Roy Hodgson fears Chris Brunt may be set for an extended spell on the sidelines. Harry Redknapp awaits news on the extent of calf injuries to William Gallas and Sandro, while Bacary Sagna is reportedly ahead of schedule in his comeback from an ankle injury:

Spurs’ hard-fought win over West Brom last night came at price after William Gallas and Sandro both left the field with calf injuries. The pair are awaiting scans today and, while the severity of Gallas’ injury is yet unclear, Harry Redknapp revealed post-match that Sandro appears to have torn the muscle, with a long absence now expected. The injury problems racked up yesterday, with Jake Livermore, who came on as a sub for Sandro, also limping out of the Baggies clash. Scott Parker missed the game with a knee problem but is hopeful to be available for next week’s game with Everton.

Roy Hodgson has revealed Shane Long missed last night’s game at Spurs due to a back injury. While it is not thought to be serious, it could make the Irishman’s status questionable for the next few weeks. The Baggies boss admitted Chris Brunt is facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury against Everton. Hodgson is bracing himself for bad news over the playmaker’s availability:

He has a CT scan today – but we know it’s a serious injury. It’s just a question of the degree of seriousness.

David Moyes is hopeful that loan-signing Landon Donovan can hit the ground running against Bolton tonight. The Everton boss has revealed the American has trained well, looks sharp and is looking forward to getting on the field:

Fitness-wise he is not someone who carries a lot of weight. He is quite lightweight and he looks okay. He has settled in very quickly, so we look forward to getting him in the game and seeing how he does.

Reports suggest Arsene Wenger has been handed a defensive boost with the news that Bacary Sagna could return to the first team sooner than expected. Sagna has been missing since October with a broken ankle and may be fit to face Manchester United in gameweek 22.

Martin O’Neill received some positive injury news today, with both Craig Gordon and Michael Turner returning to reserve action this afternoon. Though their results on the pitch have been impressive, the Black Cats have struggled for options, with a few of O’Neill’s first-team squad struggling with injuries and illness of late.

Hatem Ben Arfa has voiced his frustration at not seeing more first team action for Newcastle this season. The Frenchman has declared himself ‘completely fit’, but believes that his playing style doesn’t suit that of manager Alan Pardew. While Fantasy managers are hopeful of more game time for the Frenchman when Demba Ba departs for the African Cup of Nations, Ben Arfa bemoaned

It’s true we don’t share quite the same philosophy. For him, it’s more crosses, a bit of a more direct style, whereas I’m more the kind of player who likes to play short passes.

Wigan striker Albert Crusat was helped off the pitch during last night’s defeat against Sunderland with a back injury. The Spaniard was replaced after 38 minutes by Victor Moses and was in some discomfort as he left the field. Roberto Martinez said:

We will assess Albert over the next 24 hours, but he couldn’t breathe when he came off so it is a worry.

Mick McCarthy’s first-team options have increased today, with the news that Michael Kightly has returned to Wolves after a three-month loan spell with Watford.

    My DGW players consist of Walker, Bale, Adebayor & Baines, Jagielka, Osman. I have had the Spurs players in question for two months or so now. I drafted the Evertonians in the last 1-2 gameweeks. I intend to keep my Spurs players well after DGW, but for my Evertonians I might replace Baines for Richards and if Donovan does well draft him in for Osman.

    Any comments on this WC team from GW22?

    Vorm | Schwarzer
    Richards | Enrique | Kelly | Caulker | Simpson
    Mata | Silva | Bale | Cleverley | Moses
    RVP | Kun | Studge

    Bank = 0

    Plan is to use my 2nd WC around GW28-30 to load up on Utd, Tot & Liv & get rid of Ful, City, Che players.

      First question: why WC for week 22? Why not keep? All your City assets will be running into Spurs.

      Strikers are exactly what I will have in my week 24 WC. Same Keepr combo, too.

      I just don't like Mata. I don't like what you get for that price. Nani all day for me in that range. I would even prefer Dempsey, because of penos and consistency. I just think Mata blanks way too much.

      Defense is good, and it gives me an opportunity to ask you: why hold on to Enrique? His fixtures are really bad after the WC. Love Kelly, Love Caulker, Love Simpson. You, however, may want some Stoke defensive coverage.

      I had forgotten about Cleverly....hmmmmm

      I love your Second Wildcard plan as well. If I still had mine, I would do the same. I will warn you not to load up on TOO much Liverpool, as they aren't exactly a high-scoring side, even with great fixtures. In fact, they seem to struggle more at home to the crappy teams.

