reasoning:

also, enrique has a 24min/point rate whereas glen johnson has a 18.5min/point rate. with johnson healthy again, you can project 87.6 points from him between now and the end of the season (that may be low-balling it, actually, as johnson usually does much better than a single goal in a half-season), versus 67.5 points from enrique (and enrique’s attacking output rate this season has already surpassed all his previous seasons).

finally, with liverpool not really producing much in terms of crosses converted to goals, you’d want johnson’s goal threat over enrique’s assist threat, surely.

but at the end of the day, the question is, would you pay 0.8M FPL money for 20+ more points in a FPL season?

I think for his price I'd be more tempted to go for a fit Verm or Jones. Think I paid 5.7 for Enrique, but their next 3 ain't so bad so I'll stick for those at least.

They both seem addled by their strike partners out wide. Enrique looked the more organized and willing to touch and overlap, but with Downing looking out of sorts when given no room his skills and lack of a right foot left very few options for Enrique to get the ball (Bellamy later on is a nightmare for Enrique owners...I'll leave it at that...Maxi could be good for him if he plays over there). Johnson looked like he got the ball into more space as Kuyt is a more technically proficient player, Johnson's end product let him down and time when he would get into the second layer of the final 1/3 and do damage, Micah Richard's strength, recovery speed or positioning robbed Johnson of a few opportunities...not to mention Yaya Songbossing the close-down.

To be honest, there's not much between them.

Enrique is more creative than the other two with the most key passes. Johnson is quite far behind and Skrtel hardly has any.

Enrique isn't too far behind the other 2 for goal threat, who have almost identical stats. Enrique's shooting lets him down though with most of his shots off target.

Enrique is currently 0.8m cheaper than Johnson and 0.1m cheaper than Skrtel so that swings it in Enrique's favour for me.

Well that's the thing, it's a nice run of fixtures for Dempsey for the 3 games up to Wildcard.

I feel that Gower is a dead weight.

If Drenthe played it would be easy decision and Sess would come in for Gower, job done. Unfortunately Drenthe doesn't play.

all depends on whether drenthe comes back into the team. if he does, you'd probably want to keep him.

i would probably go gower > sess, with drenthe > dempsey being second priority.

      Gower to Sess.

I can't see Gower blowuptuating to much. Yet when Drenthe is fully integrated into the squad he could be a problem. Yet you can always go for Dempsey and snatch Drenthe up later.

I've tried putting him and RVP in, but it compromises the rest of the team, so in a RVP vs Aguero, regardless of fixtures, I'm pickin RVP!

Not how I roll! Currently RVP, Ade, Yak, not looking to change that really. Upgrading Ade to Aguero really isn't worth the 2m I'd then have to take from elsewhere.

If you've got 3 fit Spurs players there's surely no point in wildcarding anyway, with Wolves next?

why...ive had him for most of season but glad i got rid as he usually scores and then goes barren for a couple games and also always comes off around 70 mins

he hasnt even been in good form yesterdays goal was lucky

I think back end of the season, he will start coming good again.

Stereotype, but I'm sure the weather conditions improving will help with his form also.

I've decided he's coming into my team, looks like he could quite easily drop a few times over the next few weeks also which is good, so hope he has a barren spell during there to encourage him being dropped. I could get him in and still keep Sturridge I reckon, but will see, Demba is also coming back longterm.

I'm still trying to forget Mancini's rotation making me its bitch...

I thought I could do it (but then remembered last year I was rolling with Tevez when times were easier) but I can't take the hit if that much money sits or even comes on for an 18 minute cameo.

      never say never.

3-4 weeks ago, MCI couldn't buy a CS and Kompany was becoming a liability with his YC addiction.

      that's why i sold him.

now MCI are getting their act together, he's on my watchlist again for the WC.

what are the chances Ba will play one more game? Aren't Newcastle trying to keep him one more game like Man City are doing with the toures? This information is vital because Ba at home vs QPR promises double figures

Newcastles game is on the 15th, I don't see anyway his country would stand for that. Risking an injury so close to the kick off. Not to mention little or no training time.

I think City wanted to keep the Toures for the FA cup game a week earlier.

I'm happy with my team for now, but the side I want to WC to leaves me with 0.0 in the bank; is that sufficient justification to do it now, do you think?

I notice that a lot of us Vorm owners out there are looking at bringing in Mignolet with the WC. This suggests that there is confidence out there in Mignolet keeping the #1 keeper jersey. What is unclear is how good this pairing are future proofed for rotation?. Anyone care to share thoughts on this?
