The cameras will be down at the Etihad Stadium but our thoughts will certainly be focused on events at White Hart Lane as Spurs play their first of two gameweek fixtures carrying the hopes and armbands of many Fantasy managers. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to collect the joy and pains at the Lane as they happen.

The team news finds Rafael Van der Vaart, Emmanuel Adebayor and the heavily backed Gareth Bale safely nestled in Harry Redknapp’s lineup. Scott Parker’s absence leads to a shift to 4-4-2 though, with Jermain Defoe up front with Adebayor – that may well prove to be significant given the recent success of Bale and Van der Vaart in the 4-3-3, only time will tell. What we do know is that Spurs are up against an injury ravaged West Brom side, without the likes of Chris Brunt, Shane Long, Jonas Olsson and Youssouf Mulumbu; Graham Dorrans, Craig Dawson, Simon Cox and George Thorne all start for Roy Hodgson’s men.

Elsewhere tonight, City face Liverpool, while Wigan take on Martin O’Neill’s Sunderland. The most significant news from the team-sheets in that one is that Roberto Martinez appears to have rested Victor Moses to the bench, despite his recent form. Sunderland meanwhile, have Kieran Richardson back in their lineup. He comes in for Seb Larsson, the latest to be struck down by the Black Cats’ virus – nasty stuff clearly.

There’s no Luis Suarez at City tonight, as reported earlier, the Uruguayan starts his eight-match ban with immediate effect. Bizarrely, Kenny Dalglish goes into the game without Craig Bellamy, electing to bring Dirk Kuyt into his starting lineup in place of the Welshman; Steven Gerrard is once again on the bench. As expected, City bring back the big guns – David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Gael Clichy, James Milner and Micah Richards all make returns.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I would say no to Aguero personally, but with Dzeko's form he is most likely to play out of the strikers.

Doesn't seem to be love for Aguero on here atm. Even before tonight's game I was looking at bringing him in on the WC. He consistently scores points, and is their most nailed on striker. Personally I think Silva AND Aguero is overkill, and I'm now a little more reluctant to ditch Silva after his showing tonight..

Kompany's defensive numbers aren't particularly beastly, can't see him getting anything - Yaya, Aguero and Milner probably.

Kompany vs Koscielny, week 20. First numbers are for Kompany:

              Duels (competed/won) - 4/1, 11/9
              Aerials duels (competed/won) - 2/0, 3/2
              Tackles (competed/won) - 1/1, 3/3
              Interceptions - 1, 4
              Recovered balls - 2, 5
              Clearances - 14, 11

Is that why Koscielny's percentages are better too? Kompany won 25% of his duels because City were cruising, and Koscielny won 82% of his because they were under the cosh.

41 with 6 to come off Naylor subbing for Studge. I'm on a right jammy run - the 3 players I sold all did nothing this week, and neither did RVP theusual captain choice. So for DGW captained Bale who did ok and resisted selling Silva who's brought in a 9 pointer so far! Lol. Just need Rooney to have a quiet one then bring on next week.., 🙂

Are you guys finished with Carroll because I'd like to see him in MLS before he turns thirty and can't move at all.?

Think I got the perfect WC team now:

    Vorm, Sørensen
    Kompany, Enrique, Evans, Simpson, McAuley
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Sessegnon, Moses
    van Persie, Adebayor, Yakubu

    Any mistakes? Don't think so.

Evans is a value trap... there must be ten other defenders who have scored more consistently and are or were at his price point. I am just very down on Evans. If he would play four in a row... that would be a great pick. I'd take Caulker over Evans ATM.

It didn't quite click for Tottenham today. I think Defoe Adebayor and VDV are a bit too much, as in games like that VDV gets marked out of the game and Bale was restricted out on the wing. Lennon can't come back quick enough imo.

Still, out of BAE (clean sheet), Bale (Assist) and Adebayor, 2 out of 3 delivering something aint bad!

4-4-2 wasn't it, with VDV wide. Combo of Defoe/VDV/Ade doesn't seem to be massively fruitful in terms of creating chances etc.

Half wish I put in a Spurs defender now, got Ade + VDV in to go with Bale. Always next week for the rest to deliver. Those that captained Bale should be off to a good start. Anyone captain Defoe?

How many went for Ade or Bale. I did and am going to be worse for doing so, lots in my mini league have Bale captain. Red arrows for me tonight.

35 with 8 to play; cup opponent has 38 with 7 to play

With many similar players, and I also have Simpson to play, may come down to Bale (c) vs Ade (c); BAE vs Jags; Drenthe vs Osman

Not sure which trio looks best, but as always, am pessimistic!