        Cheers for your feedback, Newman. Always kind, my friend 😉

        Why WC for week 22? not that i don't want 3 city players that week badly. want to clean my dgw players asap. also want to clean my shite players earlier by virtue of holding onto my 2nd WC.

        Big faith in Mata's potential - on all kinds of set-pieces, will deliver huge when Chelsea & El Nino hit form. Just being patient. Btw, Dempsey isn't on penos right (Murphy is?).

        Nani's out for 6 weeks (really tough fixtures) - Back in GW28. Might keep him depending on his form.

        Enrique's still a bargain IMO. 5ish for the best defence in the league. Just imagine his returns when his crosses are put in the back of the net. Either way, I'd want him back in Gw28 - too much to lose.

        Shotton/Woody/Wilko - no one seems nailed-on.

        Contemplating b/w Cleverley & McClean for my 5th mid? Which one would you go for?

        Btw, would love to hear your WC ideas. Why GW24? And how's Ohio mate?

          Torres will never hit form. Embrace that now. I agree he could do well when chelsea hit form...but even when they were in form, he didnt do much, did he?

          Good point on Enrique I suppose. Gonna have to have a long think about keeping him.

          I think shotton is nailed on: only got rotated because of the fixture pileup.

          Cleverly of those two.

          Ohio is fun.... just as I like it!

          GW 24 waits for as many variables as possible along with transfers.

          Here's the current WC:

          vorm schwarzer
          caulker simpson kompany shotton evans
          silva moses nani bale walters

    anything wrong with that wild card team?

    wanted walters but his fixtures are tough and it would mean dropping one of my defenders who are getting me clean sheets

    and i dont believe dempsey is worth 8.5 playing for fulham with players like dembele ruiz zamora around him who can take his points

      Yeah Sess & McClean is a punt on the MON effect which already has gone beyond even my expectations - I can go McClean > Moses or Sess > Walters using my funds in bank. Walters isn't as good in open play though and his team score less, Moses could be better.

          Spot on Fudge. Buying someone before they hit a good run of form, which means more people buy them and their value rockets, i.e. Van Persie cost me 11.9 when his form was steady - after his form rocketed his price is now at a cool 13.2.

      Defoe is great at taking chances but doesn't create enough for the team - hence VDV/Lennon are usually preferred to him. Both will probably be available for Spurs so it's gonna be an uphill struggle.

    WC at end of month. For now 2FTs. Current team is

    Vorm
    BAE Enrique Simpson Jones
    Silva(C) Nani Bale
    RVP(V) Ade Ba

    Given Walters Dyer Shotton 0.4 in kitty

    Possible transfers:
    1 – Ba—>Bellamy/Sturridge
    2 – Jones—->Kompany/Richards
    3 – Given—->Ruddy (Vorm every week)
    4 – BAE + Ba—->Kompany/Richards + Flectcher/Yak/Bendtner (less than 6.2 FWD)
    5 - Shotton + Ba----> Richards + Morison/Helguson/Graham (5.3 FWD)
    6 – any 2 of 1-3

      bit of a waste getting a gk if you're wildcarding in a few weeks. ba has to be a priority as he's off next week isn't he? no point getting rid of jones while he's oop.

      shotton could still be a punt so would prob just leave him in til wildcard, see if he gets game time.

      so 1 or 4. probably 1 with sturridge if he's fit and save a transfer, if studge not fit then do 4, with richards and yak for me.

        If Ba stays for QPR he is potential a capt pick! So I will wait as long as possible. I am only contemplating Jones out as i need a city defender back in.

        I am hardly playing Shotton nowadays, it was a mistake getting him as he is far from nailed on 🙁

          city def is why i like option 4. but you can always get one in your wc anyway. but yeah, if ba is around for qpr then 2 is a decent option.

          wouldn't worry about shotton, he was a 4.0 oop punt that didn't pay off. as long as you've still been fielding 11 every week he's done you literally no harm.

      You have 12 players in your starting 11.
      Is it a wildcard. If so:

      This is the time to sell Vorm as they have bad home fixtures which is where they get the majority of their cleansheets
      Downgrae BAE to a cheaper defender such as Senderos as you only ever want to play 3 at the back.
      Midfield is almost great as I would prefer Moses to McLean because doubling up on Sunderland attack is stupid especially with their fixtures after GW24
      Frontline is fantastic.

    Sturridge, Aguero, RVP

      Would keep Aguero (as City have good fixtures) - RVP would go instead.

      Ba is off to ACON - so he is a no-go.

      Main purpose of high team value for me is to get the top priced strikers/mids - if they have a disappointing time like Mata/Nani/Rooney/Aguero have been for a while, nit much to worry about.
